  1. Couple of quid in the power-washer thing and it looks better, I think. Most importantly, I got the grime out from behind the mudguards etc.
  2. AFAIK you should have two reversing lights.
  3. I very much agree with this. I'm 5'11 (or there abouts) and still require a stepladder and a good set of sponge curling skills (new Olympic sport) for sliding it across the roof of our Dacia Duster... Anyway, back on topic... electric cars etc.
  4. G'day and a warm welcome to Briskoda!
  5. Better equipped than my Fabia already... assuming the air con works.
  6. Rapidly disappearing depending on what you're after. Interior parts are a gamble for their existence, for example. I've found their videos to be good for their work on the Mk1 Fabias.
  7. Shooting myself in the foot and all that... oops. Good choice with Pete Townshend however. I was always quite partial to The Who and saw them live nearly a decade ago now.
  8. I was getting a reasonable offer with Eurocarparts at the time when I was replacing my front brakes (45% off) and even if they were the Eicher ones which don't seem too well liked on this forum at times, they stop the car better than before and better than I expected, which is plenty for my needs. Managed to assist in preventing a couple of potentially fatal situations too. It always depends what you buy from China, as you get what you pay for in most cases.
  9. Cheap VED is music to my ears... being a bit of a tightwad and all
  10. Very low mileage for a 2006, especially being a diesel. Mine is closer to 56,200 now but is doing just shy of 10,000 (approx) annually compared to the 3-4k it was doing under previous owners since it's my only car (for now ).
  11. Your Octy is catching up with my Fabia! Secondly, cheers mate, I shall have the tune for Ecuador stuck in my head for weeks...
  12. If you want to go aftermarket, then I recommend Kenwood Bluetooth units. I have a single DIN KDC-BT640U, but there's double DIN versions.
  13. I doubt it and I don't think she'd like you stealing the wiring...
  14. Very typical with most VAG cars, so there's typically a lot of wiring required. If you've got access to a Fabia for breaking with the same wiring then I reckon the job would be easier.
  15. I've got them as well. Having been present for the ownership of a Grande Punto without said things (you could adjust them electrically, but had no heating element), I don't believe it is essential for a car. It is a nice luxury and it gives me bragging rights over a good mate of mine. Fitting these is just a matter of how far you're willing to go with your car, as just about anything is possible if you want to put the blood, sweat and tears into it.
  16. Is this the heated mirrors?
  17. Well, they did change the Charing-X part of the M77/M8/A8 area in Glasgow by removing it and diverting you via other routes permanently. But that's a rare example, I presume. My 2006 Garmin Sat-Nav (last updated 2007) is fine for most uses even now, plus it was free.
  18. This article may help. https://rts.i-car.com/collision-repair-news/awareness-of-changing-refrigerant-types.html
  19. Aren't the fitments for the attachments different between the new and old systems?
  20. Methinks I'll remain "old school", as they say, then. Speaking of, I better get mine serviced before the Summer so it isn't merely an orange light in the centre dash area.
  21. Thanks AG Falco. I'll assume that Parkers is wrong then, I can stop kicking myself for buying the older Fabia of the pair...
  22. Aye I agree. There's some good threads about this in other sections of Briskoda. I often find the Fabia is cheaper to buy parts for than other cars I've found myself being involved with, which is pretty good as these Fabias are aging. Mine is low mileage so a lot of OEM parts are wearing out due to age.
