Basically I witnessed some pretty horrible events today which has led me to wonder about enabling the automatic locking that locks the doors when you set off with the car, for my own security. Can this only be done via VAG-COM or is there another way? Also, does it stay locked, or will it unlock when you slow down? Cheers.

Aye, I find that the trip range on my 1.2 Ambiente is fairly accurate according to the MPGs I get (worked out using Fuelly on the 'net, with the brim to brim method). Another solution is not letting the car get as low on fuel... but I'm not in charge of your life. So do what you like.

I am, Gaz. But I'm also very impatient so I work out roughly what the tank's MPGs are by the trip and the halfway reading on the fuel gauge. It's a 10 gallon tank so maths is easy with it.

Unfortunately I have. I've been using the trip to work out roughly my MPGs between tanks, so can't really reset it at these milestone intervals sadly.

Agreed. Been thinking along the same lines of @Tomjones1995 and purchasing a second/spare car as an emergency runaround given the amount of issues I've worked through on mine recently!

Honestly, it would be wise take the bumper off and see how these grilles are held on, particularly on your facelift model. I'd do the same, but I've just parked up at work and a bumper removal is not something I'm doing in the car park.

There's better independent garages than hellfrauds ever will be. Or maybe even seek to using a council-owned MOT station next time.

Yep! In fairness, the computer helped a little with diagnosis, but only through pulling live data from these sensors. It was mostly smell and a light wallet that alerted me to the running rich issue.

This saga appeared to progress beyond the realms of being able to be fixed by sticky tape and the prayers of a man praying to a non-specific deity. The car was overfuelling... and as a result, skinning me alive in petrol alone. I threw quite a few sensors at it, but it appears both my pre-cat lambda and MAP sensor had both given up the ghost without setting the engine light into a screeching frenzy. So maybe the moral here is to rely on your brain (or whatever is in that bit of yer heid) and not always on the OBD readings. All I know is that it works now and that isn't bad. Electrical witchcraft seems to have sorted itself out mostly, too. Win win.

Haha indeed. As is hoovering the inside of the Duster to get all the dog hair and sand out. Dog hair and sand are the base requirements for any Arnie Shark trade-in these days.

Seems to affect the newer models too, we've had a few Mk3s in work with it. May replace the screen on mine at some point as its been keyed previously and refracts light at night time making driving hellish.

The outer skin will shed, but it'll be fine. I believe @sepulchrave can confirm this information.

I'll do the dogbone myself, eventually. Going to be under the car as I'm not sure that's all that's knocking. There's definitely a knock when changing gear and there's a continuous one, so will prod everything. The bushes can be a job for the garage in a few weeks time.

You've reminded me that I've still a Febi dogbone mount in the boot of mine I need to fit... and some PSB polybushes. Will do both eventually.

Agreed. But the ~280hp in the one I drove was pretty decent. It was an earlier one, so started with 250hp. This is all relative anyway, I drive a car with 216hp less than the 9-5 I drove.

Clean again. Was absolutely minging since it's been doing a heck of a lot of mileage in all weathers.
