  1. Looks like @J.R. is right - have a look at this post about the front grill of the MK3: If you have the patience to read all the posts there, it seems that most agree that the entire front bumper needs to be removed to safely "unclip" the frame of the grill.
  2. AutoLock On/Off can be added to the car's menu - it's now possible via 1-click App in Obd-eleven. I would never turn it off, but since you were concerned about it...
  3. Yes and no... When I agreed to give up the rear-view cam and the park-assist, the dealer sent me an Addendum to the Contract with a price reduction - corresponding to the two options that were removed.
  4. Agreed, I didn't invoke the reasons; only the consequences...
  5. Personally, I think it's related to the changes they made in the option-list for each trim level. When I ordered mine, which is a Style trim, the rear-view camera was on the option list, and I had it added as part of the Clever-Pack. This is no longer available as an option for Style, at least on the local Skoda car Configurator or at the dealer. Now obviously, keeping the option will directly impact the course of the car down the production line newly reconfigured for 2022 models. For instance they will have to produce a Style with the electrical wiring of a higher model. Sure, that's not hard to do, but they prefer to keep things simple for cost reductions (profit maximization).
  6. Wow!!! 9 months? What did they have to do? What about the car warranty - do they extend it somehow? You lost about 1/4 of it with the car being at the dealer.
  7. This light one comes with 0 costs in RO (and other markets), optional to the black interior - depending on the trim level you choose.
  8. Sorry, I fail to really understand this question. Once you're on the motorway at constant cruising speed a car is not using all the engine power (be it IC or EV). Unless you're on the German Autobahn (on a limitless section) "cruising" flat out at the upper speed limit of you car, fighting the air resistance. Just think about it: two different engines (but the same shape and masses - let's say Octavia mk4) doing 130km/h on the same highway, same conditions (wind, slope etc), one having 100hp and the other 245hp - they will need the same amount of power to keep that speed constant. And that power is far below those 100hp, I'm guessing somewhere around 25hp. Now if you ask that IC engine (using the hybrid control system) to also charge the battery while cruising at the same constant speed, it will add several HP to do that and this will probably increase the consumption by about 1-2 liters/100km (or decrease the mileage equivalently). Ideally you would want to always have some juice left in the batteries, just to be able to use all the combined power (IC+EC) when you need it.
  9. Imagine that for the same car you topically have 2 wheel sizes specified; 16&17, 17&18 or 18&19 - depending on the model. That means there will be a negligible speed difference between those two. The spare wheel is not intended as a long-term use - it is meant to take you to the nearest tire service in order to repair your flat... So there's no problem with that. e.g.: My 14 years Megane 2 was delivered with 4 16" alloys (205 wide tires) and the spare is a 16" steel (195 wide tire). My GT arrived with 4 18" alloys (225 wide) and the spare is a 17" steel rim (145 wide 😒) limited to 80km/h...
  10. Sure, thanks for the heads up! I'm already decided to go for an OBDeleven Pro, but I'll have to find a proper step-by-step tutorial to correctly code the camera. There's no rush, since my car has no production week specified yet...
  11. Yep, most of the kits I found online have those cables included. The two pictures below are from an online offer of OEM kit which is about 400 Euro here in RO - without installation costs. However, the Chinese alternatives are a lot cheaper, also with cables included, e.g. this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003500261883.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.52a12e0eFv2g5I I doubt the picture quality will be a lot poorer that the OEM one, since plenty of people were complaining about the original camera...
  12. Can you tell us how complicated it was in terms of wiring? I'm curios what was the factory setup - if there were any existing wires from the dashboard to the back of the car. Or did the retrofit procedure involved new wires from the back to the front of the car? I've seen a tutorial online for VAG rear-view camera retrofit (not an Octavia MK4) and there were 3 main wires to connect: - power supply connected to a fuse-box into the left-side-wall of the trunk; - CAN BUS connection under the back seats; - signal cable from the camera all the way to the MMI controller. All those cables were part of the camera kit and had to be installed during the retrofit.
  13. They're only doing that to bother "the greens" in Germany... 😉 And in a couple of years those German diesels will arrive in south-eastern Europe as second-hand cars, once the westerns will dramatically restrict diesel engines. Those who are from this part of the continent know what I mean.
