  1. Who is quoting you? What engine has the car? Can you check the Air Filter, the Pollen filter? What servicing history is there, Oil changed last, Spark Plugs or Fuel Filter if a TDI. Brake Fluid etc etc.?
  2. If a DQ250 6 speed wet clutch DSG there is a 40,000 mile service interval, oil & filter. Needs doing. ............. Leave it be is the DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG, which has 2 oils and no Service Regime, Guidelines, Schedule, etc. But some still get done after quite a few years miles.
  3. Was that oil change done where you are buying it. Was that when they got the car in from where ever. Hand back, trade in etc. Ask the Salesperson or the Dealer Principal. Sales Staff can be gone tomorrow, Dealer Principals less likely. PS. Car Reports are only as good as the Information put in. A Dealers car / Fleet car can be in an Accident / Damaged and no Insurance Claim, just Repaired In-House or Man / Woman in a van, forecourt Kerb side repairs.
  4. BEV,s are just the best for freezing / icy conditions. The correct tyres and the De-icing in minutes. No De-Icer or Pre-deicer required.
  5. @Aspman My error, i thought she was gathering up the cable and putting in the car to take with her. For home, just a wheeled tote box / karty does to coil the cable into. Keep the gloves in it as well.
  6. Who was it with VW Finance / Leased. Ask them selling it, they have to tell you what they know. & they will know. Law, sales. used vehicles, UK. Was it Owned by VW / Skoda or some Fleet / Lease company. As it is there are thousands out there just like that. So remainder of Warranty! Are you getting any extended warranty with it? Is it getting just an Oil Service now and a Pre Delivery Inspection for a used car?
  7. Possibly normal for a Car For Sale sitting doing not much, brake discs rusty , so a Demonstrator / Management car, ragged to death then left sitting. Maybe E10 95 ron sitting in the tank from before November. Ask the History, is it a Skoda / Dealers car., or is it a Rejected car back into the System? Be Sure to have the Sales Person show you the V5 and the First Registered Keeper. If in doubt have a witness and them put in writting their known history of the car. Any Warranty work so far, or Software Updates etc.
  8. £2,000 to change the Chain would be something, but since there is not a chain and tensioners where or who are quoting £2,000 for a Belt & Tensioner & no Water Pump replaced?
  9. It is correct that the warning Yellow Oil Can light or message will go out if the bonnet is opened and even no oil added, and will stay out for 62 miles / 100km. So you have a fault somewhere. As to your half up the cross hatch, how much oil was that you put in? Still too low really. When was it last at a good level, miles ago, or weeks?
  10. I will be getting one for me. Green not Orange.
  11. Maybe getting a Fiat Panda EV with its coil / spiral type cable that pulls out of the front of the car and goes back in. No idea if the coil cable will be like land line phones were and the coils go wonky.
  12. The Cam Belt recommendations on replacement are on Dust Rich or Not Dust Rich regions, not actually on climate / temperature, but then Dust Rich is more likely where it is hotter climates. PS. Something was not right in the first place that Replacement Clutch Packs were required. I think the Tech is at it as far as a common noise, if that is what they are saying.
  13. I expect there will be plenty orders going in for KIA EV,s and MINI Countryman EV,s this quarter from customers of Motability.
  14. Doomed, all doomed. Never going to catch on. They can just try to encourage more to buy or lease while also discouraging others. Lets see how 2026 goes with more choices and lower priced BEV,s and maybe more getting interested in them. & 3 year old Company cars & Motability ones needing replaced.
  15. @Carlston might be able to show where you might get rims, or Tyre / Rim sets.
  16. @BeeTee You are right, the manual now has that the Headlights can act as Position Lights / Sidelights.
  17. The UK MOT requires the Sidelights front and rear to operate without the headlights being on.
  18. Simples really. You do not use the left foot on the brake unless maybe like me and you have no right foot. 1 foot, 2 pedals. So foot from brake to accelerator, takes no time. While foot on brake the drive is disengaged. The car holds a couple of seconds, brake to accelerator, and then you still have a Parking / Hand brake. If you have Hillhold assist then read up on that, or watch a youtube video. Does your car have 'Coasting' mode which can be enabled? There are 2 oils to change if you really want that done. Best leave well alone if all is good with the DQ200 DSG.
  19. I have never seen a hatchback Mk2 with roof rails. Can you post a picture please? Just being nosy.
  20. I have had CrossClimate, CrossClimate +, SUV & 2,s Alpin 6 (Great) etc etc. OK, but last winter i used Maxxis AP3. Great in Snow and cold / wet. The CrossClime 3 are OK, just not anything special. If the weather was to be worse and i was travelling more i would be putting Snow Tyres on. For all year and south of Perth CrossClimate 3,s probably perfectly good but so are CrossClimate 2,s. . ATS Euromaster for the Pirelli. They are Self Sealers. & Michelin own ATS Euromaster. But the online prices can be cheaper than the Fitting Centre offers.
  21. I was a car sprayer, i had access to facilities, ramps & washers. My keepers were looked after. Silicone spray, wax / Waxoyl etc. Leased cars i could not care about. The body without damage is seldom the issue now. It is the little bolts / fitting of dissimilar metals manufacturers use. VW group famous for guff cheap parts... Poorly coated.
  22. Location location location. Where are you, and are your roads salted for many weeks over the winter? If the weather is staying cold with winter temps do not be spraying any more watter about underneath. Let the grime layer with salt in it having slush and ice fall off under the car. If the weather is warm enough then do rinse underneath. But not an power spraying or getting water into connectors. Not that there should be an issue. Old days i had Burst Oil painted under my cars. I no longer have cars that need that. A clean underneath in the spring will do. PS, for Skoda Corrosion Warranty which Skoda UK / VW UK often will say there is no Record of a Body Inspection, even though the T&C,s do not say required annually, bi-annually or periodic & they know Dealers do not all do them. BE SURE AT A SERVICE THEY DO THE BODY / UNDERBODY INSPECTION, and put on the system. It used to be on each Major Service Page of a Service Book. Their Service websites says Bodywork Inspection.
  23. Yes so the car giving the charge is not surprised!
  24. 4 necessary these days of e-Brakes and not only drive wheels locked possibly all, But just the say it is such with an ICE and a hand brake if you can nit get in the car. BEV,s that are bricked or PHEV,s might be front and rear wheels locked. So skates are just Simply Clever.
  25. Ye proper Jump Cables. Not what many might have from a Super market or even Halfords that cost around a tenner maybe even less even years ago.
