  1. Surely that's part of the PITA not to be relied on or trusted lane "assist". See the (skimpy) VWŠkoda 'Owner's Manual' for your model and year (or VIN), 'Driver assist systems' - 'Lane assist' particularly the 'Function restriction' section. - https://www.skoda-auto.com/apps/manuals/Models
  2. You might be better asking in the 'Skoda Octavia Mk3 (2013 - 2020)' forum, also get lots of information on the model from actual owners. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/235-skoda-octavia-mk3-2013-2020/
  3. Hi, welcome. For 2020 Superb - 'Skoda Superb Mk3 (2015 - 2023)' forum. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/299-skoda-superb-mk3-2015-2023/ Great offer. There's a forum for VCDS (OBDEleven) - Diagnostics & VCDS - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/23-diagnostics-amp-vcds/ Also there is section for those members who want to offer their VCDS plugged in help to other members (might(?) need to have x-number of posts first(?)). - 'List of VCDS Owners (Previously known as VAG-COM) & VCP Owners' - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/262215-list-of-vcds-owners-previously-known-as-vag-com-vcp-owners/#comment-3091029 Cheers.
  4. Seems to be a great potential choice, particularly if you have been using it for a couple of oil changes. Possibly a bit more than you personally need given you drive your Felicia very carefully (maiden aunt going to Sunday church style) but also given how infrequently you drive your Felicia the extra protection would be most welcome. I think @D.FYLAKTOS should test it in his Felicia for real world use be he is against 50 weights, the "Made in Germany" should be an attraction though (for you German car /German car engineering fans). I would favour it over a VW choice.
  5. Hi, welcome. In case you've not already seen there's plenty of information, advice and help in Octavia Mk3, and other, forums. 'Škoda Octavia' section. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/169-%C5%A1koda-octavia/ Good luck.
  6. Hi, welcome. What do you want checking? What model and year is it as you might be better asking in the relevant model and year forum - as an example only 2015 Fabia Mk3 in 'Skoda Fabia Mk3 (2014-2021)' forum.
  7. Hi

Hi, Simon, welcome. In case you've not seen it on here there's a Škoda Karoq section. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/365-%C5%A1koda-karoq/

I was told Bosch is Varta and the Varta has JCB on it so possibly/probably that was the three letter code used (not that it matters). Personally I would slow recharge the Bosch battery to full before installing it into the Yeti that way you know it started its Yeti use as best it could be. ETA: I've suggested to the Mod that this thread would be better in the Yeti forum than this 'Handy Topics & Guides' forum.

Hi, welcome. Been a few new members perhaps new to decades old cars and ownership of them so getting real life information from current owners and a couple who have owned them from brand new is more than just useful. Obviously there are variations in models in different countries but most things are common. If you have not already done so have a look and perhaps ask in the Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda Forman forum. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/90-skoda-favorit-skoda-felicia-skoda-fun-and-skoda-forman/ Good luck.
  10. Hi, welcome. In case you have not seem it, there is a Skoda Kodiaq MK1 (2017-2023) forum on the site. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/339-skoda-kodiaq-mk1-2017-2023/ Good luck.
  11. You've forgotten the driver, further driver training for road (and perhaps some talent) for track talent (and perhaps further driver training / experience). I've no idea what a SUV is now, I can understand sitting higher and being surrounded with more metal (and plastic) can give confidence to the school run vehicle, same as the 4X4 Chelsea tractors, off- road vehicles that really means pavement mounting (with big easily damaged cosmetic wheels and tyres). You may think 15" wheels are small and yes to some extent the weight and potential (illegal) high speeds need bigger brakes, but glorified shopping trolley cars having 17"wheels. 40 years ago a Ford Transit van which could be very loaded and heavy at times were on 185 (80!) 14 tyres (just for weight comparison). We're all Americanised now everything has to be bigger, cos that's better. 😄 300bhp isn't much to some, and more, and much more, can be useable easily, whether really needed or practical is another matter (and no need for all the electronics and/or other than 2WD, and at the rear at that). No matter how much power you have available in the right circumstances even on UK roads you could sometimes want more, not need more - but most of the time you'll use a fraction of what is available. Even a low powered car (whatever your definition of that is) can be using a smaller amount of its available power. A gauge to show how much is being used a lot of the time would surprise many owners. I think it's still the case that many car journeys are with only one or two people in the car and it's not load with much else so it has to carry it's own weight plus the one or two but has much unused potential to carry 5 and luggage at illegal speeds. And as you put 300bhp, this might be fine in a light car but what about in a heavy car, eating further into the power to weight figure. Numbers are the obsession now but if you forget them and just go by how things feel, the driving experience, then less can be more, but that's not fashionable now (or comparable with or for others). Things might change and go back to much lower power cars, for those that bother having cars.
