Skoda Fabia Mk3 Front Parking Sensor *retrofit*
Hello guys, realy nice project @singh946 , i am interested to fit something similar to my rapid. I also only have 3 rear sensors but I want to go a little further and put 12k unit in so I could also have 4 side sensor and redo rear to 4 like octavia/superb... could have. I have some questions related to your retrofit that could help me. 1. Did you try to connect 4 sensors on the rear, it could be that one of the errors on park/steer assist module that you had could be because of that 2.For the electronic parking brake do you think or maybe know if it would work if you had park module from octavia mk3 or maybe polo as those could have 8k oem and didn't have electronic park brake or if you could code it to normal handbreak in long coding as sometimes those things can be done on some moduls 3.Button for sensors is only connected to parking module or anywhere else? I ask that because 12k module also hase PLA option which I would try to make it work next and I need a button that could activate it so for that I would need a button from some other car because rapid couldn't have that if you have any answers to those questions it would help me. I was looking on wiring sets and think that if you connect everything it shouldn't be a problem as the system is compleat. Only logical problem could be in 5F as some units can't display those things or have limited what they can display. I fitted amundens unit from superb and know I have room for those thing with unit as my previous swing didn't have that much options. For example rear camera. I was looking to retrofit higline camera as rapid could only have lowline, it should work as only thing that uses and is connected to camera is 5F(and can network) and my unit support it(I talked to a guy that retrofits oem cameras on cars and he said it support it). Again thanks for any informations from anyone about this kind of retrofit.

Nav system not working, camera retrofit, front parking sensors
I have retrofited amundens in my skoda rapid. I have also installed new antena with gps. Nav system worked at first but not always, I couldn't set navigation and just not positioning where I really was. Then it stopped picking signal compleatly. I bought on aliexpress gps antena which should work as I saw a lot of people buy those antena for nav retrofits but still nothing, now even nav menu won't start and displays that it doesnt have media with maps. Annyone have similar experiences or know how to fix? I was also thinking to retrofit revers camera but i want to fit higline instead of lowline, as far as my reaserch goes it shuld work but i was thinking if anyone have octavia/super/kodiaq etc. with this camera if handle is same size as on rapid or other cars. This would made retrofit easyer and cheaper. Also didn't find no info on if you could opt revers camera with only rear sensors or you need to have front too. If I need to retrofit front sensors for camera do I also need parking sensor button that comes under climatronic or not. I know that I need this button for higline camera to power it on comand without putting it in reverse but don't know if I need it to put that for camera to work normaly or can I fit that later. I was thinking to go step further and install parking aid from octavia/superb so I could have 4 rear sensor insted of 3 and 4 in front with 4 side sensors. This should work as I have amundens unit 5q0 035 874 b wich could also be in those cars with that system and its able to display informations. I would be happy to see if any one have some more informations about those systems if it would work what do I need to be prepered for or if anyone have already done it. I was thinking to put this question on octavia/superb forum since they have this systems but I would start searching for answers hear : ) Thansk for any informations or help

RNS 315 to MIB2 STD PQ/Nav Retrofit – 2014 Rapid Spaceback
This is as much as i know. You would most likely need to replace gateway(not sure for pq retrofit but for mib toconversion its needed). You would also need quad lock adapter from RNS to PQ system or diy it your self. All MIB2 based units have CP that includes PQ units. Best option is to unlock it with dealer or someone with ODIS but there are some ways to "bypass" it but it will show error on diagnostic tools(unit still works). If you think USB and AUX under climatronic those have cables that go into unit on quadlock connector on MIB units USB connects to separate port and AUX on quadlock. Cables can be found so you can replace(note if you want to use apple car play you would need to replace USB port as iphones need special type for comunication, android should work with what you have). Functions just need to be coded on unit to your spec. For coding you would probably need to code some thing for your car for example what type of parking sensors you have(rear and front, just rear, none) all those basic coding can be done with VCDS or OBD11 no need for ODIS. Not sure on this one but if everything is normal it should work normaly. I have done upgrade in my car but from MIB2 Swing to MIB2 Amundens similar story but simplifyed because i didn't have to replace gateway. Hope it helps.

Early 2016 Rapid Smartlink issues
For Apple car play you would need better USB port you probably have standar one. Standard one is ok for andoid phones they work fine i retrofited similar unit and didn't change port. Down here you have three links one is from skoda parts site where you can see connector and part number of it this one support Iphone. Next two are links to yt videos where is explainde how to change it. One is fitting and one cooding. It's done on golf but same procedur on any VAG car. For cheaper replacment you can buy used one if you find it or new anywhere else this is just an example. Hope this help https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/5q0035726n-usb-connector-skoda-39614.html

Skoda Rapid Head Unit VIN change
As my knowledge goes CP is connected to VIN so that means if you have old cars VIN on it its most likely that CP is not removed properly. If you have OBD11 or VCDS scan car and check if you get error on gateway or 5F unit(multimedia)(probably on both) about CP. In that case CP is not removed or disabled properly and could leed in the problem of activating smartlink and some other functions. The picture that you post is unit swing from facelift model and not all of those support smartlink(i think that one on picture doesn't support it) if you have app button and phone I think it should with activating of MIB FEC/SWaP code(for codes that your multimedia support can be checked). If screen is same size and design like on the picture not with some plastic edge around it its facelift unit. I hope this help in any way.

