  1. Thought it looked familiar! I know him through Auto****e.
  2. Yeah that'll be Howe's van then? The red Vanette I mean. Up for sale at the moment.
  3. I don't have such luxuries to warn me of when I'm going to run out. I use it, and when it runs out, I use the little litre bottle I have in the boot to top it up enough to keep me going.
  4. Run out of screenwash would be the obvious answer... alternatively, check that the bulb isn't blown. This is all fine and well as long as you had this warning light in the first place. Otherwise I don't think it's worthwhile to retrofit it.
  5. May try it on ye olde desktop.
  6. I just used an aftermarket kit for parking sensors on my Mk1. Would be cheaper and has its own beeper box thing, eliminating the need to mess with the stereo.
  7. @Fba - Happy to fit these for nothing on one of my days off if you're local to the south of Scotland, that is.
  8. There's a bright yellow Dolly that roams the local area here, makes me grin every time I see it.
  9. Before we get into that debate... let's not. Ta.
  10. My Gran has a Corsa just like yours, except it's the ICE version, a petrol automatic. Lovely cars. She's bought nothing but Corsas since passing her test (didn't start learning till late 40s) and she's said it's a nice replacement as she felt the last lot of GM ones were a bit disappointing.
  11. I think he means a steering wheel. Not an alloy wheel from an Octavia.
  12. You've come to the right man... I do English Literature and Film & TV Studies (Joint Honours Degree) and my 'hack' is a stickerbombed Lenovo ThinkPad X201i. Cost me £90, chucked in a 480GB SSD, and an extra 4GB of RAM to bring it up to 8GB. Goes like stink. However, an X220/230/240 may be a much better choice, or even an X201 that doesn't have an Intel i3 processor at the heart of it. I get about 4 hours battery life out of mine, it has a 12.1" screen. Only issues are it's a little heavy and thick for such a small laptop, and won't run Windows 11 without some ****ery, but it's reassuringly well built and very good under Windows 10. See also: HP Elitebook 8470p, I had one of these with an i5-3320 some time ago, and am buying another for my brother when his Dell packs in. What kind of budget have yous got for a laptop, as both of my suggestions can be had for under £180-250.
  13. I do like a go-kart style car. The Fabia has that feeling, you just plant your foot in the carpet and hope for the best, chuckable too, no real power though. Same as the Corolla.
  14. I've got this same issue. Thrown about a few theories, and the dog-bone mount has come up in the process, just as a suggestion.
  15. I do love a storytelling thread, being full of bull****, it helps. So aye, what's the best or favourite cars you've ever owned or driven? For me in my fairly short (thus far) driving career, it has to be an E110 1.3 Corolla 3-door that had quite the suspension refresh. Stuck to the road like glue.
  16. I've been saying that I'll wait till an EV drops to a reasonable (to me) sum before I spend the money on it... could be waiting a while as even though the MG5 starts at £28,195... that's about £26,195 more than I can or wish to spend on a car.
  17. I'll start pricing it up during the week and let you know from there, thank you. Should just be the 474 that needs belts thankfully. Touch wood, my RS-M215 is still functioning, but I miss the superior recordings.
  18. A breaker would be your best bet... or go and "view" another Fabia... and hope they don't notice.
  19. The lack of rear cabin filler as a result of the MS202 wasn't working for me, since it doesn't output to the rear speakers at all. The Symphony went back in this evening as well. The Alpine's blue display is too glaring sadly... the Sony I had been using may have blown up when a wire broke free from the aerial antenna crimp and shorted in the back of the stereo... so I'm hunting another one of those down for mucho cheapness now.
  20. I missed 63k on mine since I was driving on the A78 at the time.
  21. As yous will know having read this thread, I've got some sort of unknown issue that keeps coming and going (as my Fuelly will show you as well)... When the car isn't too great, it's seeing about 36mpg at best, but when I'm lighter on the throttle I can make some bizarre numbers pop up on the screen... I can average 42-44 when it's okay anyway. Just a shame the roads aren't flat everywhere with no traffic. Anyway, I've also given the car a fairly substantial wash as it was absolutely ****ing filthy... Now a little more fresh though... And yes, I did finally get the carpet cleaner to work, and it does a smashing job.
  22. I have the opposite issue, Lee. I have a fuel pulley thing that doesn't even work since the spring is missing due to the fuel cap shroud thing being massacred.
  23. Dynamat inside the doors and under the boot carpet. Maybe look at other tyres too when replacement time is nearer.
