If your car has zero towing capacity on the ID plate you may not be able to do anything. When I ordered my iV I didn’t go for the tow bar prep option as the cost of adding the tow bar on top of that was way too much for me as well as the cost of the bike rack. Weirdly I had no option for a complete factory fit tow bar. Mine is a work lease car so I give it back in 4 years - I wasn’t prepared to pay so much for something which would only last for such a short time. Unfortunately people have to realise that towing is a niche need in the general car market, and that most people who want to tow caravans etc will probably be buying a SUV nowadays than an Octavia so it won’t be a priority for our cars. Personally I am going for a roof rack for my bikes as it more cheaply moved to a new car later on, maybe a change of footpack or at most the feet and the bars - and the ones I take off still have value 2nd hand unlike tow bars which just stay with the car.

Wow. Still persisting? 🙄 After a couple of decades experience in retail I can guarantee you that trying to make your name by rubbishing other peoples products never ends well.

Look we get it, you’re trying to sell your product. But rubbishing the product Skodamk4 has made, for a small fraction of what you are charging, isn’t the best way to go about your business. Some people might want the original kit fitted for a few hundred pounds, others like me can’t afford and and in any case would be quite happy to save a huge amount of money and just have one tiny discreet cable in a place you can barely see it. And I’ve said before the signal amplification just isn’t needed.

What is the surface finish to those chargers? Hard to tell from photos. Standard is a rubber mat and I’d like it to be not slippy so the phone doesn’t move about.

We keep our keys in a little metal box in the hallway. I’ve not really had any issues with my car yet. Occasionally it won’t overtake when on ACC but it’s only when it’s really busy when I don’t really need it on.

If they are Thule they must be an old design they are fobbing off on Skoda as they look nothing like the current Thule products.

It’s not just manual boxes that are on their way out, it’s gearboxes full stop. Electric cars don’t need them. Love how people are complaining about the DSG box - how many people on here who only want a manual can do proper heel and toe clutchless shifting? Like my dad does - an ex rally driver. If you don’t do it or can’t then there’s no “extra control” with a manual box. And unless you are proper thrashing a car round the bends there’s no advantage to that any more - it’s not as if engine braking is needed that much nowadays with the brakes we have now.

They can be rusty sitting for a few hours sometimes! Nothing to worry about most of the time. Check them just after you’ve been for a drive and see if they are better then.

Every car company is the same. I spoke to my friend yesterday who is a fleet operations manager for Audi, he said he had 2000 cars on his books which have been ordered. He said one person who ordered a couple of hundred cars had 2 cars with identical spec, ordered the same day, with consecutive build numbers. One has just been delivered, the other one is going to be a few more weeks at least. The last thing he said to me was “don’t try to figure out when a car is going to be delivered, you’ll be wrong, the dealers don’t know anything and the manufacturers are just pumping out what they can when they can, they can’t predict what will be made and when”. So until you get your “your car is a the dealers ready to be delivered” notification don’t try to second guess what’s going to happen. He said they are quoting 14 months for a lot of Audi models now.

Thanks - which one would you choose if you had to buy again? I like the new Thule bars but blimey they are expensive.

I suppose the only issue with the bars is that if you change car and the new car needs a different length bar you still have to change all the components but that would probably be the same for other makes too. The noise thing does concern me. I would probably leave the bars on but attach the bike mounts when I wanted them on, the Yakima ones have quite a neat attachment system.

I don’t have anything which would fit right now I could transfer to the Skoda directly.

They are a) ugly b) expensive (more than Yakima) c) not very aerodynamic d) not available in flush style, only through style. I don’t know who they are made by, but it’s not Thule/Yakima/Atera as far as I can see, probably a budget brand by their looks. I have come from the Volvo world and all Volvo roof gear is made by Thule, and you can often get Thule stuff branded as Volvo a lot cheaper online.

I need to get some roof bars for my Octavia Estate and am set on the Yakima flush bar set (around £210 here in the UK). I have been a loyal Thule user before but their flush bars are £100 more which seems excessive! Not interested in the Skoda OEM ones. I can’t seem to see any pics of Mk4 Octavias with roof racks on - so what do you have and can you supple a decent pic of the roof rack? Not just a pic of the whole car! I am going to be putting 2x bike holders on only BTW.

I doubt the Skoda system will find the album covers for you, so it depends on how the cover is stored on the USB. Might be a separate file? On my car the albums covers are on because I connect my phone up to it which already has them on. I’ll try and connect a USB with the raw MP3 files on to see if that works.

Geeez dude you need to chill. I never mentioned faults, that’s a seperate issue. Maybe giving up the car and walking in some fresh air might help you calm down. 😂😂

There’s not much to protect…

I’ve been in so many different cars recently, all of them had some sort of auto high beam headlights, some with matrix ones - all different makes and models - and none of them work very well. Stick with the standard lights - the ones on my SEL/Style are excellent I reckon.

I would just go for it. Life’s too short to not make those decisions that make you happy. It’s a desirable car so if you hate it in 6 months it’ll be easy to move on as there will still be waiting lists. just do it!!
