Solved it! As someone had said previously cheap usb adapters can interfere with the dab signal. I thought I had tested all variations fiddling about with the radio tonight I thought I would give the OEM radio another go and scan for issues. Lo and behold it started working. I then plugged my phone in to charge while I scanned for errors and it stopped working. unplugged the phone and it worked again. Tried another usb adaptor and no issue. So now the hunt for an alternative low profile usb adaptor that doesn’t interfere with the signal!

Yes. But I just meant I was comparing cost vs benefit. I can live without the seat memory function and spend the £250 it would cost to fix it on something else for now. And then get to it when other priorities have been completed.

For completeness I’ve undone the coding to reinstate the lumbar support as it didn’t gain anything. Now I know how the reverse mirror adjustment works, that works well now in the current condition too. One for the long list when funds allow

Right I went for a drive this afternoon so increased them temp a couple of degrees every couple of minutes. Cycled through ice cold up to toasting hot nicely. The horrible creaking sound on startup has gone so I’m guessing that’s the flap not stuck anymore. The basis settings trouble codes are still there. I ran an adaptation from carscanner and it cycled through all the settings. Trouble codes still there. Recirc button definitely changes airflow sound and volume so I’m confident that works as it should. There’s no noticeable sound or airflow difference changing from face to feet. And closing all the top vents doesn’t seem to increase the airflow to feet either. But it’s about 70:30 face to feet and I’m comfortable with that. So I’m going to leave it as is for now and maybe look at changing the actuator at some point for the main diverter. Will have a look at the manual and see how involved the task is. Also I’ve worked out how to actually scan for error codes and have got one for the digital aerial amplifier showing short to earth. I’ll try the injector with the aftermarket one and if that works then I’m happy

I don’t know. I only have carscanner not vcds and it doesn’t show faults on the set module I don’t think. I’ll have another look. Mirror may have worked previously I just didn’t know to leave the knob on L, but turning off the lumbar support coding worked in allowing some bongs

Hi. I hope you can help me with this. I did the long coding as suggested here using carscanner. I got 2 bongs. Lovely. I can select seat adjustment to key in the menu. Lovely. But it won’t save seat position. I’ve done the all the way forwards, all the way back etc. (and cracked my visor mirror in the process) Still no joy. The mirror setting for reversing works. If I push and hold number 1 the mirror moves to a new position. But the seat doesn’t. So there is some memory stored. It’s almost as if the set button doesn’t work. I fear it may need a new module but that’s £220 plus coding! Any other thoughts?

It seems the MIB2 unit doesn’t output phantom power I think as the OEM has an amplifier. Thanks. I suspected that was the case. I had seen that it was possible to map the buttons for mib 2 standard but couldn’t find it for high. Oh well. I’ll just have to stick to what im doing now.

has anyone here played with MIB toolkit much? I’m keen to reprogram the “Traffic” button to be “APP” and this seems possible with MIB toolkit. My unit is the MIB 2 Harman and from what I can work out that’s not supported by the toolkit but I’m not certain. I’m not sure if the inconvenience of the menu or using the voice button to prompt Siri and then press the be button is worth the risk of bricking the radio.

Also continued playing about with a few bits of coding with CarScanner -Undertaking prevention turned off -Auto Unlocking of doors when shifting to P enabled -Throttle pedal algorithm changed to "Direct" - I assume this is similar setting to changing it to "Audi" with VCDS. This has made such a difference to the driving feel of the car. Now feels like the accelerator pedal is actually attached to the engine! Full details and pics on the project thread:

So today after much deliberation over how/where to install the wireless magsafe charger I have settled on a location and wiring solution. My phone was just a bit too big to fit in front of the gearstick in the cubby, and it wouldnt have sat flat on the bottom so I would have had to build up the underside of the wireless charger to make it fit. I did consider putting it inside the arm rest but it just felt a bit too awkward getting it in and out. In the end I settled on putting it on the left side of the centre console. 99% of the time I am in the car on my own, and even with a passenger in situ it isnt really in the way. Its nice and easy to put down and pick up from the driving position and you can move the passenger seat all the way forwards without it fouling the charger, although you wouldnt be able to have a phone on it at the time (and these cars are so huge why would you want to move the front seat all the way forwards anyway! I wasn't overly keen on chopping in to the OEM wiring to connect it, so I opted for the same solution as I used to get the charging cable into the armrest. Slimline USB adaptor in the 12v socket and flat 90 degree USB C to USB C cable. It routed nicely to the side trim of the centre console and emerges just below the charger for a neat finish. I had to trim the edge of the cubby under the 12v socket ever so slightly but its well hidden by the USB/12v panel. and the cubby cover can still close over the top of it for a nice clean look. All in all really pleased with the solution, and its easily removable/upgradeable, shouldn't generate any heat problems being out in the open, and I still have the wire in the centre console if I want to plug it in rather than charge wirelessly at all. I shall ask my wife nicely to borrow her phone later to take a picture of my phone in situ. 100% I haven't had a car that I've worked on myself for 6 years or so, and to have AliExpress and other sources of cheap OEM copy parts is an absolute game changer.

Part 2 The car was originally supplied with a pump and goo repair kit. The goo was now out of date and I travel quite a bit for work so it makes me nervous not having a spare. I was keen on having a spare that was a close as possible to the rolling diameter of the existing wheels so it could be used without any speed or time restrictions, whilst also fitting under the boot floor. Following the advice shared from @Carlston on a few posts, I chose a 6Jx16 steel wheel with 215/60 R16 tyre which resulted in a less than 0.5% difference in rolling diameter. It fits in the wheel well really well, and fits perfectly on the car. Unfortunately the jack doesn't quite fit inside the wheel, but does fit in the side storage section. When I got the car back in November I was trading in a 21 Plate Fabia wanting an upgrade in terms of spec and size. I had previously had a 150PS TDI Superb 3 so knew thats what I wanted again. It had 123,000 miles and a few age related tatty marks and body marks. Most of the interior lights had been changed to White LED, AdBlue had been coded out and it had some hideous quilted floor mats. The wheels had been refurbed in dark metallic grey and the calipers painted red. The reversing sensors were not working and the dealer fixed those before collection. It also had a glow plug fail which was replaced under warranty. As the list on my phone of minor changes is getting longer and longer I thought its about time I started a thread on the projects page. Lights all working again and no further issues.
