  1. Probably will free up. Our Sandero did it then started going again quite the thing.
  2. This is what caused me a few problems when removing the glovebox out of my Mk1. Took me a little footering to get it right.
  3. Mine does it too, tested it today. I've never driven another car that's done it before. I wonder if the LHD ones go the other way... like some sort of "safety" feature?
  4. Ohhh, in that case I've misunderstood. I think mine does that too, but I'm not 100% and I'm not going to find a straight road at this time of night to test it.
  5. Okie dokie... almost a year on, what have I achieved? Well, I got it running 10.4.11 with an 80GB hard disk! So far so good. Still going to need new speakers and the fold out stand but I'll sort those out later. I threw on a copy of TenFourFox too and optimised it a little so now it's a surprisingly competent bit of kit for the "business" end of things. That's all.
  6. This is also the sound that a Rover owner makes when something has broken on their car.
  7. I've just took a screen grab of this as I think I summarised all this fairly well. Not just driving instructors, but young people looking for their first or second cars, or just people looking for a simple small car. TLDR? Ford are being a bit daft, IMO.
  8. Mine was like this, tracked straight and everything. Moving where the steering wheel lines up when replacing the wheel seems to have cured that issue.
  9. My Fabia came with one of those Gideons bibles in the secret compartment. I'm not sure what to make of that, but it's in the house now, on the bookshelf.
  10. Ever since the discontinuation of the Fabia estate, it'll be this Mk1 Fabia as my last Skoda unless a mint Mk1 estate pops up or similar. Dacia keep cropping up as a cheap way into a more modern car, but I need to wait and see longevity of these cars as the early Sanderos and Dusters (RUSTERS!) don't seem to be holding up too grand. Otherwise, Nissan or Toyota have my vote for spec, reliability, and price (especially second hand).
  11. Lightning to 3.5mm adaptor? That's if they still sell 'em. I've got a Samsung lump of a phone that uses a USB-C to 3.5mm adaptor to allow me to use my headphones with the phone. Otherwise, what about a bluetooth kit that's compatible with the CD changer port of the Volkswagen Gamma, don't they share the same pinout. If so, there's a lad on that rather beige forum who runs a Golf with such kit.
  12. Can't beat a 2.0 Fabia though.
  13. Haven't done much to the car recently. It's needing work that I can't do, so it's going into the hands of my tame independent for repairs on Monday. Hopefully it'll stop clunking like the police riot squad on a criminal's door. The estimate for the work may depend on the fate of the car too. This may be interesting, or terrifying. As an aside, I finally found the missing suction cup from the Halfords blind thing that came from my work. It's now mounted ready for road trips and all that. Still unsure whether I want to have the rear windows tinted a touch. An issue for later, I think.
  14. Likewise, became well acquainted with my windscreen though!
  15. Wasn't the Mk1 Golf known for that too? Loving the car @faboka vrs, very shiny.
  16. Gorgeous big Merc, that is...
  17. Didn't realise you'd made a thread for this. Brilliant work so far, DM.
  18. No. I'd argue that it was a pointless modification on these given the panel filter that's OEM is pretty free flowing. Happy to be proven wrong, but I don't think I am.
  19. Thank you! I was a bit windswept getting back in the car but it was worth it!
  20. Bloody baltic, but worth it.
  21. Not quite. Our ones were two slots a side held together by elastic, you slid them onto the original plates and then dropped the show plates on the slot at the front. I'll see if I can get one of the lads to get a photo, I can't as I'm not working there anymore.
  22. Haha reaction for the Greta sticker... By way of holding plates on, Arnold Clark had these snazzy clips that held the show plates for photos ovsd the top of the car's reg. I don't know what they're called, though.
  23. First Central are who I'm with now. Seem to be quite competitive with pricing.
  24. It's the bumpers I don't like. The shape and the lights all round look good, but the big square bumpers can take a running jump.
  25. Yeah I couldn't either. The joys of Facebook.
