  1. The friction surface is a "be aware" but should be cleaned by a 1 mile urban drive with stops. The disc hub is purely cosmetic and they really do "all do that" rather than it being a line. Remember our wallets are not attached to the car in question from either side!
  2. @scurab as @PetrolDave and @Gaz say above. How long has the car been "sat" at the selling dealership, because this is more of an issue with cars that aren't being driven?
  3. Some minibuses but mostly hatchbacks and estates around here. Local laws require that N% of licenced taxis must be capable of accommodating wheelchair passengers.
  4. I've seen this twice "live" with my body and my wallet at a safe distance from the vehicle in question. "James Bond" smokescreens generated on both occasions, and oil consumption around one gallon per mile. (estimate)
  5. The turbocharger has eaten itself resulting in a runaway. If the engine has not overrevved itself to death you are d@mn*d lucky. As an intellectual thing do you have either or both of white smoke and a very low oil level? I think this will be "yes" to both.
  6. @SkodaManiaq IME a fluctuation like that (based on your OP) is caused by a bad sensor, but not detected by the EMS because it doesn't go out of limits. Software engineer speaking.
  7. @2cvhound Maybe? I used to work with a guy who "always had Citroens" until he discovered that the then new Xantia had very uncomfortable for him seats.I could drive one all day without a twinge of discomfort and then go out for dinner with friends. So my answer is that "it may be the car or may be you".
  8. To my understanding you also need to replace the "transmission" tunnel so it will accept a propeller shaft and rear floor from just ahead of the front mounds for the rear suspension on an FWD car. It really is easier to buy a car fitted with a Haldex system.
  9. @Badgeriferous - Clutch; I'd check the DMF when it's open, and make an informed decision on the replacement at that time.
  10. Not the foggiest, but you could try looking on the RossTech wiki.
  11. I wasn't aware that the Ford ASBO was an accomplished figure skater.
  12. The last time I saw an issue like this, the underlying problem was a worn out lower ball joint at the affected side.
  13. Get shareware VCDS first, because you'll need it to bleed the ABS control block properly.
  14. Clear now? It's not a broken wire, just the core, so you need to continuity test the wires, not just look at them.
  15. It's most likely a broken core in the driver's or passenger door wiring bellows. I guess you can cope with fault tracing if you have some idea where to look?
  16. The LED is for the door deadlocks, and nothing to do with the alarm system. As the car is 19 years old (based on your metadata, thanks) the alarm battery may well be dead.
  17. If you need to adjust the steering every 10 seconds on a straight road, there are "other issues" and you should give up driving for the benefit of the other 27 million of us!
  18. Never been in a Zoey, but I have been in my neighbour's Nissan Leave (sic), and hard pass on being in that for its 2 hour unrefuelled extra-urban range.
  19. This sounds like a known issue where the pinouts on a genuine VAG stereo are different to those on an aftermarket (eg Panasonic) system. I think you need an adapter plug, which should be available from stereo dealers, to correct the pinouts.
  20. Does it turn off on the key? If not, it's definitely wired up wrong.
  21. Or, in short, "no I haven't".
  22. I guess this means that you haven't figured out that a "national Id card" is Big Brother's wet dream to end all wet dreams, and offers no actual advantages to the man on the street? Or are you stupid enough to believe the Con Party's Big Lie about the frequency of Personation offences for example?
  23. I'm not, and don't see how this helps track the mileage of someone who is frequently a passenger in a third party vehicle anyway.
  24. Yes, drop the car in on my way to work, and collect on my way home.
  25. OK, it was badged (and styled) as an "Allroad" model, but it was also slammed right into the weeds. I only got a glance so no registration.
