  1. On the back of what @VanhireBoys was saying on another thread, I thought it would be wise to create a thread to document common rust spots for the Mk1 Fabia and how to spot early signs of it. Feel free to share your own images etc as it all helps towards documenting the rot on these cars, particularly as they become a little more... decrepit. One of the areas where I've seen these cars rust most is at the sills, particularly at the rear, or at the base of the front wings. As an example, here's where mine is just beginning to go at the rear, with some surface rust. Mine had been beginning to bubble up at the two points further along the sill, but I may have accidentally blown the paint off with the pressure washer. This is the other side, which isn't as bad, but just beginning to visibly rust. In regards to rusting at the bases of the wings, I'll use the photos that @TMB posted on my project thread... It seems to be that dirt likes to gather in here and rot them out. As a solution (which might be like peeing in the wind), take the arch liners off, and clean in behind there. I've also used the power washer in the gap between the sill and the base of the arch and it has blown a metric **** ton of dirt out.
  2. I imagine @Breezy_Pete is your man for explaining what to do... because it certainly ain't me!
  3. A lot of those issues would stem from wires in the door loom beginning to break down, IMO/IME.
  4. Best tips I can provide: Measure centre cap bore. Buy centre caps that match such a measurement. Wheel bolt covers can be had off eBay for not too much. Once again measure and buy accordingly.
  5. All down to how much you like it and how much it'd cost to gie it a whizz over with the sparkly stick.
  6. Getting there! Bonus points for the Brisky sticker on the rear window being like mine!
  7. As the title says. Four 5x100 steel wheels from my Fabia. Toledos from front are dated 07/17. Arrowspeeds from rear dated 06/14. Minor perishing to the tyres. Good tread. £20 each, or £75 for the lot. Collection only from KA6.
  8. Lambda sensors not reading right?
  9. I like that Gen 2, SSD is a bit small for my needs, but may suit your daughter fine. Maybe see if you can spec it with 480/500/512GB of SSD storage.
  10. 50-52mpg out of a 1.2 HTP Fabia is still bloody good, IMO/IME.
  11. Nail on head... and all that. The 1.2 could have benefitted from a longer ratio or extra gear as the droning at 60-70ish mph coming from the engine does get quite annoying eventually. One of the biggest factors in wanting/planning to change my car too.
  12. I reckon it'd be deserving of it's own project thread.
  13. Nice looking cars there. I do like that Ignis!
  14. Sent you a direct message, as not to clutter up the thread.
  15. Nope! Happens to be Auld Arnie Shark's. By way of valeting tips, I'm happy to help.
  16. At least you got somewhere with the fella at the parts desk. I had a mild falling out with him when I tried to get door card clips and later some headrest guide tubes.
  17. There's a certain type of person who prefers the Beat over a Ferrari... and that happens to be me.
  18. I have this too. Still interested in a potential solution.
  19. Ah not bad. I do valeting for a... competing dealership.
  20. Haven't refilled the Fabia yet (last time was Tesco @ £1.867 p/L), but think it's going to be expensive. Commuting daily is a ****ing fortune.
  21. Chances are the centre cap diameters are 56mm, so just go onto Amazon or eBay, IMO.
  22. Ah, you're from Ayr? I sit and watch the Ingram boys offload the new Skodas from the transporter during my lunch break at work.
  23. I wouldn't leave my email address exposed like that, if I were you.
  24. Correct. You'll lose the saved time in the clock too. But these are all just a bit 'first world problems' if you ask me. The handbook states how to set the clock, as well.
  25. Ah. I stand corrected. Bloody modern motors.
