  1. https://www.euronews.com/business/2024/09/09/audi-row-with-brussels-workers-heats-up-as-it-demands-return-of-keys Interesting article. Apologies if it’s already been discussed.
  2. I’d say keep it…..but, if you want an A5 get one, you’re only here once.
  3. On the other hand, I read most of the doom on here and still bought a 1.5tsi act Superb with a dq200 gearbox. Mine is only 2 years old admittedly but I saw several with well over 100k miles during my search. Hundreds of thousands if not millions of vag group cars worldwide are fitted with them.
  4. Please could you DM me the reg number so I can make a few checks ? cheers
  5. I’ve had two 1.4tsi estates, a 2014 and a 2015. Absolutely awesome engine, both of mine had over 100,000 miles on when I sold them, still original turbos and clutch. Both were very reliable, I serviced them every 10,000 miles in my opinion these engines will easily do 200k miles. Whilst I don’t see the timing belt and water pumps as being any kind of issue, both of mine needed new water pumps around 80,000 miles, they both started dripping coolant so I just noticed the level dropping slightly. The water pump assembly cost about £250 from Skoda and I fitted them myself, they are driven off the gearbox end of the exhaust cam by their own little toothed belt. I would add that I now have a 1.5tsi act Superb and find that to be a great engine too. All the best in your search.
  6. lanrally, the solution is there from logiclee. My Superb did the same thing, with an iPhone just forget/delete the cars WiFi network from your phone and everything will work via Bluetooth using your phone data.
  7. Skoda service schedules and the various dealers applications of those schedules are a joke. Once you accept this as fact, diy it, use a specialist or reputable garage that you trust then you can enjoy the cars.
  8. Not dull at all, keeps it all in perspective. Probably another £8 to £9 per day on fuel.
  9. Last few times I have phoned dealer I suspect it was a call centre. Person answering is different every time, they cannot answer any questions about anything and always arrange for relevant department to call back.
  10. Ootohere, do you know if that TTEC answers any general calls to their dealerships if someone at the dealer doesn’t answer within a certain time ?
  11. We do now, compared insurance, tax, maintenance etc etc to cost of a few taxis, buses and occasional train and it was a no brainer compared to running a second car that was doing less than 4k miles a year - but it is the Superb estate that is the one car ! It depends on your location for access to public transport or taxis….
  12. Dealer service prices are absolutely insane !
  13. They are excellent, the drivetrain is very reliable and like you say a large boot. It was the rear legroom that wasn’t enough for us when I looked at a Corolla Touring Sports, but I saw you could buy a new Swace for thousands less than even a year old Toyota and it is literally a different badge stuck on at the factory. Enjoy.
  14. Good choice. I was looking at these and they are a Corolla, even built in the same factory.
  15. @JeffffeJ Yes, I would say below 1500 rpm is definitely time to change down a gear with a small petrol engine. Modern engines are built to such high standards they really do work quite happily straight out of the box. Ive driven the mk3 1.0 mpi and really like them. I’m glad they still fit this in the mk4, should be a reliable good car.
  16. Just don’t go into the red line*. Anything else is ok, drive it like you want to*. Better, if anything, to use the gears and keep it revving freely than labouring in a high gear. * * Purely in my own personal opinion 😄.
  17. Superb estate. I’ve had 3 Octavia estates and a relative has a karoq. Karoq has the suv height advantage if you like that but superb has better boot than Octavia and the karoq, and more legroom especially the rear, still good economy (my 1.5 tsi estate is as good, actually slightly better, on petrol than my previous 1.4 tsi Octavia. I have a roof mounted bike carrier which is easier to load than it would be on an suv, but carrying a single bike I just put it in the boot and rarely use the roof carrier any more.
  18. I don’t know the policy but my 2022 Superb reported it needed an update a couple of weeks ago, I pressed the button displayed to do it and a couple of days later it said it was done. You would think if the car has internet access to be told it needs an update it could obtain that update with same access ?
  19. Welcome, there’s certainly plenty of info on here for MK1 vRS’s. Hopefully it doesn’t need to much work !
  20. Service history as it used to be was killed by electronic service records and gdpr. It’s unfortunate but nothing can now be done to get anything detailed about a car such as the one you want from cinch. The dealers of basically all types, franchise, and car supermarkets don’t care as long as there is a minimal history on the online system to satisfy the definition of service history, or say it hasn’t got history and knock a few hundred quid off. Their view is anything else that could break will be covered by a warranty or will be the buyers bad luck. As you say Woohah the best you can possibly get is a printout of the basic service history.
  21. It had a good innings. Hopefully the new one lasts 11 years and 200,000 odd miles.
  22. Filled it back up with petrol.
  23. From a grey Superb owner, your wrap looks excellent.
  24. I’d go with langers on the more to that story than meets the eye theory. I honestly don’t know if cruise control would react to a tyre blowing out, but it could only do 2 things, either disengage or stay activated. Either way it isn’t driving the car your son was. From the pictures the right front tyre looks flat but otherwise intact so it didn’t blow out and doesn’t look like it ran flat for very long if it all.
