What have you done to your Superb III today?
Finally got the headlight bulbs fitted. Shout out to Needham Market branch of Hadleigh Tyre services for the use of their ramp and torx screwdriver to remove the seemingly hundreds of screws holding the arch liners in. Not a bad job once the liners are out though. I went for these bulbs on the recommendation from @AL2772 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/286024506495 Just under £30 delivered with an 8% discount code offer currently on. Will get some photos tonight when its dark.

Tempted to make my own but hopefully the new bulbs will last a good while.

Whoever invented the headlights on Superb 3 needs shooting. Thought I’d give it a go without removing arch liner and have ended up with the bulb out but can’t get the new one in. Now going to run to mates local garage and get it up on the ramp to get the bulbs changed. Hoping driving with a bulb disconnected won’t do too much damage! Will keep the switch off.

In for full service today at the local independent VAG specialist. Nice to see prices clearly on display. Prices seem fairly reasonable to me.

@JR RS has a guide for upgrading to 2.5 and the bigger screen. I believe the main unit just needs software and then you add the screen as part of the upgrade process. There are other threads about VC. I believe with 2.5 and VC you can’t get the maps on the vc as that would need mib3. Also I think you might need a new bcm but others will probably Correct me on that.

Central locking fault
I know theres been a lot of issues historically reported due to those lights. I fitted some recently and have no issues at all.

I lost something behind the ash tray cover!
This is as much detail as the manual shows. You can lift the trim, disconnect the switches from each side of gear stick and parking brake switch and then press out the other trim round the gearstick and twist it through the hole in the outer frame to take the outer frame off completely. But I don’t think you would need to do that that get the ashtray out. Just release it and push it back far enough to get to the two screws (7) in the image. If you do disconnect plugs from the switches and parking brake etc you will get all sorts of errors. Dont worry they will clear when you plug everything back in.

You’ll need trim tool and Torx (20 I think) screwdriver. Pop up big frame round gearstick. It’s easiest at the front first. Then there’s 2 Torx screws to remove on the front edge of the ashtray area. Pop up the usb/12v fitting. Remove the wires from usb/12v/aux. The catches are all different and a bit fiddly. You can then pull out the ashtray unit. Beware there’s a wire at the back first the led light so don’t pull out too hard! I’ll screen shot the pages from the manual for you

LED Rear Indicator options?
Not excessively from the inside! They’re bright but I’ve not driven behind it to see if they are annoyingly so! Longevity no idea either. They’ve only been on the car a few weeks and one week of that it was in the garage!

LED Rear Indicator options?
Just be sure to select the right bulb type when ordering as some of mine came incorrectly the first time round.

Superb Mk3 Estate 190PS TDI DSG MY2015 SE L Executive - Moon White
Fate had me spending more money than expected this month. Broken spring and top mount, and misting shock so those all changed on OSF. I also appear to have misplaced the locking wheel bolt adaptor. The garage managed to extract the one needed for the work by welding on a bolt to the head of the locking bolt. But for the others I was able to match a picture online with the pattern in the locking bolt and order a new adaptor from Amazon. I undid the three remaining lockers and cleaned up and returned the adaptor for a full refund! Now replaced with standard bolts. New nut caps ordered to have a matched set in grey. Black and white logo badges, black SUPERB badge, Black Skoda valve caps orderd too. I shall also order some "Chrome Delete" film to start the blackout project as per @Kosin inspirational photo. Full service Friday, and hopefully if they have time a brake fluid change and DSG service to bring it all up to speed. Rear brakes will have to wait until next month!

Screenwash usage
I found it in the settings on carscanner so have changed it to 2500 which I assume is 2.5seconds if it’s in ms Also shortened the duration of each wash slightly.

Issues with AC
No sorry I forgot to take photos. it’s relatively straight forward for RHD. A bit more complex for LHD. Remove end panel from dash passenger side. Remove glovebox. 4 t20 screws across the top and one each corner. Lower it down and rest on a small bucket or box. If not you have to disconnect the wires so it’s not hanging on them. Remove ac hose from glovebox for access. Just behind the ac hose on the side of the heater box (left hand side of the central dash vents) you can see a blue plug plugged into the actuator. Remove 2 t10 screws on opposite corners. Once these are removed the actuator slides off a locating peg. You can then manually operate the white wheel that controls the flaps. Try to position it with the flat edge of the shaft in about the right position to match the actuator. With ignition off, plug in the actuator. You have a few degrees of twist available to slot it onto the shaft and then make sure it’s located on the mounting peg. Refit screws. Ignition on and run calibration on the ac. You can watch the actuator moving the flaps and arms. Check it all works then refit the bits you have removed. It’s only a 5 min job to remove glove box so if I get a chance in daylight over the next few days I’ll take some pics.

Issues with AC
Resolved! Fitted a new AC flap actuator this evening. £16.99 from Amazon. https://amzn.eu/d/0cuh4qx9 20 Minute job once I realised one of the holes is filled with a pin and not an impossibly placed screw. Most awkward bit was getting the flap in the right position to a lot onto the actuator. Also having the glove box out made me realise how the extra cabling for the Ali express reversing camera is probably what jammed the recirc flap too. So carefully positioned that when boxing everything back up. All DTC cleared. I’ll have nice cool feet for the summer. Looking forward to winter and having warm feet too!