  12. HRS - heated rear screen(?), HRC?
  13. Service records (such as they are) will be on the computer, well those that have been put on the computer or perhaps previous owner(s) might have kept paper printed copies (as well as the invoices/bills for the servicing and maintenance). There can be "individual record" for the one visit or "complete record" for to that date and the VWŠkoda HQ record ("Service History Certificate") of what's been put on the computer. All could have errors but mostly don't but won't should all work done. The 5 year /50k-miles replacement scam that VWŠkoda was previously pulling has been, er, pulled, as of 1st July 2023, see - CamBeltchangechange.pdf As you probably know important things are brakes, steering and suspension, the tyres are part of all three so their age and condition is important. For (what VWŠkoda call their "service" and "maintenance") some consider regular timely brake fluid changes are important, others aren't concerned. For the engine regular and timely engine oil and filter changes and and also engine air filter and spark plugs changes. DSG boxes have oil changes too. VWŠkoda Dealership "services" are basically little more than an engine and oil filter change and a "free health report" looking for more chargeable work, the maintenance schedule covers a little more but not much. A car with a full Dealership service history wouldn't be considered fully and properly serviced by many of us (older) owners. HTH.
  14. See how you get on at payday when you fill the tank or take the gauge well passed the low positions, things might free up with use and out of sticky range.
  15. Hi, welcome. Sorry, bad luck. Which part or parts of your post do you want advice on? If the fuel system has been contaminated then AFAIK (which ain't far) parts and labour will be expensive, I'm not sure taking a gamble and/or cutting corners now would save costs in the end. You might be better asking in the Skoda Octavia Mk3 forum as the owners and others there will have more knowledge and experience about or of this. Give details of engine code and size and put it's a 2017 car (with 150,000 miles) - Skoda Octavia Mk3 forum - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/235-skoda-octavia-mk3-2013-2020/ HTH.
  16. To keep things simple (unlike VW) the click stop for heaters I found to be opposite the the off setting, as in the photos Lee01 put up. The mirrors switch has backlighting but no more than that. I think you're being a bit optimistic about the glass being warm/hot but I might be wrong and you can let us know. I find the VWŠkoda Owner's Manual to be less helpful than many others (particularly with the silly way VW goes about oil specification and lack of fluid capacities that others manufacturers give freely and some bits do appear to have been written by a German engineering student in their native language to be sent to somewhere like China to be translated to English. And the later versions for the newer models seem to be worse.
  17. I'll check tomorrow where the click stop is for heaters on my wife's car as I've never used it and can't remember the line position the one time when I had to turn it back from heaters. As for the line not lining up with the heater symbol I'm sure there's some German engineering logic reason for it beyond the understanding of non-German engineers, a lot of what they do and don't do is beyond me being much more used to British and Japanese cars.
  18. Tune the car and/or tune the driver there is a case for either or both, all posters (and yes I do include myself) have given good ideas for all that view to decide from. Personally I'm not against either as I've had some of my cars modestly turned for performance which will include more power, torque and mpg (if you don't take advantage of the extra power and torque too much for good mpg but most will, I did often). I've had a bit of further driving training and I'm still not a good driver but like many my age have decades of driving experience and in road cars you had more driving, and servicing and driver maintenance, input than the more remote modern cars so more fun and "fun" (not).