Rear camera problems
I think that for rear camera you need module 76 and enable one thing there, what you enabled on 5F is just that button for camera that doesn't work in your case(as i know). Try with this link if it would help you, someone had similar problem just on VW which is same. https://forum.obdeleven.com/thread/2295/module-rear-ops

Rear camera problems
As far as i know you need modul 76 to activate it, this modul is for parking assist. I think you need to change setting in adaptation in case of higline camera(not sure tho). I would first check compatibility of camera for your MIB2 unit i know some units don't support camera but in codes you find some elements for enabling it(if it helps your unit is for PQ platform, it is a little different as MIB for MQB, and i think this model was for VW cars as i see red buttons, skoda had green but this shouldn't be problem). example my old unit had code in 5F to turn on camera but the unit it self didn't support it as my reaserch went(same for some other things like vrs boot screen just make system not working properly).

disconnecting parking sensors
Usually it is located in the boot under side trim. Don't know where they put it when it's installed by the dealer but OEM style they are back there on the left side. A tip, to get side trim down you would need to remove rear seats to get to all screws and clips. If you need anything else just ask.

Rapid Spaceback 1.5?
Device part number: 5Q0035874B is the unit in the glove box(I have the same unit now), screens part number is not shown here. If insted of B you had C you could have grid menu. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/468471-infotainment-retrofitting/ Here is a link where it explains those part numbers of units but long story short you have almost everything as C just not grid menu. However, there is a posibility to load the software of the C unit to your unit so you could have grid menu. But there is a cacht, it involves opening the unit and do some stuf. Not shure how but I have seen some one do it. I want to learn more about that(probably exploring more in the summer after exams) and if I found something I can contact you. I would probably write it in my project thread. The one thing that I need to do is getting rapid picture on the unit because I don't have it. As far as i know my unit came from superb and have some coded things that could't be in rapid. I still have some problems with it but slowly everything will be perfect :) I include link to my thred if you would be interested

Rapid Spaceback 1.5?
If you get the faclift headlight on prefacelift car I would be happy if you post it. I would like to do the same mod in future after other plans. For infotainment if you want the grid menu on amundsen you need to have the unit with leter c at the end. Those units have software with grid menu. I fited in my car amundsend unit (I had swing before) and would love grid menu which looks better but the one that i have got for good deal. I am doing a thread in project page and in a few days I would also add amundsen fiting proces in it if you would be interested.

Windows stopped working
Check fuses. If you changed motor and switch with working one it could be something like that. I have nearly identical problem with passenger rear but in my case switch light still works but switch don't. Also when I try to move it with driver switch whene presed to go down it make a sound as it would want to go but it doesn't. In my case all fuses are ok. For cheking fuses: fuse box is located under the steering wheel under plastic. If you have manual, look which fuse is for power window and the side you want, take it out and check(you have white plastic on fuse box cover, this is a tool or just use some pliers). If you don't have manual https://fuse-box.info/skoda/skoda-rapid-2016-2018-fuse-box-diagram#google_vignette here are all fuse boxes that were in rapid for left and right hand drive just look for correct version that you have i think all rapids after 5.2015 have version 2(not 100% sure).

