  1. Be Sure the full safety checks are done, and the body inspection and put on the system. That could be while their Workshop does the Service due very soon. Get the copy....
  2. They are chancers or the sales person / manager is. I would tell them to think on... Servicing due maybe within 500 miles, 3 weeks. Is it not a Skoda Approved used car? All the Skoda leave the factory on Variable / Flexible servicing. So that is not unusual. Some get changed to Fixed at the PDI. ?When was this cars PDI done. Maybe a week or 3 pre First Registration.
  3. Good, because if the Dealership do not want to get a Courtesy car dropped off again, or Skoda UK, Motability Customer Services can have them do so. Or arrange a hire car and the Dealership / Skoda can come get your car until fit for purpose. You are paying enough to Motability and you are in a very good position not to be messed about.
  4. An Oil and filter change now would be simply clever. It is due an Oil & Filter service pretty much now if on Variable servicing and not done already. It is due an Oil & inspection Service in February. You can have set on to Fixed Servicing 9,400 miles / 372 days or have on Variable / Flexible 18,000 - 20,000 / 24 months depending on how many miles / use suits you. But for the Manufacturers Warranty a service / oil change is required. Is it not a Skoda / VW Group dealership selling you the car? So requires the Oil & Filter, Pollen Filter, Brake Fluid if following the Manufacturers Service Schedule, Guidelines / Advice. Body inspection for the Warranty should be done by Main Dealers but might well not get done. Even though they charge a Premium and Skoda list it in their websites. Not required as per Warranty T &C,s but yet Skoda UK / VW will point out no record of being done.
  5. I should have got the Pirelli, there was nothing much difference price wise & the Pirelli are Self Seal and i am not carrying a spare in the EV. The CrossClimate 3,s are just so so on Snow. OK in wet and cold and dry.
  6. PS. it is the Cabin / Pollen filter that has a 2 year recommendation, regime or schedule for changing. The AIR FILTER according to Skoda UK is at 60,000 mile / 6 years. It should be checked annually or at services and no way left unl-ooked at for 6 years.
  7. Yes now the Brake Fluid change as per VW /Skoda schedule is @ 2 years and each 2 years, no longer first at 3 years. Many many Skoda Approved Used cars with a FMDSH might to have it done to that Schedule / Regime. Motability vehicles will have had it done though. Good the All Seasons are fitted.
  8. @dsgman Good that some Police Force's vehicles are serviced and the 'Brake' fluid checked or changed. There are forces ion the UK and certainly regions of Scotland with Police Scotland vehicles where servicing is terrible, and vehicles not even MOT,d. But the MOT thing can be true anyplace in the UK with Police vehicles.
  9. Next time you check the Brake Fluid for H20 ain the reservoir, also then check the brake fluid you let out at the calipers if bleeding and see if there is the same content. PS Water in brake fluid, maybe never noticed, but driving spirited, sporting, lots of heat in the brake system then that water boils. Sooner than usual even not if ever on a track the XDS / XDS+ will disable its self. Also brake fade. And there is corrosion in brake pipes and calipers.
  10. Could it be an Ex Motability car & was the MOT maybe done a month or more before it was 3 years old. & a service before 3 years old and the hand back? Bought at Auction and unsold since. What is the Service History. Has it had the Spark plugs changed already, or is that going to be required now. Has the Brake Fluid been changed at 2 years or @ 3 years?
  11. That is what you get with rubbish training of Service Staff at Main Dealerships. On job training from somebody who knows little about cars or servicing and maintenance. I do not change fluid on new cars i have no longer than a few years but with an old / used cars when upgrading brakes the fluid is changed. I have had 15 Motability cars, all got the brake fluid changed before 3 years old and the MOT, before hand back. Part of the Servicing. The last 3 EV,s i have had have had the Brake fluid changed @ 2 years old. Skoda had a chart like this 2018-2021. Not accurate, but gives an idea...
  12. Good, but did you not ask for their recommendation. It is their full time job. A garage applies a mark up on what they get in from the Factors. Well some might, where you use might. They know what they use or they use for customers or their own cars. Worth asking professionals IMO. PS. Last Friday i had 2 coil springs and a drop link fitted and paid the invoice price parts and VAT & the Labour charge. No mark up on the parts.
  13. Nothing new about Manufacturers recommendations about Brake Fluid Changes. As for VW / Skoda it was First @ 2 years then each 2 up to about 2011, then changed to first @ 3 years then each 2. Then about 3 years ago they changed it back to firsat at 2 years then each 2. Really something of a little earner for Main Dealerships. But it is their recommendation, guidelines, schedule, advice.......
  14. @JohnMack Did you turn around and go back to have that rectified?
  15. Very busy so best get booked in. This is what happens when you have people with a good reputation which is well earned and have lots of return customers.
  16. http://autohausedinburgh.co.uk Properly trained / qualified and all the gear and more than ideas.
  17. The Service Desk person or the Service Manager needs to go speak with the Master Tech or ask them to come talk to you. Maybe go out driving with you. No point the desk jockeys with no Mechanical Engineering training spouting whatever.
  18. If in Australia then ask VW / Skoda Australia why no TPI on the Known issue if it is a known issue. or Skoda CZ. If in the UK then it is Skoda / VW UK the Importer and who covers the Manufacturers warranty. Main Dealers are not just the Manufacturers agent they are the Customers / owners.
  19. Welcome. that would be TSI or TDI. & if a DQ250 6 speed wet clutch DSG then the DSG service of an oil and filter is @ 40,000 miles. (7 speed wet is a DQ381 with a 80,000 mile service but best do sooner from 2017 on.)
  20. @superbmidge Was that a Skoda main dealer technician that suggested new discs and pads were needed. Are you sourcing parts for some Independent to fit, or for you to? Have you actually looked at and checked the discs and pads? Are these the first time they are being replaced?
  21. I would like one in the Pea green, to tow a pea green boat.
  22. Pretty sure even the most useless Sale person or Parts / Service desk staff at any dealership will open the key for you. Just like opening an Oyster really, Just do not slice anything including fingers.
  23. Yes Parking Brake on is required to not cause failure with the Pawl in the DSG when in Park. But that has never stopped people from then releasing the parking brake and chocking the wheels. Or better still chocking then Parking Brake off. / e-Brake.. Well in the maybe not so cold Scotland but damp and freezing and because of this something not uncommon to do.
  24. @Joel- Does your car have a 'Hand Brake' /Manual Parking brake' & not an e-Brake /finger brake / Parking Brake? Plenty with a DSG will use P, and then maybe leave the car with the e-Brake / Parking brake off, and chock wheels. As some will do with a Manual with a Hand Brake. Back to the futures and as we were doing for decades now. because pads and discs or Shoes & Discs can freeze together.
