  1. At last I have stopped passengers going on about not having a clock on display on the dash. This see through clock sticks via a sucker onto the window and the digital time can be seen with ease. From Hong Kong-seven day delivery and two purchased for a fiver, an absolute bargain http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110768555572
  2. Completed today, I've only had Yeti for just over a month but based ny comments also around my four year old Octavia, and as you can probably guess only good comments entered, as I assume the Yeti will perform just as reliable
  3. I am fairly sure there is nothing available with the new logo for the rear as the Yeti ones are so much bigger than anything else in the Skoda range. Unless someone knows better. My suggestion would be to look at the Super Skoda site they have some covers that just have the footprint logo on and are available in a few colours. They cover the green current badge and will match better with what you have replaced
  4. Mine was built week 46 2012 delivered 18th Dec.2012 so I assume it must be an update as I can't see it being a one off. It's certainly caused some interest. Perhaps the next collecter of a DSG model ought to start a new thread on what he/she got on collection.
  5. The clock is there for "her indoors" who complains that she cannot see the time on the radio like she can on our Octavia. It's self adhesive and keeps falling of the wood trim and usually ends up rolling about where you see it now. One of these days it will no doubt strangely fly out of the window and never be seen again.Going back to the DSG lettering, perhaps everyone should make their feeling to Skoda about its naff lettering and change it to a new style Skoda logo/ or just Yeti or even 7 Speed. Other than the lettering I like the feel of the glossy top and the forward facing activation button is very easy on the hand. Regarding the comment from Truthseeker, I can't see Skoda having two types of gear knob for DSG, I would imagine all new models will have the type as mine
  6. Yours looks very similar to the one fitted to my neighbours Golf, it is substancially larger in the palm. I think the new style fitted to my 1.2DSG is intended to be similar in the hand to a standard manual gear knob offering a sleeker style. I do agree the DSG lettering is a little over the top, no need for it, they should have put the Yeti logo in there. But I suppose all the shiny plastic on top saves wear on the top side leather.
  7. Photo's as requested, sorry about the quality camera phone in bad weather outside ]
  8. Had my DSG Yeti now just over a month and cannot find anything to persuade me it could be a mistake, it is absolutely fabulous and I would recommend it. Incidentally, I have noticed that the gear knob on my model is different to others seen on the forum, it has an almost invisible button to the front of the knob rather than at the side, I assume this is a recent change and seems in a better position as your forward fingers engage the button
  9. This is my Rosso car prior to delivery last month, I have not had a chance to take a decent photo since because of the filthy weather, but I will update when the sun comes out and a bucket of water has been thrown over
  10. Some dealers are better than others, when they asked what was my proposed yearly mileage on my new Yeti order, I stated around 8k per year mainly in town and they immediately said the diesel would not be a good proposition. I was about to order with an open mind on both and took their advise. I am so glad I did as the 1.2 DSG is a fabulous town car
  11. Mine was built week 46 and arrived in Grimsby two weeks later, dealer the following week and then three days to collection. Let's hope the proposed bad weather does not slow it all down for you in the transportation.Best of luck
  12. Still getting used to the new Yeti and it's quirks. One I have been suprised with was the sun roof screen closing itself after you have left the car. I have twice had the screen back whilst driving and left it in this state when garaged to find when I enter the Yeti the following day it has closed by itself, very clever. Are there any other self closing, resetting items I should look out for, except of course the auto lighting. These little things give you something to brag about with the I couldn't own a Skoda brigade which unfortunately is still around
  13. To finalise my input on this topic, from what I am reading it is more a matter of the tyre profile than the rim size that changes the ride. So are we saying if you put a higher profile tyre on a 17" rim this will soften the ride? If so does anyone know what is the size of the tyre required which will fit without fouling the bodywork. I apologise if this has been asked before, but I could not find it.
  14. This subject gets more and more interesting. My recently returned Toyota Prius with 15" wheels rode very poorly whilst another Prius on the fleet with 17" wheels smoothed out the bumps etc. much better. As I have mentioned previously the Prius virtually rattled every where which I personally put down to the smaller wheels. Now our Octavia on 17" does seem smoother than the Yeti ( hardly noticeable) I put this down to the longer wheel base, but has anyone actually tried the higher profile tyres that can comment factually of any real difference. And what about the 16" wheel owners, have they also driven both and hands on heart say there was an improvement?
  15. This is interesting as I suppose the 60R profile gives a more supple ride, but what are the disadvantages, would you get more roll on corners? inferior braking etc. and would it throw the speedo reading out? There must be a reason why Skoda fit the lower profiles on original build it cant just be for the sportier looks. and why do you need to inform your insurance, probably because it is classed as a modification
  16. I tried both and could not see any great advantage of a 4 x 4 as I do not off road and for the amount of bad weather we get here in East Yorkshire with no hills 4 x 4 did not seem appropriate. As for the other suggestions, I already have an Octavia, prefered the looks and feel of the Yeti to the Golf and appreciated the extra equipment for the price. Had an A3 in the past, not impressed and over priced. Also because I only manage about 7k miles per year mainly non motorway, I discounted the diesel engines due to the DPF problems. The 1.8 TSI petrol is too expensive to run four wheel drive or not. So I settled for the 1.2 TSI and the money I saved went towards the DSG box and panoramic sunroof. Yes there is a point to owning 2 wheel drive Yeti's, ask other drivers I sure they would agree
  17. Thanks chaps, this site is great, everyone gets so involved. I will watch the lights with interest. These cars are such value I cannot see why any one looks at other models, unless you are super rich
  18. Well after driving a couple of days, my initial comments are: It beats my company car Toyota Prius in every respect. The DSG box is a dream, much better than the Prius. The ride superb, much better than the 15 inch Prius wheels, I can't understand what all the fuss is about regarding the 17 inch Yeti wheels. So far no rattles or buzzing noises, again the Prius seems to excel in this department, believe me everything rattles. I will be glad to see the back of it when I retire in March. Comparing it to my Octavia, I would say the Yeti handles better and the engine is much quieter. The radio/telephone set up is great and worked first time via blue tooth, I was also impressed by the music 22GB on my phone coming through the speakers and controlled by the radio screen, brilliant !! In fairness to the Octavia I feel the leather in my L & K model is better quality as is the carpet and odd other items the Octavia L & K offers. I will be keeping this a while as the space of the estate model cannot be beaten One item on the Yeti I cannot understand when in auto light mode, why does one of either of the fog lights light up and not the other, I noticed this as I was about to put in the garage. Is something set up wrong? an answer would be appreciated. But overall the ligyt system is fantastic
