Sound deadening project
In an unfortunate event (that was also the end of my Megane GT - some smart guy making a U-turn in front of me on an expressway) I found out what Renault did to keep the noise from the wheel arch away from the cabin. Inside the empty volume that is delimited by the front fender on the outside, the engine compartment on the inside and the wheel arch on the bottom, those guys added a plastic bag that was filled with foam bubbles/flakes. I can tell you that it did a pretty good job - there was no noise coming from the wheel/road contact/friction. If there was any, it was covered by the noise coming from the A-pillar and/or side-view mirrors. And yes, what U see in the picture is a broken plastic front fender - Renault was using that since Megane 2; it's designed to shatter into pieces on impact and thus dissipate as much energy as possible...

Delivery times?
I've got a nice update: - this morning I checked the Skoda App (as I've been doing every morning in my coffee time) and the car miraculously showed up! - some 30 minutes later the dealer writes to me saying the car is ready for shipment and is waiting for the next transport from the factory - whenever that might be... So to summarize: - car ordered @ Aug.23rd 2021 - VIN received @ July 13th 2022 - VIN accepted by SkodaApp @ Aug.23rd 2022 - car shows up in SkodaApp @ Aug.31st 2022 (the same day the dealer notified the car is completed)

Hard brake pedal with the engine off
yep, precisely that behaviour... It might happen that just before parking the car I drive through a patch of slushy snow, that will deposit a thin layer of water on the slightly warm rear brake-disks. The parking brake will apply the rear brake-pads on that water layer that will freeze once the temperature goes down (we do occasionally go well below -10 Celsius). Good-luck releasing the parking brake in such conditions... It finally does, with a loud "bang" after you try to pull away and after the rear suspension compresses... I hope you manage to find a decent Skoda-service to identify the problem (if you're the same @akon I saw on the Romanian forum), it's hard to find good mechanics around here, and even harder those who would do their best to help the customer... Try to reproduce yourself the fault, and do check if the brake pedal becomes hard in a couple of minutes, or if it needs several hours for the system to loose the vacuum. This way you can tell them exactly how to go into faulty-mode. In my case it needed at least 6-8 hours.

Hard brake pedal with the engine off
+1 I also switched it off during winter, especially when very low temps were expected. I don't have my Octavia delivered yet, but for sure it's not normal behavior.

Hard brake pedal with the engine off
Yes, I had this issue on several occasions on my old Megane 2 (and started using the hand-brake), and I found a possible explanation online. It seems that the brake booster (the so-called brake-force amplifier) is gradually loosing the buffered pressure, or vacuum to be more precise. It's usually a small leak, so it doesn't lose it in a few minutes after the engine was off, but it does over several hours... I found post of other people complaining about it, and they were mentioning that's usually solved by replacing the brake booster or the vacuum pipes between the engine and the booster - since the leakage is either on the piping or on the booster membrane. Either way, in your case it should be a replacement covered by warranty. It could make sense that autohold or hill-hold does also fail in those conditions, since those systems are applying a small amount of braking force to hold the car; if that force is "calibrated" to be be just enough when the booster is amplifying it, then it might be insufficient on those occasions when the boost is unavailable. (I'm not sure if this explanation attempt makes any kind of sense to you...) However, as @roottoot mentioned, the parking-brake (or hand-brake) should still work. Are they all failing at the same time?

I think the answer you're looking for may be found here: Just search through previous posts, they added some more info some time ago...

Delivery times?
Cool!!! That means you'll have it in a couple of weeks! I just had a quick look at the stock of Octavias in Romania, and they just added a few more since last week. According to my last discussions to the dealer, those seem to be old orders of some customers that had enough waiting and canceled the order at the dealer. However, the order remained inline at the factory and now some dealers have one or more cars in stock at a huge profit. Because those particular cars were ordered at the factory with the old prices and are now sold with the new prices... The cars in stock that were just added are all TDI 150cp DSG 4x4 with a few less options than mine, but they are about 5.000 Euro more expensive than my order. Mine is not a 4x4, so that's about 1.500 Euro difference, but all in all it compensates the price of the options that are missing. So I'd say that's a net profit of ~5 kEuro for the dealer that was lucky enough to have a customer that gave up the order.

Delivery times?
Just curious: how long did it take for your car to show the real picture in the app - since the app first accepted the VIN? Was your grey picture also a Kodiaq, or was it an Octavia Combi in gray? My VIN was accepted two days ago in the App, but it shows the "wrong" grey picture and some error code (500), advising to contact the infoline... That's on the web-based Skoda-connect; on the phone the mySkoda App simply doesn't want to show the garage, saying "Sorry, there is a server issue". And I had the VIN about 1,5 months before it was accepted by the App. L.E.: Nevermind... I was able to find the answer by searching through your previous posts... You mentioned on August 16 that you had the same "problem" as I have now... grey-different car + error message. So it seems I must wait for 7-10 days (if I'm lucky) before the grey shadow of the Kodiaq miraculously morphs into my future Silver Octavia...

"One small step for mankind, one giant leap for myself" if I was to reversely quote Armstrong... Today Skoda-Connect (the web one, not the App) accepted my VIN, car added to the garage, but... Still waiting for the right picture of the car; for now it says "We cannot start the service" and shows a grey silhouette of a Kodiaq. I immediately wrote to the dealer and she said the status is not yet "Completed & ready for shipment to RO", so my watch goes on... BTW - today it's exactly 1 year since I placed the order!

