If it' is an "S" or "N" it is by definition repairable only "A" and "B" are non-repairable. Youtubers can repair the car because they use the car as "Content" which pays them for repairing it. Some Cars probably yours included was repairable if someone could get hold of it cheap enough and still make a profit after costs. Not many challenge a write off figure for a month and get to keep the hire car. As soon as the offer is accepted the hire car ends. So saves the Insurance company a fortune. I can see mileage reporting on change of keeper becoming mandatory instead of optional. Maybe a self report of mileage covered for the first three years then it's taken care of by MOT. Any false reporting could then be retrospectively applied by AI. I think people are underestimating the power AI has when given access to data. I can only try and explain how it worked in my case. I retired in September. Always previously being paid through PAYE, I got a letter from HMRC stating that the state pension is not taxed at source and that amount i was to receive by end of next March added to what I had already earned meant that they did not have enough time, by reducing my tax code for my private pension to collect what i need to pay in full. By the end of the tax year based upon what they know my private pension is i will owe them £xxxx. So they have adjusted my tax code to collect the most they can of the shortfall by March and will do it again next year until clear. I hope this information is useful for when you do reach Retirement age when your state pension starts. If they continue as planned with the allowance frozen and state pension continues to be triple locked it will probably exceed the allowance by 2028 and pensioners on only the basic state pension will get a bill

For a higher rate taxpayer to pay £1,000 tax on interest on savings would require interest paid of £3,000 which is close to £70,000 in the bank. I still can't see how leaving the money in the bank and paying for something they could buy outright with a deposit then £100 a month saves a lot of money If the deposit was £3,000 and they took it from savings in that scenario they would save £52.80 in tax