Journey of Rapid Spaceback
Two years ago I became the owner of this Skoda Rapid Spaceback. When I got the car the first thing that my friend and I did, we bought the equipment for car detailing to clean our cars and potentioally start a buissness in car detailing. Here are some pictures before cleaning and after. Car looked like brand new especialy seats, there were no more spots of stains. At first i didn't think I would do any mods to the car, until one day my friend and I started to look at the ambient lighting kit for car. Soon we bought one and fitted in his VW Passat B6 Variant. This was the moment wen it all begins. We bought another one and fitted in my Rapid. We instaled symphony kit that is controled with app. For now only dash and foot lights are installed in the future, lights will also be in door cards, in handle and storage bin on doors but for that part i have some other planes which I will explain in detail later. For how lights are installed. In the dash there was just enough space to put the strips in and cut to the right lenght. Foot lights in front are installed on plastic trim and under the seats on metal frame which is placed so that you can't accidentaly knock it off. Power for the main unit is sourced form the light switch. Black wire is put in pin 6 and red on pin 10. Now unit for ambient lights gets power whene you put light switch in DRL position(first turn of switch). Some get power from 12V socket in center console but in Rapid case this is not ok because it has permanent power, that means even when the car is not running 12V socket still has power. Second option could be to get power from infotainment unit so that whene you use infotainment system lights are on, I didn't want to mess with that as i was still learning about those things and didn't want to go that way. Recently i got an idea to get power from the fuse box on pin which was ment for OEM footwell lights. This is the option that i would probably do it now if I was doing it again. Maybe I would still do it later but for that you need to check if your fuse box has pin ready for this, if not I saw someone do the pins for the glovebox for some other project(he occupied one of the pins with something and later fit the thing that was supposed to go there and relocated the part to separete pin just for that). As for the door lights, i have plans to change door cards to facelift version which has trim in the color of the dashboard. Power for the lights would come from the main power from the door(I would explain more in detail when this part of the project comes, still need to find cards in good condition that I could get and in color that I want). There are even more things than just lights that I want to do with the door cards but let that be a surprice for now. Another idea that came in my mind was contrast stitching. I want to do that on steering wheel but the stitch on it is to complicated to do it good so I would do one of two options: First: get cover in style I would like and stitching in the color I want(cheap) Second: get VRS steering wheel(expensive), which would even add sporty look and be the design I want(also would match theme of sport and elegance that I want to build) If I chose second option in design perspective would be the best but for my wallet it won't be, also I would look for vrs wheel with heating option for next retrofit(as far as I know Rapid couldn't have that but on Swing unit I found bit for turning on/off heating on it, just not sure if this was meant for Octavia or Superb as those could have it) But contrast stitch wasn't just for steering wheel... Shifter was the part to go and it tooks great the perfect touch would be VRS logo like in VRS cars but there wasn't five speed manual from MK3 Octavia or MK1 Kodiaq. I would like to do stitching on seats where there is a main white stitch but whene I tried on head rest it started to look like those christmas candy bars, didn't like that look but I have some other ideas. First: buy black or red marker for stiching and colour it (cheap) Second: I wouldn't mind geting heated seats so i could buy used seats with heating and probably re-upholster them the way I would like(expensive) After those two mods and cleaning one big project started to assemble. For months I have searched online for parts and everything I would need, until just a week ago the day came. I switched from Swing to Amundsen. This was a lot of work but the final result is worth it. For this I would like to put some more pictures and explain in more details what I used, how everything worked so I will explain everything in detail in next post(size of files is starting to come to the end).

Ash tray replacement
I hope this link works. It is direct link to the pdf file where are instructions on how to disassembel parts for interior and exterior. https://vwts.ru/skoda/rapid/skoda-rapid-body-work-eng.pdf On page 211 is the start for the center console.

Ash tray replacement
Is something of this that you are searching for. Ash tray in Skoda Rapids is just a cup that goes in drink holder

Glove box
In my rapid spaceback i'm upgrading radio unit from swing to amundsend. For this i need new glove box because the one that i have right now can not have unit integrated in it. I found new one but it doesn't come whit the mounting bracket for the unit. Does anyone know if this part has any part number or it's just if you are lucky to found it.

Antenna upgrade
Thank you for everyhing.

Antenna upgrade
Thank you for recomendation. What about if you plug LTE stick as i saw it exist, is that than the antenna that provide reception that is good enough.
-
Antenna upgrade
Thanks, that is very usefull information. Can you recomend some good examples of those antenna. Probably this would be realy be easyest and cheapest way of doing it. In my reaserch i also found that some models like octavia and superb have some LTE antenna. What is the use of them, as i saw this is used for those emergency and service buttons and to connect to the app, or am i wrong.

Antenna upgrade
Thanks for advise. Im not that wory about headlining, i have already remove them entire for re-upholstery in other car and know how to work around that. Great idea for cable routing. Water ingress can be the issue but for that i could do test before putting everything back together(i have also did that when changing roof rails on friends passat). Still i would need to ad GPS antena. Thanks for help and idea

Antenna upgrade
I bought new amundsend head unit for my skoda rapid. This unit now has support for DAB/navigation. My current antenna only has AM/FM support. I need to upgrade to better version to have everything that i need for new unit. I was looking to upgrade to a newer design of antenna(shark fin design) which wasn't available on rapid but i saw one guy do it(https://www.drive2.ru/l/589837136962798927/). The problem is that his unit didn't have DAB support and so does this antena. I searched online and found out that newer cars with this antenna design have DAB integrated in rear window and some filters for frequencies are needed. I'm not sure how i could recreate those antena lines, i didn't found nothing online on how this could be recreated. The easiest way for me(and probably cheapest) would be to buy new antena for rapid with everything on it for rapid which would look the same as right now except the base would be bigger(like this: https://www.drive2.ru/l/586126010341137837/). I would also need some cables to run new antena lines to radio but i don't know which cabels are needed. I could just buy one of those cheap DAB antennas that stick to front windows but i hate the looks of it(saw it in friends car that fited android radio and didn't like it). The possible mounting that i would use is on the rear quarter glass which wouldn't be noticable that much and integrate box behinde the plastic leaving only antenna and foil seen. For better looks i would do this on both sides and to improve the signal(those antenas are often very small compered to oem) but don't know if i can connect both. I would prefere new design but if there is no other options i would just go easier route. If anyone has a solution or advice on any of those questions it would be helpful.
