  1. I declared mine, just to be on the safe side. No changes to premium. But regardless I'd rather pay that little bit more than have my insurance marked null should my car get friendly with a field or whatever.
  2. Only bonus is house wins the dosh, I suppose...
  3. Did anyone guess £585?! Got the wheels balanced as well as it ejected a balancing weight. Now the car has a year's ticket and I have a car, by extension. May the norm resume.
  4. Glad to see you've made it over the other side now, Jim. Both, would be the correct answer I'm sure.
  5. Just the one for now. Trying to keep a bit aside for the new arrival/slow burner (shhhhh, if you know what it is!)
  6. Aye I know, standards are slipping... I'm just paying them to sort it out now, more costly in the long run, but less labour intensive given the weather, and I won't get billed for the retest. I'll sort out the advisories and the slight corrosion that's creeping in.
  7. You know, that actually looks quite good, but really bright!
  8. Aye, I would have just gotten rid of it if there was anything serious lurking. I'm going to properly see to the surface rust this year before it beds itself in properly.
  9. Aye pretty much. By the looks of it, it's finally going to need new rear drums and shoes too, those just aren't very good anyway. The bizarre tyre wear is definitely a tracking matter, the car is keen on ditches, so no surprise I'm having to pull it towards the road all the time now.
  10. Not ideal, but not the worst. No corrosion, so it's justifiable to put this one right.
  11. Aye that's what I'm thinking too, was trying to work it out in my head yesterday. Will give it a fettle over the coming days.
  12. Thanks, Pete. Good luck with yours too.
  13. Oh definitely... I quite like our dentist as well! Thank you, Lee. The mates have been placing bets to see what the final bill for the Skoda will be, odds are 2/1 for £230...
  14. Also, this fine automobile is now in the hands of the man from the Ministry of Transport. Eeeek.
  15. Aye they look a wee bit dull but it's not too bad IMO. Ryan does the LED replacements at times, so I may ask him nicely.
  16. Aye I've seen them like that too. Mine did sit at 90C before, or an indicated 90 rather, but I reckon I can align the wee gauge better. Will require a bit of fettling later. MOT is the first order of business.
  17. Went and visited the same lad who gave me the seats for the car, and we swapped some Fabia bits so I can sort some of the niggles my car has got. But also fitted these snazzy vRS needles... playing the fiddle while Rome is burning. Still need to adjust the one for the temp gauge as it sits just below the halfway point, but that's due to alignment when fitting them. I quite like it though, matches the paint.
  18. Wonderful! Glad to see some progress on this one.
  19. Had the same experience with the local Skoda dealer, but he wouldn't give me any details or prices.
  20. Possibly? I've potentially got another unit here I can use as a donor to get a pin from. Otherwise I'll speak to my Grampa.
  21. Service the car myself, do all the work myself - or if I take a step back and say "f*** this stupid s***e car" then it goes to the independent up the road. If you really miss the stamp in the book, then you can have custom-made stamps done for not that much. I don't condone having one done up the same as a Skoda dealer and passing it off as 'full dealer service history' come car sales time.
  22. Okay... so what's changed since I last done a write-up? Not too much, just had the engine management light coming on a few times for that damned P0171 code which I'm no further forward with. MOT is a week today, we will see how the fate of this car is determined, as if I won't spend a substantial amount on keeping this ungrateful little s***e going. So yes, stay tuned, dear reader, or something. And, a wonderful photo taken by the co-pilot of today's adventures...
  23. Agreed. Although I think it's just mine going senile with age now!
  24. A couple of times, usually when there's tarmac works or whatever. Also, it goes on automatically when you throw the car into reverse, which is something I only picked up on a little while ago.
