  1. If they've linked to your pics, why not change them slightly??
  2. You can't be banned by post, as a ban is effective immediately. With me, the "plead guilty by post" was not allowed, as they wanted to ban me... it was only a well prepaired defence that kept me my license! Fingers crossed for you!!
  3. It's a luxary to travel to work by car, it's a luxary to use your car to go to the shops, it's a luxary to use a car to visit your nan... if you see what I mean. You could use public transport, however, you choose not to due to the inconvenience. Hand on heart, I believe everything you've written. I'm just looking at it from a judgemental point from having been there myself, and passed my case through 2 solicitors for advice. If you've been allowed to plead guilty by post, YOU'RE NOT GETTING A BAN! If you're not allowed to plead guilty by post, then, well, Don't drive to court!! Either way, there's nothing posh about seeing a solicitor on this!! You don't necisarily have to have one represent you - I didn't!
  4. Now, what was that one for 2-jags Prescott??
  5. I wonder when the women are going to complain on how SEXIST, POLITICALLY INCORRECT and UN-EQUAL it is, in this age of equal opportunity and political correctness that you can have... Women Only car insurance, or companies advertising that they give better deals to women than men? What would happen if there was... Male-Only car insurance where women were stung? (Women would complain if the Women Only insurers didn't exist!) Whites only car insurance?? Thought I'd throw the racism card in there (not that I'm racist! I know many people from many ethnic backgrounds, and get along with them all!). There would be RIOTS if this happened!! So, ladies, by your backing of sexist, politically incorrect, and un-equal opportunity insurance companies, PLEASE let up have our sexist, politically incorrect digs at your lousy driving!!! And no, there shouldn't be a "whites only" insurance company - that would be just plain wrong!!! Anyway, back to the pic at the top of the page... does look more like an engine fire. I would have thought a modern ECU would cut the throttle after so many seconds bouncing off the rev limiter... any-one renting a car any time soon to try it and find out?
  6. Right... Your mitigation letter of "I didn't realise" will not help matters in the slightest - you are in fact opening yourself up to "driving without due care and attention" as you have admitted not paying attention to your speed!! Not the wisest of moves there mate, but you are only up for speeding, so don't worry about that!! 95+ is a court summons. 100 is instant ban. The court summons is usually because they want to take your license away from you. Approaching 30+ above limit, you'll be LUCKY if you only get 6 points on this one. You could get a ban of up to 2 months. If you're really unlucky, you'll get points and a ban!! Fine is dependant on magistrate and your financial circumstances - yes you will still get a fine if your outgoings are 20% more than your income, believe me!! Also £300 is the MINIMUM fine, so don't be shocked if they make you pay more - your mitigation letter where you admit to not having checked your speed in an unfamiliar car will do its damage here... as well as the knowledge the magistrate has on engines... old school dervs have shed loads of engine braking. I know modern ones have less, but at 20:1 compression compared to 10:1 for a petrol (example figures), the magistrate could get narky. I have been told by many solicitors that, as magistrates have seen it all before 100 times already that day, that it will take something exceptional to get their attention, otherwise all you're doing when you're pleading for leniency up there is saying "blah blah blah" to them!! Take this as a friendly note - PREPARE what you want to say! Also, how were you caught? Talivan, or copper in a car? If copper in a car, there's a very nice statement of how he travelled you for XYZ distance... the fact you've mentioned "average speed" in your letter makes me think it's this, in which case if he / she has written that they followed you at this speed for some distance, then your argument of "just crept over for a short period" will, at best, be ignored... Needing a license for a driving job will not necisarily save you from a ban if that's what the Magistrate want to give you - it saved me, but a friend still got banned. Inconvenience of public transport is exactly what the ban is meant to do to you, so that's a no-good plea, unless there really IS no alternative but to drive. Family relations & career damage, you need to be able to show how ths will happen. Magistrate argument will be... relationship - catch the train home! Career - well, you haven't mentioned driving for work other than getting there and back... everything is SDP useage, which is a luxary remember! Financial impact with insurers - this is part of your punishment and will carry no weight. Based on the advice that was given to me by a couple of solicitors when I was up in front of the magistrate for 90 - 95mph average in a temporary 50mph, at present your argument for keeping your license is poor, based purely on inconvenuence on not having a car. Now, I know this isn't the case - your car is essential to you!! So, you need to prepare some more before you stand infront of that Magistrate!! And yes, they will know about your existing 3 points, which will not bode well!! For me, I was going to get a 2 month ban and an effin huge fine!! However, serious financial troubles at the time, and the fact a ban would cost me my job, and my job is providing a service for the security, safety and convenience of the public working for a public service meant after a lot of pleading, and a LOT of discussion and deliberation between the two magistrates saw me keep my license, and receive a fine that I had a hope of paying! 6 points on the clean license tho!! Police had followed me for 2 miles at a distance of over 1/4 mile behind me, deserted lit motorway on a summer's night. I represented myself in court, based on 2 solicitor's advice!! (I like to check ) At the end of the day, WORSE CASE is 2 months ban + £1000 iirc. With the speed you were doing, you might get a 2 week ban imo, for which the Magistrate would say "if getting to work's difficult, take time off!". If you only get 6 points, count your lucky stars!! Magistrates like the power of hanging out heavy sentances... unofficially!! And I've heard that one even from an ex-Magistrate!! It's worthwhile you seeing a solicitor to see what you could get, and also to prepare those arguments and points to put to the Magistrate as to why you need to keep your license if they are looking to ban you. You should be able to see the duty solicitor (for free) at the court, but he will charge to represent you, and it's only the briefest of brief meetings you'll get!! If you don't have a solicitor representing you in court, and you get a morning hearing, don't expect to be heard in the morning!! My hearing was 11am I think... eventually heard at 4pm!! Distance for you to travel to the court does you no favours in terms of when you're heard either - I had to travel from Cardiff to Telford! Sorry if I sound pessermistic, but with my case, I had optimistic people constantly teling me "you might get off it scott free!", and at the end of the day, that gives false hopes. Speak to a solicitor, they may bring better news than I have! Good luck!