  19. Totally unnecessary. 😄 We're on the same page and wavelength, er, not radio wavelength tho', about this matter just a generation, or two, apart with what's light and low powered. The obsessions now are about numbers being bigger (suppose they always were but not to modern extremes) hp, revs, high (number) speeds, loudness, height and wideness of wheels and tyres. Have less and be able to use more of it and enjoy more of it. Unless you're on a racetrack legal speed limits are 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 you could be bored to tears in a bigger more powerful car or having fun maintaining legal and safe speeds and driving in a smaller low powered car behind it. Someone in a reasonably standard electric car will out accelerate both of you so why worry. 😀
  20. I can give a guide from an idiot. My wife's car isn't here at the moment and going on my memory isn't always best but looking at the (PITA and yes even less well written) online manual for a 2021 it shows it as the same as in my wife's 2015 SE. You have going clockwise, 'L' - '0' - 'R' - then gap and heater symbol. ETA: If you have a fold setting this appears to be first by Stonekeeper's post and as AG Falco has put you may need the ignition turned on. First get the line on the knob to line up with '0' (for off). Imagine that under the knob is the stalk like on your previous Fabias with manual (mechanical) adjustment - sorry, from my wife's 2015 'Owner's Manual' but it shows both types to help with this visualisation. To adjustTo adjust the left (passenger side) door mirror rotate turn the knob to click on to 'L' (line on knob in line with 'L') with the knob like this with one finger you can lift (tilt) or push (tilt) the knob up, down, left, right from it's centre point to move the mirror glass in that direction. Once set you can let the knob sit in its centre position and rotate turn the knob to off ('0'). Or rotate turn the knob to click on to 'R' (line on the knob is in line with 'R') to adjust the right (driver's side) door mirror. I hope that makes sense, give it a try and let me know if not. If you use the heater position remember to return it to the off position when no longer wanted (unlike my wife and I didn't notice until that April as I never use that setting as when I scrape or clear the door and boot windows I also do the exterior mirrors at the same time, I'm very used to doing such.
  21. As above, but you don't necessarily need a turbo, depends on what car and engine and fuel type. Fast is relative and I've driven many thousands of motorway miles with cars of low power and speed, easily and safely. And many hundreds around mid and north Wales. A smaller, lighter car (of around the same power or 75hp as standard) may suit you better, like Citigo/Up if you must have a VWŠkoda.
  22. OK thanks. But it still seems odd that the great German engineers would allow an oil company to give them the wrong oil for their gearboxes, must have been the oil company's fault, surely not the German engineers, sulphur's been in gear oils for a while. VW holding back stuff from their customers, again surely not. It wasn't the first time a manufacturer has been economical with the truth and I'm not the last. I's a bad show but that's how thing got and are with the general motor trade.
  23. I'm not an expert in anything, including lubrication oils, but the G052512A2 that German oil suppliers sell seem to me to look like a pretty standard (SAE) 75w, (API) GL-4 transmission oil similar/same(?) to the oil I used in my 1970s car's transmissions until a few years ago, crude old transmissions they were too. https://pim.liqui-moly.de/pdf/en_GB/liqui/31/P004182 https://webservice.tecalliance.services/pegasus-3-0/documents/20803/564045180275377
  24. Thanks for the link (and link from link). If the articles are correct then it certainly looks like I'm probably right with VW falsely blaming the synthetic oil to cover their design and build compromisers and mistakes. - "The fragile design of the mech unit sets it up for easy failure." - https://www.team-bhp.com/news/understanding-vw-skoda-dsg-dq200-failures-detail And following a link in the linked article - "Synthetic oil was replaced by mineral oil. As synthetic oil had corrosive additives which were eating away the main mechatronic seal. And was conducting electricity and shorting the TCU/Mech unit. All oils conduct electricity but synthetics are much more conducive compared to other oils. So, this solved the shorting issue." - https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/technical-stuff/288240-understanding-vw-skoda-dsg-dq200-failures-masterclass-srinivas.html#post5886005 The make up of the blend and additive package can be altered but the likes of VW always seem to have their own demands rather than letting specialists er, specialise, possibly for saving a few cents on each box fill by sticking with cheaper blend. German auto engineering (good) quality started to drop off around the turn of the century but a good reputation takes a lot longer to lose than a bad reputation, more than 25 years it would seem.
  25. Hi, welcome. If you've not already done so then looking at and or asking in the 'Skoda Octavia Mk3 (2013 - 2020)' forum will probably help with questions, or more specialised other forums.