  14. That would mean it's also possible to be coded? (OBDeleven or VCSD...) Same as for the "cornering lights" and the "traffic sign recognition"? As long as the hardware is there, it's just a matter of enabling/disabling those functions.
  15. It was a similar situation for me in Bucharest - you can see the details on the previous page of this topic. Long story short, they wanted to know if I would give up the park-assist (had it before, never used) and the rear-view camera (I'd like to have, but it's not a must). The time estimates were ambiguous, but with a quite clear difference: - if I remove the 2 options, the car will be delivered within the initial estimates of the Contract (35-45 weeks starting August), most likely well before the deadline; - if I keep the options they will not be able to specify any delivery estimate, even beyond 45 weeks. I decided that if I won't be able to live without the camera, I'll retrofit it using the money they gave back from the initial Contract. For instance: I wouldn't have given up the Matrix-LED, or the ACC... you should decide based on what's really important for you.
  16. Right, from the speed point of view the difference is about 3% between the 2 tyre dimensions, which is covered by the speedometer error anyway, so that's not the main concern. Two main reasons not to use the unlisted tyre dimension: - routine checks (authorities may not be too happy with that); - insurance companies; I've heard more than one situation when they refused to cover the expenses following an accident, invoking the technical nonconformity of the car - since the tyres/rims were not those specified in the car's certificate. So personally, I wouldn't use those for the long run, maybe just as a temporary solution over a short time&distance.
  17. I think mods like SS changed to "last setting", or driving mode changed to "last setting" are just a matter of time. Let's not forget SFD was locked for OBDelleven until few days ago. Also, it's a bit confusing for some people (me included) the fact that OBD11 tweaks can now be found on no less than 3 separate topics on this mk4 forum. Those could be easily merged... @TheUltraRunner on a different forum, of my other car, we used to call the start-stop "the second button to push inside the car", first one being the engine start button. And yes, it used to be a dedicated physical button, no need to boot-up a computer for that... 🤕
  18. @Zhivkov00 Hello neighbor (same region of Europe), really interesting news from you! I thought the sales/delivery policy was similar in our countries... but no! I was called recently (last week) by the dealer to give up the rear-view camera in order to have the car built in the next few months. To be clear: not sooner, but sometime next year... They underlined that the Factory message was clear: keeping park-assist and rear-view camera on the car, will delay the production beyond the initial delivery time-window. Even the western-markets are now lacking the optional rear-view mirror. But it's standard on vRS if I understood corectly, so that might explain why you don't have to remove it... Anyway, fingers crossed - hope you get your vRS soon!
  19. Sorry, not sure what to answer to that, I'd hate to give a wrong advice. I'll have to wait several more months before I can test the procedure on my own Octavia. Try surfing the web for a step-by-step guide, or pop the question on the other OBD11 topic, where they already played with mods.
  20. @timster: see my post on this topic on Wednesday at 16:06. The way they explained it, it's not actually speeding up my delivery (with respect to the Contract specified limit), but this way I avoid being pushed on a list with delays larger than the initial projections of the Contract.
  21. Did you try auto-unlock or manual-unlock of SFD? OBD11 says it's done since November 9th: https://obdeleven.com/fr/latest-news/post/45_sfd-unlocked-with-obdeleven-.html?page_type=post Reports of people started tweaking mk4 are also here:
  22. This is one way to do it, quite safe and almost plug-and-play solution:
  23. @sneal yep, the reports I saw also mentioned random occurrence of the back-seat ghost playing with the interior lights... 👻 @PITBULL4X4 As far as I know, the standard 4-years warranty from the Constructor is international - so you can use any Skoda representative in Europe (at least). Only the extra-warranty sometimes offered by the Seller is limited to that particular dealership.
  24. That can't be right, since I ordered mine in August (2nd half) and I was told yesterday that there's no chance I get it in the next 2-3 months, even after I gave up the 2 options as the Factory proposed.
  25. Ideally, you should have a USB-C - this way you avoid the need for an adapter (from usb-c to usb-a), since Octavia mk4 comes with USB-C connectors.