Delivery times?
Yep, I had exactly the same kind of dialogue with my dealer. The answer was "no, we can't guarantee that; since we cannot guarantee a delivery date anyway... but there are so many unfinished cars 'cause of lack of components..." Therefore I thought it kind of made sense... I'm not going to miss the park-assist; it's the reverse camera I regret giving up. Now seeing the very same configuration (even higher spec'ed) ordered later and delivered sooner than mine, that really pi*** me off! So far I wasn't giving a rat's ass on the delay... now it bothers me.

Delivery times?
Right you are unfortunately... Today I found out from a friend that his neighbor just received his car, almost identical to mine - same trim level, but even more options than the packs I have. He also ordered a TDI 150hp DSG, but his order is almost 1 month later than mine, so he ended up paying several kEuro more than me. That's because some clever-pack discounts were no longer applicable in Romania several weeks after I placed the order. So why the *** did they ask me to remove some options from the order??? That's a really bad joke!!! I now admit I was stupid to accept their proposal, but I must give the credit to Skoda for most of the guilt.

Protection
Just curious: what was the cost of each of the two protections? I imagine there won't be that much different in Romania...

Delivery times?
Same here... However, the "fail" message is different between skoda-connect web-based app and the MySkoda mobile-app. First one is telling me "Your vehicle is not equipped with both "ŠKODA Connect" and "SmartLink features".", while the second one says "The operation was unsuccessful". Which one to believe? 😁

Hybrid versus petrol and diesel: a comparison of real-life fuel consumption
My understanding is that all PHEVs "reserve" some percentage of the battery capacity to be accessible ONLY to the hybrid system, and not to the user as EV-mode. I recently had a rental (MG PHEV) that I used only as hybrid, because it was delivered with "empty" battery and I had no easily-accessible charging point. However, with that "0%" battery shown by the dashboard throughout all my journeys, the car would (almost-)always use the electric (no ICE) in low-speed segments of my trips; even at 50-60 km/h it would sometimes run exclusively electric, unless I demanded more power. So I'd say the PHEV battery never goes down to the real 0%, unless something goes terrible-wrong with the management software.

Delivery times?
I'm also on the list of clients with VIN, but no other info. I received the VIN more than a month ago, and next week I'll celebrate 1 year since I placed the order. On the other hand, mine is not partially produced and waiting for parts, it's waiting complete production apparently.

Shouldn't they (dealership) take care of that during the "delivery preparation" process? Or is it the hardware-compatibility story again - 1896 not being out for all HW?

In the third picture it looks like you lost your head over this car!!! 🤣 You still had it in the first picture. And btw - matching colour t-shirt - nice touch!

Delivery times?
Do you have any idea if it is related to transport trucks&drivers not being available? I mean transport from the Curtici customs ( https://goo.gl/maps/bgNWGPvx3dEtHprY8 ) where the cars enter Romania to your dealer in Bucharest. I know similar stories from clients of Renault - the car was delivered to the hub (in Ciorogarla) and was sitting there for more than a month because the dealer didn't was to separately pay the transport for a single car... On the contrary - I heard there are no drivers to take our cars home (either their home or our home)... 🤣 Enjoy!!! Did you sleep last night??? 😉 Looking forward for pictures on the other topic. It's funny how those guys (Skoda HQ and Dealers) think and behave... I never had a build date, but I got the VIN about 1 month ago, and I was told it will soon go into production (whatever SOON means in Skoda world). Other customers reported here they have had a build week way before they had a VIN, so it's hard to say whether you'll get your car in November or not. Long story short, we suspect that not even Skoda knows exactly what's the procedure. BTW, what did you order? You might also want to add your details here to the "purgatory" list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17h4myLSMpZ3dohgDJX25mkOhKLbyepEaeEeYcA3AqFY/edit#gid=0

Delivery times?
Indeed, I know of such cases, but in general it was known by the Factory and by Dealer that they do not have all the pieces to complete the car, and that it will be parked until components arrive. Whether they told the Client or not, that's a different story... Did they tell you at that time that the car won't be completed? In my case, when I was given the VIN, the Dealer told me that the car will not be produced incomplete and go waiting for parts - apparently they can see that piece of info in the system. On the other hand they have no reason to lie to me, since they know very well I'm not at all pressed to get the new car. (except maybe for the childish unpatience to get a new toy, as @timster was saying...)

Delivery times?
I can't say "happy anniversary", 'cause I know the feeling - I'll also celebrate 1 year in 2 weeks from now. On the other hand, I did receive the VIN, and was told we're on the final stretch... whatever that means. BTW - it's been more than 3 weeks since I got the VIN, but I still can't register it in SkodaConnect App.

Such a coincidence!!! I have a 23/08/2021 order myself! When we both get our mk4's we should meet and compare the errors of the head-unit and the other electronic gizmos... 😅 Don't be so proud, this club is not at all exclusive! It seems that any humble Skoda-customer from any country has a fair chance to free-membership. (or should I say expensive-membership??? I'm a bit confused...)

Done! I added the date of your order from the top of my head... you mentioned above it was ordered End-of-August, so I assumed 30/08/2021. Also, you could try the link below and see if you can edit: (I think the link above was read-only...) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17h4myLSMpZ3dohgDJX25mkOhKLbyepEaeEeYcA3AqFY/edit#gid=0

Front door pocket size
No, use your imagination!!! The cabin storage in mk4 is so generous, that it's still possible to use a second 2-litre bottle for that... 🙈
-
Front door pocket size
Wow, there's really been several new topics for the least expected subjects over the past few days... (e.g. mud flaps, CarPlay not connecting, Skoda Connect login error, and now: door pocket size)... However, since you asked - have a look at minute 8:55 in this video: I never understood why would anyone keep a 2 liter bottle on the door, but can't argue with people's choices...

👏 that's exactly what I meant when I said "enjoying his car" I had to carefully search for it, so here it is (picture in the link):