  7. Painted my track wheels with hammerite smooth... ...Now have hammerite melted ripple effect finish on them!! Another option could be fireplace paint - designed for high temperatures...
  8. Also says the same in the manual. Keep an eye on your oil - it'll probably not go down so quick any more tho...
  9. 1) Get legal advice pronto!! I believe you will be requiring a criminal law specialist here. (don't look so shocked! Driving offences are treated by criminal lawyers!) 2) Ignore said neighbour, and record any further attempts by them of witness intimidation, and threats to your family. Info for you: A threat, or threateing behaviour is assault... hitting someone is battery. If the police are already involved this much, don't even call your neighbour a name! And record (writing good, voice recording better) anything said by them to you / family etc. When you find yourself a solicitor, they will be able to advise you far more.
  10. Have used White Dove since they started dealing in SEAT's early last year... ...let's say, overall not a great result!! Massive waits to book a car in - we're talking about 2 months for warranty work or servicing!! Also, no courtesy cars for warranty work! I frequently get e-mails and PM's from people on the SEAT forums asking me if I can help things along a bit, as I have a bit of a rappor going on with the guys after having bought so many parts from them for my ICE install at the beginning of the year! Cars aren't cleaned at service, and make sure you ask what oil they're using - they insist on telling me that my AMK 210bhp engine is fine on boggo standard 15W40 mineral oil!!! Erm... no! They are OK with you supplying your own oil tho! Guys on the parts and service desks are ok, and will generally do their best for you!! However, last time my car was in for warranty work, it came back with covers missing, turbo hoses loose, fault codes I don't want to repeat, flat tyre, and a scratch on a freshly painted wing to name but a few problems!! The garage is over worked, and the jobs rushed! This shows when you get a car back with more faults than it went in with! I go there because, with the next SEAT dealer being a 100+ mile round trip to Swansea, there really isn't much option. However, I always make sure I work my way around the car following any work being done by them, just to finish them off properly! I'd say, go there if you have to - if you speak to the service desk guys (Matt, Craig and Carl), they will admit to having cars queuing to get on the ramps!! Oh, any body repairs are carried out by a company called TST - they have no in-house body shop. Finally, the sales team have been eyeing up my car for ages, but when I offered it to them, they said "we don't touch cars that we know are, or have been modified" - so why tell me for so long that you'd happily do me a deal on a new car then?? OK, that is the SEAT sales team, but be wary of the Skoda team!
  11. Friend of mine took his Leon Cupra there for a diagnostics... ...they charged him labour from the time he dropped the car off, to the time he collected it later that evening, even though the diagnostics had been printed off within an hour of him leaving the car there! I bought my car from there, but never had it serviced by them... a brand new car with some light surface scratches (polished out thankfully!), and headlights angled to the floor (position switch barely moved them, as the lights were pretty much as low as they could physically go!) - was told they were correct when I asked for alignment to be checked!! Let's just say I think I should be lighting up more than 1 cats eye at a time on a motorway!! Wasn't impressed! Have heard many bad stories of this dealership...
  12. The question is, did she try it on to help you make an informed judgement??
  13. I think my employer needs to see this! As they're always pressuring people to get to places on time or early by any means possible... ...kinda strange when my employer is the council, and my line manager is in the Safety Camera Partnership then preaching about speed limits whilst putting scameras up every 20 yards!! (and no, I refuse to get involved in any of that at work!)
  14. Well, my 283+bhp / 300lb/ft Leon Cupra R's up for grabs at
  15. I've just renewed my current contact for another year, having had this number for a year now... ...Had my works number for 3 years, which is how long I've been working there... ...And I've another phone here somewhere that's been going for 5 or 6 years... occasionally dig it out and send a text to myself to keep it going (was on contract, now PAYG, with the same
  16. It's when you go in to Ann Summers, and your g/f starts giving girls who look a little lost advice on what vibrator to go for... and you can't see anything *new* on the shelves, you realise that maybe, just maybe, you go there a little too often... For those nervous about going into Ann Summers, La Senza etc etc, Don't be!! Just get in there, pick something out for your girl, and give the cashier a wink on your way out!! Only once have I been in La Senza carrying Pizza tho - had several people saying I must've planned that right when the g/f spent ages in the changing rooms, not letting me see the outfits :( (well, until later!! )
  17. Hello!!! Coming to the meet on Saturday??
