My DAB issue was solved by removing the head unit and plugging in the Fakra cable that had somehow become dislodged.

Wouldn't be without a dashcam. I was the rear ender a number of years back and the footage proved it was a sub 5mph shunt and the ins co threw out the other party's 'personal injury' claim.

Almost a shame you don't live further south as you could've quite easily raided my tools instead of buying.

I've got Goodyear Vector 4seasons Gen 3 on my Superb and really rate them. Had Gen 2 on my previous car so all in have been running these tyres for approx 8 years now. I like them so much that I've also put them on the OH's & FiL's cars. Possible you just need to get a new sensor mount. Take the cover off and see if there's any movement in the sensor at all.

I have aliexpress specials too. Throttle pedal one fell off a few times due to the tight fitting but a decent bit of double sided tape has kept it in place the past 6 months.

There's a high likelihood that no damage has been inflicted as that's what happened to mine

Have you looked at the tyres yourself and measured the tread depth or is it a case of the garage trying to sell you new tyres?

If it starts fine when cold then it's not going to be the starter motor.

The issue in the OP sounds like something breaking down under heat. Possibly a camshaft sensor?
