  1. Guys, I need your help!!! Please see This Thread for info...
  2. On the day of the Bruntingthorpe Track Day, I have been (wrongly!!) accused of an act here in Cardiff. Unfortunately, I cannot go into detail on the case, so please don't ask me to! Now, I can prove a paper trail that shows I was at Brunty, or in the area all day, and have witnesses to show I was at certain places at certain times also... however, I am also after witnesses that my solicitor can contact in order to obtain a statement to say that between such-and-such times you saw me at the track day. Unfortunately, being on a borrowed computer at the mo (HDD died on mine!!), I can't post a piccie of me, the missus, or the car to jolt your memories... In case you've forgotton, the car was the "CK53" reg Black Leon Cupra R with the red TT wheels (followed by slick tyres, boiled brakes and cracked screen!!). If any of you wish to help me out, then please contact me!!! MODS: Please can you change the topic title for the listings so it reads JUNE and not JULY! Thanx!
  3. Not sure if there is a January meet yet, but keep an eye out!!
  4. There's not that many Octavia taxi's IN Cardiff tho!! It's mainly Omega's, a couple of Nissan QX's, some Mondy's, odd Rover 600, and some of the private hire firms have some Superbs... Then again, in my Leon I had the party-goers trying to flag me down... Hmmm, modified hot hatch - that's really going to be a taxi, isn't it?!
  5. Hello & Welcome!! Try & get to the meet tomorrow - see thread in Welsh section (13:00, Ffynon Wen pub on Thornhill Road)
  6. in that case, put them on the back, that way you'll only ever have to change 2 at a time... hopefully!! And as for tyre wear... Pirelli PZero Rosso in 225/40ZR18 fit, 4500 miles on the front... no track days or twisty routes!! That was barely 2 months worth :(
  7. Only once have I run Falcon Ziex 512 tyres... ...NEVER AGAIN!!! Long lasting tyre, yes. Quiet tyre, yes. Grippy tyre... well, "ok" in the dry, useless in the wet!!!
  8. Remember folks, recommendation by tyre and vehicle manufacturers is to have the best tyres on the rear I never had the problem of a dealer rotating my wheels, but I would have gone ballistic at one if they had done!!! That's probably what's happened though, but no harm in checking with the dealers about a potential suspension fault at the rear!
  9. Really feel for you mate!! My mother's car got bumped a couple of weeks back outside the house... damage angle exactly from a neighbour's driveway!! But, do you think they'll admit to it?? Nope... Not masses of damage tho, but still needs a new wing!! My sister's car got hit outside her old house by one of her neighbours a couple of years back - only got them to admit to it when they approached them, with other neighbours who witnessed it!! The neighbour that did the damage just drove off... new wing & bumper needeed there!! These things happen unfortunately... it's part of the reason I now drive a low value car - just can't be bothered with mindless people who don't give a f*ck about damaging yours!! Although, police who won't prosecute for criminal damage even on a confession really takes the p155!! Hope you get it all sorted, and hope you find the wood pecker!!
  10. No, the Criminal Protection Service would make sure the copper was arrested and charged on all sorts of charges, probably including vehicle theft, and the real criminal would be given a shed load of compensation!!!
  11. In all honesty mate, I'd say stick with a single sub, and have everything set up as it wants to be. Running a sub at too low an ohmage will not do it any good. Hopefully it will keep tripping out... before blowing the fuse. And if it doesn't trip out, hopefully the fuse will go before the amp does... But, you will be testing the limits!! I wouldn't recommend running at 2ohm if the amp isn't stable there.
  12. I knew the Sony software was bad, but didn't realise it was THAT bad!!
  13. So, they booked people already for bering cannonballers, and are looking out for more? Just how many cannonball events are there in a month??
  14. I went for the valves falling into the cylinders option, as it was the only major engine blow up option!! That is, of course, if J doesn't put it on its roof first!!
  15. Not bad for your "sensible road car"!! :p So, passenger laps?? Just let me nip to the loo before... and after!!
  16. Front fog lights don't bother me at all, as long as they're angled correctly! In some areas where people are blind and I've had a number of people pull out in front of me, then at all times of the day I have dipped beam and front fogs on - 10 emergency stops in 1 month saw me start that rule, and it's not an area I drive through regularly!! Surprisingly, since lighting up the car like a Christmas Tree, I've not had any problems!! Aside from that, I only use front fogs when either alone on a lane or country road, extreme heavy rain (where it's bouncing off the road enough so you can't see the road!) or in fog, which we get a lot of in these parts because of the hills and being close to the sea. Rear fog lights however - extremely rare I switch them on - they get used more when I'm working on the side of the road and I don't trust that drivers can see a roof lighting beacon, side lights and hazard lights enough!! Fortunately even this isn't that often, as I more regularly use the works vans... and yes, even with the high visibility strips on them, I've had someone run into the back of one of them!! I seldom use rear fogs even in fog as, whenever there is a car behind you, they're not needed!! I gauge whether they are needed by whether I can see the rear lights of other cars. If their fogs are a bit dazzling, mine stay off. If I can only see them by their rear fog lights, then mine come on. However, what I really hate is, like what happened to me last night... Driving through patchy fog (thick in places, clear in others), driving in a line of cars, we get to a thicker patch. Now, we're in a line of cars doing 40mph, and so with a 2 second gap, stil fairly close, and you can make out the sidelights of several cars in front. So, what does the car infront of me do?? "Oh, it's getting a bit foggier, I'll switch my rear fog lights on!". Me? "OW!! MY EYES!!!" Only the last car in the line needs their rear fog lights on, so cars coming up can see them!! (unfortunately, this does generally mean front fogs as well these days due to switch arrangements!)
  17. Clicky!! Should be safe for work... but you need sound!!
  18. The last Evo that came through my door had a feature on it Keep an eye on the mag racks!
  19. Earthing point worked loose / corroded? Wiring disturbed so loose connection? Alternator fault? Fuel pump fault? Poor ariel connection / ariel connection in contact with car body? HT lead as mentioned above? Did it start suddenly on its own for no apparant reason? Or was the car touched by a garage?
  20. Fix it When I was looking at cars recently, I walked away from any where the a/c didn't work.
  21. Very, very lucky!!! Now, SLOW DOWN!!!
