  1. Agree with what your saying, but I suppose the principle behind this technique is that everyone on the road is singing off the same hymm sheet...
  2. I've seen exactly this before on a white Subaru, took a while to realise that it WASN'T blue lights after all!! Very convincing cop car look from the front (or in the rear view mirror). I assume this isn't illegal in the slightest seeing as its foam protectors on a roof rach and not lights...albeit open to interpretation from other road users Next time I own a white car, this will be my first mod
  3. I was going to say someone on Briskoda is selling one: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/items-sale/pd160-air-intake-fabia/81411/ ....however it now appears to be sold! You can get them fairly cheap at any Seat dealer or possibly from scrap. The fitting guide is here, dead easy (includes Seat part nos): http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/pd160-intake-pipe-definitive-thread/57557/
  4. Welcome (...also from down the A9), didn't think there was such a thing as a well used TDI I'm sure it'll last you many many miles yet!
  5. What about SAWDUST...:sofahide: LOL  ....Is BillyGeorge still about? No in all serious I'd agree with whats already been said, make sure you've got fresh and decent quality oil in there first before considering additives.
  6. I find mines smokes a lot more with Tesco fuel, but hardly at all with Shell. Maybe try a different brand, ultimate shell diesel or BP diesel maybe? Also - don't think any injector cleaners are recommended with the furby vrs - apparently they may cause problems and possibly invalidate the warranty. If any of the cleaner are left in the fuel system, it could also possibly cause some smoking as it gets burned up. Other things that have caused it for me have already been mentioned - filthy air filter and accelerating in a high gear at low speed (not good for the car at all). Other than that, maybe its not as bad as you think, possibly a trick of light at night or in sunlight makes it look worse?
  7. If you don't want to confront them and / or their far away, why not just send them a letter? Just address it to the service manager, and ask for documentation or written confirmation of the lifetime warranty and what it covers (ie - parts / paintwork / labour etc). It would also be a good way to ask them what isn't covered. Let them know the MP3 player wasn't in the car when you received it, and you had expected would be sent out to you in due course. As its not arrived yet, ask if there has been any problem with the supply. If they have run out of them, I'd expect some sort of gift of equal value. The letter doesn't have to be confrontational or threatening, certainly not at this stage. You'll probably (hopefully) find they'll deal with it professionally and swiftly and sort everything out. Good Luck Ross M
  8. Its been almost a week since I uploaded the . Already, its had almost 100'000 views!!! Hope a good number of those who are Skoda owners seen the Briskoda mention and URL in the description The Daily Mail have even linked directly to it from their news pages, accounting for 7300 views alone! In the Autos and Vehicles category, It got #1 most viewed video for last week, currently at #16 for this month and is #98 in the most linked of all time table! The advert has drummed up an amazing amount of interest for Skoda, yet there wasn't even a single (real) car in the entire ad - well done to the development team!! Would be interesting to know how many people will now go away an investigate buying the car a bit further having seen the advert.
  9. First thing you need to do is take your sister in law out in it - then she too will be a Skoda convert!
  10. I know what you mean, it just looks a bit tacky and generic with a slightly embossed vRS logo. Something small but quality feeling in Green Red and Black would be nice. You can probably get a better unofficial one somewhere...ebay etc
  11. Hmmm...so its not just me then!! I had another one go flat after lightly rubbing it against a kerb....so put that down to being my own fault, wouldn't be suprised if it also had a bulge and went flat from that! thats about
  12. Direct link to the vRS keyring on the Skoda Merchandise site Nothing amazing from the picture, but does have an integrated light and removable key fobs....if that floats yer boat
  13. I've always liked the Goodyear Eagle F1s - very grippy in wet or dry. Can't comment on any others as I've always been very satisfied with the above. However that said, I've had two of these tyres end up with bulges out the sidewalls and another one disintegrate on the motorway 20 miles after fitting - still rate them highly though, the above may just be because I'm jinxed when it comes to tyres  Do a search on this and you'll find tons of threads and a few polls on favourite tyres
  14. There are a lot of drivers out there who turn off the gizmos as a first step before pulling away in the car...EPS, ASR ...and ABS if there was a switch that allowed it. They all act as a nice safety harness but I reckon its best to learn to drive the vehicle without gizmos. Thats why I went without the ESP option on the Fabia. I agree that if these things are available they should be standard on all cars rather than just for those who can afford it. At the same time, if I were faced with the choice again I wouldn't pay (much) extra for it. Heated seats on the other hand are an absolutley essential - especially if you live somewhere cold in winter :P
  15. I like it - some nice touches there! I'm not a fan of shiny chrome wheels or door handles, but I like the overall look. Some modified Fabias just look daft but this one is pretty tastfull. I like the 0Darth Vadar-ish look at the front
  16. If anyone aint seen it yet, its on YouTube here:
  17. The new Fabia UK 'full of lovely stuff' cake advert is now on Youtube here:
  18. Had these two issues as well - repaired under warranty just before 60'000 miles.
  19. Zero interest!!!?? Really? Blimey! I want to be selling my 04 plate in the next month - not too disimilar to yours but will probably be about
  20. Yeah, another classic Skoda ad Reminds me of Pimp My Snack
  21. Don't want to look like I'm defending the un-defendable, but think of it this way - Most ISPs wouldn't have the baws to email all their customers to tell them about a known problem when potentially the problem didn't even effect them. I think the fact PlusNet has done this sets them aside from other ISPs who would try and cover it up and pretend it never happened. I'm going to reserve judgement for now, and will be interested to see what (if any) recompense they give to the effected customers. That said - I agree they are going downhill and as for the new broadband packages they've released - not the way forward in my opinion!
  22. At first I really didn't like the shape much but its growing on me now. Got a chance to have a prod about and sit in one at the weekend. It did bring a bit of a smile to my face Its not a bad car, gives the appearance of being a bit smaller that the current Fabia which I wouldn't like tho. It definately does have mini and swift like features (which always isn't a bad thing). Personally I would only be interested in a vRS (or similar) model but the car as it is just now will have stay competitively priced if they want it to sell. Its nicer and a bit more modern than the MkI, but don't think its going to get the rave reviews the MkI Fabia got when it was first launched - it will probably attract inerest due to the original Fabia reputation though. I would recommend it to people (to test drive), but probably only as a ladies shopping car at the moment. The vRS would need to have some nice body enhancements.
  23. Welcome Thats some nice mods your investing in! Do you have a specific car in mind yet - you might find that a fair number already have some of them mods. Out of interest, what sort of price range would you expect to pay on a 2nd hand one and would you expect to pay more or less for one with some of the mods already done?
  24. My reckoning is they didn't make ESP standard on the Fabia vRS due them wanting it to be competitively priced, thus making it a lot more attractive to a wider audience. I think if its standard price was
