  1. Hope you pull it quick as I believe the diesels are going off sale.
  2. Ya I've seen that before and seen it on other cars I had in the past. It was nothing to worry about as long as the coolant temperature is reading normal
  3. Can I ask what have you used to wash the wheels? Was an acidic wheel cleaner used?
  4. I'm afraid I can't offer any help but it reminds me of the 1987 Circuit of Ireland rally and the Prodrive/Rothmans M3 rally cars. Both stopped within sight of each other with electrical/ECU issues mid stage. After some investigation, turns out there was a British army base nearby and something in the base fecked up the cars electronics.
  5. I also had this. I reported here before. The dealer kinda went "that's normal". Mine somehow fixed itself.......
  6. Na, I'm a scientist so hence it's hard for me to say "oh it's for XXXX" without being 100% sure and or being able to reference a trustworthy source. Politicians can't even reliably say what day of the week it is.... Edit. Note I said "I think" rather than "it is". I couldn't say that I think it's for holding the eggs while cooking on the engine while driving to Tesco....
  7. I never said I was definitive in that it was for crash protection. I seem to recall reading somewhere about new crash regulations and about pedestrian head protection needing under bonnet items. These are fairly new regulations applying to car designs released in the past few years. Personally I think the main reason for them is to reduce noise for drivers, especially from diesels.
  8. I am open to correction but I think the engine cover is for pedestrian safety. If you hit a pedestrian, their head tends to hit the bonnet and it's an attempt to lessen head injuries. If there's no cover, the head could strike the hard top of the engine after deforming the bonnet. This lessens the blow.
  9. It's probably phone related. I get directions from Google Maps directions on the virtual cockpit when using a Pixel 7 but not a Samsung A something or other. It's more than likely phone related
  10. I've a Garmin DC 46 and a short Amazon special for cable. I think it's no longer being made from looking at the Garmin website https://www.garmin.com/en-IE/p/661782
  11. For heavy start stop city traffic, I don't quite get 11L/100km but often get over 10L/100km when cold. Driving like a saint I've seen 6.3L/100km on main roads. I've often gotten 6.5L/100km on a long motorway journey. My current average is somewhere around 7.2L/100km.
  12. While not a VAG car, a work colleague got a lot of front collision warning and a few full on emergency stops in a Korean motor. After loads of fighting with the dealer, turns out there was a small hole in the back that allowed spiders to live in it, causing the issues.
  13. I had this and posted it here before. I was told "normal" by the dealer. Surprisingly, mine has gotten a lot better with a lot less condensation over the past year......
  14. I don't have it and to be honest I find the car reasonably comfortable on Irish roads. The car is softer than the previous motor, a Leon FR.
  15. I stand just off centre so that the kicking foot is dead centre.
  16. I found a quick "in and out" rather than "side to side" works a lot better. Even after 13 months, I still struggle to get the knack right but others at home have the knack from day one....
  17. I'm another that got the 1941 files here but never got around to doing the update. Then today, I got the OTA update notification. I assume it'll be "grand".....
  18. The VRS is the first auto I had. I also had loads of questions and the supplying dealer said "Don't think about it too much. Just keep it in D and keep the foot on the brake. The auto hold will take care of the rest."
  19. Sure if that's the worst that happens.....
  20. Can you check my maths as I make that 0.2% difference? (0.1÷45)x100 is 0.2%, I think.....
  21. Also, most refrigerant gases have a small bit of lubricant in them. Thats needed for the seals etc in the a/c pump. Otherwise, the seals dry and the gas leaks. I've family members who found out the hard way in a Ducato. When getting it regassed, they were told to leave it on to stop leaks. I'm another that has the a/c on permanently. I tried it with a/c off over 1000km and then a/c on for the same distance in a Leon and it made bugger all difference to the fuel economy
  22. I'm just over a year into a VRS TSi, Irish spec which is higher than standard UK spec (winter pack, 19" and DSG are the main differences from memory). Mechanically no issues. Software I get the odd reboot of the infotainment on startup. There's a few foibles that some put down to electronic glitches but are not really. On cold mornings, there will be odd front collision sensor errors but that's due to the sensor covered in condensation. I've gotten a few front parking sensor errors from cr@p being positioned just perfectly to block a sensor! Fuel consumption can be from 6.7L/100km for long runs to the worst of 15L/100km (semi spirited driving). Town is typically 10 to 11L/100km. It's very comfortable for long runs. I've had 5 hour drives and had no back ache. Overall I'd recommend one
  23. I've always gone for red cars. The Leon (last daily) was silver but I went back to red for the VRS. Personally, most greys look like primer and the factory forgot to paint the car.
  24. Isn't there the button by the interior rear view mirror to deactivate the automatic interior light? It looks like a door open symbol?
  25. This may be totally unrelated but since I upgraded from a pixel 4a to a pixel 7 phone, the reboots stopped. I'm still on 1898 as I never got around to updating as the reboots stopped
