Cheers Lee. Backlighting works with an MS202 and my VW Gamma but I'll check it anyway.

Hi all, Bought one of these that came from an Octavia originally for my Fabia and it plays fine and all that. However, the backlight appears to not come on with the lighting, and the stereo won't switch off when I take the key out. Has anyone had this issue with one of these units? 20221223_180412.mp4

2006 model here, 71,000 miles (just a young thing in comparison, but I'm in Scotland). Little scabby on the rear end of the driver's side sill, and at the arch where the bumper meets the arch on that side too. Nothing that a wire brush and a touch of paint can't sort when it's warmer.

This was registered 16 years ago today. Now over 71,000 miles and soldiering on nicely. Hopefully I'll see more out of it yet.

They're good, them. My Granda has a 0.9 turbo model. Goes quite nicely. Well bought.

I don't want to be too sarcastic, but how long is a bit of string? There's no given life on these really. It's done well this far. I say just keep looking after it and save up for when it does go bang. Reckon you could see another 50k miles out of it, but don't hold me to that.

Any progress with this one? I imagine it'll be tucked away given the road salt would eat the poor wee thing alive.

I'm usually one for 'find the solution using the items you want to fit', but I do fail to see the point of LED indicator bulbs. Good quality replacement halogen bulbs are rather good, and bright too. Fuss free, you just fit them and off they go. There may be a solution that will allow you to use the LED bulbs, but until then, it's worthwhile just not creating a mountain oot of a molehill and using standard bulbs. Just my two cents and that.

If it's a Mk1 it'll be manual climate control. @fvincent974 - try turning it on to the setting marked '4' to see if it works, it may be the resistor pack. Otherwise, the fan in the HVAC system will be kaput, I reckon.

Ahhh man, I'm sorry to hear that. Without regurgitating what I said before, you'll get to where you want to be. Your 'head doctor' as you put it, will be one of the best folk to see you through it as well. You'll always have us here backing you up too, of course. Nothing new to report really, just been plodding along. Now not far from 71,000 miles, which seems scary to me considering it was on 52,000 when I brought it home. Here it is, after a little fun in the snow, since I haven't really been out with it recently, mainly just staying in the village. For summer tyres, these aren't too bad, as long as you take it easy. As I said in the 'weather' thread, it's like a little mountain goat, as I drove it across this field which isn't smooth in the slightest... I'm just glad it isn't lowered. Got some plans for this, going forward. It's a perfect car for the winter since it's light and grippy. As such, plan is to put winter tyres (or all-seasons) on it, set of halogen spotlights down beside the foglights but wired into the main beams, and treat any rust then cover it in underseal of some sort. I've got a stupid thing incoming, eventually, more on that in potentially a separate thread. I think that's everything for now, though.

Taa daa here I am. I bought a PCT fixed flange towbar from Towsure. I was going to go for a Swan-neck one but I always think they stick out a bit too much. Yes yes I know, a 1.2 12v with a towbar is a bit optimistic etc etc A small cut was made in the very bottom of the bumper but you can't see that unless you're under the car. Fitting was easy enough as well. You'll need to take the rear wheels and arch tub plastic liners out to properly mount it as well. I have a sheet of paper somewhere that'll tell you which wires you need connect to the electrics plugs. I'll have a rummage about the paperwork stack tonight. Here's some photos that I took. And more recently when I've been out with the trailer... For the likes of taking it to the tip with garden waste, it's ideal, and keeps the inside of my car quite a bit cleaner. That last photo was from my last trip with the trailer, lugging steel wheels down to Kirkcudbright.

They're good cars for surprise MOT fails and knowing when you've just been paid. Don't ask me how I know. I'm ****ting bricks in anticipation for the next MOT. Good thing I know is that it won't be a structural rust issue, otherwise, your guess is as good as mine.
