  1. You know, that actually looks quite good, but really bright!
  2. Aye, I would have just gotten rid of it if there was anything serious lurking. I'm going to properly see to the surface rust this year before it beds itself in properly.
  3. Aye pretty much. By the looks of it, it's finally going to need new rear drums and shoes too, those just aren't very good anyway. The bizarre tyre wear is definitely a tracking matter, the car is keen on ditches, so no surprise I'm having to pull it towards the road all the time now.
  4. Not ideal, but not the worst. No corrosion, so it's justifiable to put this one right.
  5. Aye that's what I'm thinking too, was trying to work it out in my head yesterday. Will give it a fettle over the coming days.
  6. Thanks, Pete. Good luck with yours too.
  7. Oh definitely... I quite like our dentist as well! Thank you, Lee. The mates have been placing bets to see what the final bill for the Skoda will be, odds are 2/1 for £230...
  8. Also, this fine automobile is now in the hands of the man from the Ministry of Transport. Eeeek.
  9. Aye they look a wee bit dull but it's not too bad IMO. Ryan does the LED replacements at times, so I may ask him nicely.
  10. Aye I've seen them like that too. Mine did sit at 90C before, or an indicated 90 rather, but I reckon I can align the wee gauge better. Will require a bit of fettling later. MOT is the first order of business.
  11. Went and visited the same lad who gave me the seats for the car, and we swapped some Fabia bits so I can sort some of the niggles my car has got. But also fitted these snazzy vRS needles... playing the fiddle while Rome is burning. Still need to adjust the one for the temp gauge as it sits just below the halfway point, but that's due to alignment when fitting them. I quite like it though, matches the paint.
  12. Wonderful! Glad to see some progress on this one.
  13. Had the same experience with the local Skoda dealer, but he wouldn't give me any details or prices.
  14. Possibly? I've potentially got another unit here I can use as a donor to get a pin from. Otherwise I'll speak to my Grampa.
  15. Service the car myself, do all the work myself - or if I take a step back and say "f*** this stupid s***e car" then it goes to the independent up the road. If you really miss the stamp in the book, then you can have custom-made stamps done for not that much. I don't condone having one done up the same as a Skoda dealer and passing it off as 'full dealer service history' come car sales time.
  16. Okay... so what's changed since I last done a write-up? Not too much, just had the engine management light coming on a few times for that damned P0171 code which I'm no further forward with. MOT is a week today, we will see how the fate of this car is determined, as if I won't spend a substantial amount on keeping this ungrateful little s***e going. So yes, stay tuned, dear reader, or something. And, a wonderful photo taken by the co-pilot of today's adventures...
  17. Agreed. Although I think it's just mine going senile with age now!
  18. A couple of times, usually when there's tarmac works or whatever. Also, it goes on automatically when you throw the car into reverse, which is something I only picked up on a little while ago.
  19. If your brake servo hose splits, then usually your brakes will feel rock solid as they are not getting any servo assistance. How are your brakes? I've added another photo below, you can see the non-return valve here. The hose on mine split on the right side of that hose, and my brakes were completely unassisted. Hope this helps.
  20. Planning to do this route in the summer, potentially in the Fabia but not sure yet.
  21. I have a lot of love for this car. I was following the progress via my Instagram but I smashed my phone so I'm locked out of @weeredfabia until I remember the password. Popped you a follow on my personal account though.
  22. Didn't manage to get readings from the MAP sensor. Although, fuel trims were taken using my OBDII bluetooth doowhacky. The first two are from before I cleared the EML. The one below is after... Make of that what you will.
  23. I'll have this off you, PM will be incoming in the morning if that's okay with you.
  24. Aye, the light has only ever come on twice now for this issue. The fault code itself can be cleared (and my fuel economy returns to 'normal', but returns after two or three times that the engine is run. I can do some data logging, but it'll have to be on Sunday when I can get a hold of the wee machine (it's one of these LAUNCH do-it-all things) as although I do have a Bluetooth OBD reader that could do this, I smashed my mobile phone and I'm reduced to the one that barely gets by. Will keep all concerned informed in due time.
