  1. No just not sure where the 1988 act really concerns those overseas, or even in parts of the UK. No idling offence if vehicle attended and De-frosting in cold weather. Not extreme cold weather, just ice on Glass.
  2. Just try into S so it is a a little higher RPM before it goes to 2nd then 3rd.
  3. Even the Government Departments do Press Releases that are a Wish more than a Promise. Daily the BBC say stuff about the Government which is really only about England & Wales and laws or regulations there. MOT,s are a England, Wales & Scotland thing, Northern Ireland has it's differences. First MOT at 4 years. Once the DfT / DVLA really have things sorted out & testing stations and examiners then great. I will have my 2nd hand EV MOT,d where i bought it and where it was MOT'd before i bought it. Also where they did servicing and part replacement. Not my usual place.
  4. What is it in the UK, less than half the passenger cars are privately owned. Business / Fleet owned vehicles, leased being the majority of New First Registered. The thing is after the Service / Fleet pan Servicing or End of lease, these are the UK,s 'Used' / 2nd hand vehicles. Those that then owners / Keepers might well do as they wish with.
  5. Rachel Reeves MP did appear surprised that Vehicles were due a MOT first at 3 years. Not long since the past Government was wanting MOT,s at 4 years. Strict Headlight Alignment Inspections annually would be 'Simply Clever'. Actually for EV,s the DVSA could have Mobile Units visiting EV Charging Hubs rather than going roadside Vehicle Checks halts. Actually send them around places doing Mileage Checks, Lights etc. Efter all there are so few EV,s in the UK supposedly. TAXI / Private Hire Vehicles checks at various Local Authorities are more regular than Annual, or first at 3 years. So plenty of those can have Mileage checks carried out.
  6. 'Specialised Inspections'. Interesting, Which MOT test stations have EV Specialist MOT Examiners ready to get rocking and rolling. Or is the Test Stations for BEV,s going to be limited to only those with all the Gear and Ideas. & Training. Different fee?
  7. @Graham Butcher Who is pedalling that 70% battery guff?
  8. Also Scotland, De-frosting exclusion.' Re Plug in hybrid, if unplugging and starting up engine the vehicle might well not be on a Public Highway. Just pointing out the obvious. '
  9. Only one to mention private ground , but because the OP is talking PHEV, also not in the UK. ,
  10. Plug in Hybrids might well be on Private Ground, so at home. The law on the Kings Highway is exactly that. The Offence of having cars sitting idling, engine running must allow exclusions for Blue Light Emergency services and others. Or Police Officers might well be booking them selves for the offence. PS, Parked Vehicle unattended. As for A! and its answers. Really a £20 penalty and going to £40. In 2026 in England / Wales or Northern Ireland or Scotland. ???? Bargain.
  11. @lol-lol If the Public EV charging prices really drop they need to drop lots. Even if the VAT goes from 20% to 5% on Public Charging that is not lots, that is very little, 'real world' out of peoples income that they have after tax. Home charging is lovely, very cheap electric for 6 or 7 hours, even giving you cheap electricity for Household, Garage, Swimming Pool, greenhouse, battery storage etc etc. The Social Divide. Have and have nots,. but haves might really be able to reduce their energy bill, and transportation bill.
  12. Try looking at these threads if not already done so.
  13. @dsgman Were you ever shown that communications from Skoda UK or CZ telling the dealership to use VW 504 00 rather than VW 508 00 Then change again? They are Approved even though it was VW / Skoda that went VW508 00 / 509 00 for WLTP certification and the RDE2. From the Owners manual.
  14. Lease a TESLA and maybe you get a NIP in the post and maybe not if the car is speeding and pictured doing so.
  15. Well the Blue Light Services vehicles got Uprated suspension by 'Eibach'. Skoda Approved. Fabia vRS got Dealer fit Eiback lowering springs as an option. Many many Modified 4x4,s and AWD,s are out as Rescue Vehicles now with Mountain Rescue, Cave Rescue, Coast Guard, Recovery vehicles etc etc. Farm & Quarry and all sorts of Commercial Use. Camper vans as well. There are many VW Commercials now camper vans that are lifted. If it worries you, just do not do it. If it worries others, so what. Get the vehicle properly converted, insured and if required SVA,d. As far as capable vehicles for going off road that are affordable,.they are few and far between, and not all even that reliable / suitable for easy of use and repair.
  16. @JediWorm Is it a 1.5 TSI Mild Hybrid (MHEV) DSG Octavia you looked at? What is getting done at your next service to get to 2,000 euro? Cam Belt and Water Pump, Brake parts etc etc?
  17. IMO Depreciation hardly relevant if you buy something as a keeper. Buy a used one that has had the depreciation so pretty much a bargain. Install an EV charger is Simply Clever if you are able to run the vehicle on cheap home charging at a tenth of the cost of public charging or buying petrol or diesel.
  18. I want a petrol automatic to see my driving days out as well as having an EV. No newer diesel so no AdBlue. A 1,600 cc turbo & 150 PS max will do & no smaller capacity engine with poor longevity like a VW 1.5 TSI ACT. Actually no electrification either so no MHEV or PHEV. 40 MPG as a minimum would be nice for longer runs. That will be as economic as any BEV that gets run using public charging. Annual running costs pretty much as running costs of the likes has been all the years i have been driving.
  19. The number of Diesel vehicles getting scrapped or on SORN in this past few years and the next 4 years will be interesting. UK wide not just for London. The Estimation of as many as 8,400 stations not selling diesel must be 100% of filling stations./ as in all of them. What total guff. Or is that Shell, BP, ESSO, ASDA, Tesco, Sainsburry. Gulf, Texaco, NISA, guff.
  20. For those away from home then 3.8 miles to the kWh is 38 miles for maybe £4.50 if 45 pence a kWh and anything going up to £8.90 for 38 miles or possible 40. Not great really. Not AWD . Plenty people would rather have some Land Rover vehicle even if only getting 35 miles for £6.50 a gallon. Carrying people and stuff in wintry conditions. Maybe filling stations in areas of plenty of filling stations and a population might not have Diesel Tanks and pumps, but i seriously doubt that happening in the next decade. Getting a few EV chargers in really does not mean removing pumps at many locations. Lots of filling stations have already used up land that has been non economic the way the have the property. Filling stations with chargers are not likely to be the good value / trarrif places to charge.
  21. We will see which 'filling stations' actually stop retailing Derv in the next 4 or more years. @lol-lol How much is the servicing of the Scenic & is the brake fluid sat 2 years and also the Pollen Filter? What was the Scenics efficiency as far as miles per kW? Just to get some idea what Public Charging at 70 pence a kWh public charging might have been.
  22. With a 12 year old Euro 5 TDI i would stick with 5w 30 FS III and not go to 0w 30 FS III
  23. The top link is the one i have linked for years. Simply clever'. It is the Manufacturer as in VW Group that causes confusion, especially among Dealership employees who's full or part time job involves working with VW Group vehicles or the customers / owners of them.
  24. @nta16 VW502 00 is not suitable for the 1.6 TDI CR, so it is VW504 00 / 507 00 (Long Life) for Fixed or Variable servicing with this car with a DPF.
  25. @Stonekeeper Yes i know. I also know that over the past 8 years has been fails and advisories and which have been there a few years back and not in the years in between.
