  1. More than the value of the car, IMO. @Breezy_Pete replaced the engine in his other half's 1.2, by himself. It's more feasible if you do the work yourself, but can be a pig of a job, especially if you don't know what you're doing.
  2. Worry not, someone has left me with Zetec cloth seats instead... bar the rear seat squab, which has some velour-y goodness.
  3. Linkages could be stiff. That's all I can think of. However, I'll probably be proven wrong, as I'm not 100% sure.
  4. I have largely done nothing to/with this car. The Fabia has sooked up any remaining time. In tha meantime, the car, which was already known to 'car spotters' (like myself) due to its rarity, has made it on the interweb courtesy of someone that isn't me! It looks better here, less grim, if you will.
  5. A bit late now, but I use a bit of a silicon based furniture polish. Although not a permanent repair, keeps them retracting better for about a year.
  6. That's what I used on mine. Will report back in a year to see if it's bubbled back over again. Regardless, be sure to get the rusty area cleaned back to metal if it's just surface rust.
  7. Aye, looks to be everything as far as I can tell. Will let you know if I need anything else.
  8. Fuel cap assembly arrived yesterday. Thanks, DM.
  9. From the title I thought @Lady Elanore had sold her BMW... Regardless, woweeee that Maserati is bloody lovely.
  10. Adds five horsepower, dontchaknow? The real reason is that it was a quid cheaper than a regular one...
  11. Properly fitted "tha blue teeth" the other day... That's the second one of those Kenwood stereos I've bought. The first ended up in my Gran and Grampa's caravan. Additionally, the rust has been properly repaired on one of the sill ends, but the sill is getting scabby elsewhere, but remains very solid. The work I've done would have Dali doing barrel rolls in his wooden box but it's functional. There's plenty other places I've still to do on the car, but will get around to.
  12. That's only for vRS models, especially at "meets", right?
  13. Yeah it's doing my head in too, it looked okay until I looked back at the picture.
  14. Comes up well for a 2006 car that's a bit abused and living in Scotland. All it took was an early 2010s bottle TurtleWax's wash and wax, and some CarPlan Gloss stuff afterwards! \
  15. It's been doing less mileage than usual, now that I'm not commuting as much, which is good. Gave it a wash though! As seen in 'Chuckle In Your Day', I applied that Scotland sticker as a "professional" body repair to hide a stone chip! Kwality!
  16. Same wheels as my one! I've had mine two years now, and done about 23k miles in that time. It's picked up a decent amount of war wounds in my time, but mechanically it's fairly sound now.
  17. The keyboards from these machines are both duff. Currently speaking to a collector who may be able to hook me up with some spares for the older machine. It has sentimental value to me, given it's been in the family since new in 1995/96. The PSU is not whistling, it is indeed the LCD panel, and the plastic is much the same as it was... ****ed!!
  18. All the best in the future.
  19. Oh wow, an update! The current standings of working computers versus broken computers isn't looking good... I've got three 1990s Toshiba laptops. The oldest, a 1995 T2130CT is working alright, although the PSU seems to be whistling, the plastic disintegrating, and the keyboard in my later Toshiba Satellite Pro 430CDT. Speaking of, it's dead. Very dead. Kaput. No life. Zilch. Zero. Nada. There seems to be a common issue that afflicts these, where the internal CMOS batteries bomb the mainboard and corrode their way through like rust on a nearly new Fiat's bodywork. This also seems to be what killed my Tecra 510CDT, which I sold on. The only way to solve it, it seems, is to repair the mainboard, or buy another and fit it myself, which I'd rather not do, but needs may push things in this direction if the deal doesn't work out. Furthermore, I've got a Satellite 310CDS (passive matrix screen, but the best spec of these three otherwise) which I use for word processing and off-line accounts (it's about as secure as you can get since it doesn't have any way of getting on t'interwebs. However, the power brick for it is now knackered, with no status LED or anything of the sort, which is a nuisance. I'm currently using the dead 430CDT as a big paperweight of a battery charger for the battery from the 310CDS. Creativity and that. Oh also, 'the deal' is that instead of repairing the gubbed Satellite Pro, I've agreed to buy an IBM ThinkPad 600E from someone I know and have bought parts from before. It comes with a spare 600-series machine to keep it going, along with some other accessories, which is nice. Anyhoo, the desktops are running fine. Which is good. Touch wood and that.
  20. Had this with a Punto, was a split breather hose IIRC.
  21. Broken wire in the door loom?
  22. I can feel a bit smug, it's just about the only thing that works on my '98 Focus Ghia.
  23. The cubby on my one wouldn't stay closed, I've since removed it. Easier access to the OBD port anyway, which given the nature of my car, has definitely made my life easier... I can now find out quicker what's broken!
  24. Build yourself a 1.8T estate... sorted.
  25. Just seen this thread. Glad to see you're beginning to document things.
