  1. Itching to take the Fabia a wee jaunt down to Girvan again. I'll give my mate a ring and see if he fancies it.
  2. Where abouts were you? ... obviously South Ayrshire. I don't see the Ailsa Craig so it isn't Girvan surely?
  3. I may check this myself since it's nearly MOT time for my wee Fabia. Cheers Pete, you should post that in the handy tips and guides section in the general automotive section.
  4. Slightly OT but helps with your question, or my understanding of what you're on about? Our Sandero (same engine) runs fine on 95 RON E10, the cheapest of the cheap too, whatever my Granda buys.
  5. The noise of the wheel bearing on mine first occurred during the Summer there and was most prominent at 28mph and above, indicated speed as per speedometer. It was making a hell of a noise and it became rather daunting as it deteriorated quite quickly becoming noisier. My car is 15 years old and at the time was at 53,000 miles, now just scraping 57k. I recommend seeking the help of an independent garage of some sort when it comes to work like this, but then again, I have a fair amount of underlying distaste against Ingram Skoda in Ayr.
  6. Hello and welcome to Briskoda! You'll find that there's a wealth of information on this site regarding both of your models too. Enjoy.
  7. Mine was £130 all in to get the one done, with £40 for the part and the rest labour IIRC. I'd need to look out the invoice, but that should be a rough approximation.
  8. Thank you Sepulchrave. I was wondering why they had gotten such a bad reputation on here as I couldn't remember for the life of me, getting quite dittery so I am! I bought them unknowingly but they were a welcome upgrade over what I'm assuming looked like OEM discs (wasn't much left) and replacement pads. I'll probably buy different next time as I still find the braking performance a bit lacklustre but still an improvement nevertheless. I've not knowingly suffered any brake fade, but I'm not a yobbo, nor do I push all 64ish raging three-legged ponies particularly hard at any given time.
  9. I'm not overly excessive with revving it etc, when doing such a thing it's changing at 4.5-5k and it's only ever for very small periods of time. Otherwise it's business as usual.
  10. Do this with my Mk1 Fabia for a little bit on most journeys, just to be sure that it's not getting choked up with anything.
  11. I was thinking C.V. joints too when I read this thread.
  12. Eicher are ECP's budget brand and aren't too popular on these forums due to things I haven't cared enough to ask about etc. I've got them fitted on the front of my Fabia and they stop the car rather well and got me out of a few situations, so I cannot complain. They do their job.
  13. Good question. I never measured mine due to the fact I don't have all of this fancy gadgetry, besides a fairly simplistic code reader. There must be something that I'm not fully aware of that cuts the signal somewhere, someone with more knowledge should be able to help more.
  14. All of this scanning lark merely points you in the direction of things. Shame humans aren't clairvoyant though, it would be smashing when working on these cars.
  15. Process of elimination to rule out things perhaps. Definitely replace the position sensor first however.
  16. What I'd recommend is getting a second-hand throttle pedal position sensor off the 'bay and/or from a scrap 1.6 TDI of the same age, engine code, part number etc. I did the same for mine, wasn't too bad of a job to replace either, just need patience or try and make do with a lack of it, like me. Tell me about it! I nearly impulsively bought one at £300 to tide me over when mine was like "nah, not happening"
  17. If you rev the car up in neutral somewhat, are the revs dropping slower than before? That was the case with mine. Other symptoms I experienced were: Uneven idle Lack of power MPG - or a lack of. Issues starting after switching off or stalling. Of course, without sounding like a TV advert, what you experience may vary.
  18. This suggests a throttle pedal position sensor to me, based off my own experience. However, if I'm wrong then I'm fine with being corrected.
  19. It's recommended that a new thread would be made - specifically if their profile indicates their model - in the right section. Unless they have bought a Fabia, of course.
  20. Some oldies from when I dug out my Canon Powershot A560
  21. Hello and welcome to Briskoda! Glad you've seen the light and joined us.
  22. I love it when a box of goodies comes. Could be like a kid at Christmas!
  23. If the washer isn't working, then check for a loose pipe. It's common (at least on the Mark 1 Fabia) for the pipe to pop off at the pump, or at the back of the engine bay if I recall correctly. If you're referring to the wiper only, then I am unsure. I've had issues with the washer, but not the wiper itself.
