  1. Not much engine braking is there even with a 1.5 TSI ACT when not in 'Coasting mode'. PS Which VW Transporter engines, diesels. and which gearbox and years were these having failures. Which engine did they have that was unique to them and not in other VW Group vehicles.
  2. Expected Real World Oil consumption is not 0.5 litres 1,000 km / 621 miles. VW Group have said for 2 decades 'May use as much as' according to conditions, and for every engine 3,4,5,6, 8, 12 cylinder petrol or diesel. This is not the 'within tolerances, it is just them covering there back end. Running solo, not in extreme weathers and not towing. 0.5 litres in 1,000 km is too much oil used.
  3. Was it the coolant that was warm in 5 minutes. Was it near 90*oC or indicating that? The oil was not even at 50*oC was it after 5 minutes idling?
  4. Stopping / Starting as well as 'Coasting' has been part of the scheme of things with VW group for a long time now and it was used with Bentley's way back then Audi & VW,s then Seat & Skoda. The starter system is designed for this. It is not just some after thought. Plenty stuff VW Group do get wrong that will shorten a vehicles life, this is really not one of them. Tap the brake, or touch the accelerator a bit or manually drop a gear. It is a Semi-Automated gearbox..
  5. How is the Oil consumption test being done? Is it, New oil & filter in engine. Then drained & weighed. 856 grams a Litre. Oil back into engine and the miles driven then the oil dropped and weighed. Did they seal the dip stick tube and the oil filler cap?
  6. I doubt that a 2.0 TSI with whatever gearbox is not capable of towing a not very heavy trailer when all is well with them. I assume the TT Engine and box fitted was a used one, and it,s mileage matters more than the Octavia getting it fitted what it had done 60,000 miles. It will be a gearbox issue.
  7. So the Octavia has the allowable / relevant weights for towing on the car, regardless of the engine swap.If stopped towing by the DVSA / Police then they are looking at the plate.Unlikely they are looking at the engine and swap. & as it is the cars weight and b
  8. The towing capacity of the TT was nothing to do with the engines BHP / Torque, it was just because AUDI never gave it Towing Capacities just as Skoda did not with Mk2 Fabia vRS Hatches or Estates with 180 ps & 250 Nm torque. But they gave the Polo, Ibiza & A1,s with the same drive trains the braked and unbraked figures allowing the fitting of a towbar for towing. Much the same with some Skoda Kodiaq 7 seater manuals, no plating allowing towing.
  9. Just more guessing and speculating on what might be in the budget, but as far as Porsche and others they might well know what you are doing with your or their cars. (if Media / courtesy / demonstrator cars) But they did the same with ICE vehicles.
  10. Get read for fault codes as above. Very common for the EPC or the Engine light is a Misfire. When were the spark plugs changed and at how many miles and how many is it at now?
  11. EDIT, sorry i see probe used. It is the temperature in the car that matters, so use a thermometer and see what it is actually at. At the centre of car, not at the vents. Set to 18 *oC and see if it gets there. Set at 25*oC and see if that is ever reached. Getting the interior when the ambient air (outside) & the inside is 4*oC and up to 25*oC does need quite a bit of heat being generated. PS What actual heat do you want inside the car? @ 20*oC i would be down to vest and pants. (-4*oC this morning in an EV. 25 *oC to deice and clear inside took about 3 minutes. just one of the bonuses of them.)
  12. In S when sitting in gear the RPM is higher than when sitting in D with the DQ200 DSG. & It is going to a higher RPM before shifting up. Try it held on the Parking / Handbrake not the foot brake when in S and then accelerate. See how it performs. The DSG might have what in the Fabia Mk3 section is in a thread titled ' The story of the Famous DQ200 Clutch Slip.
  13. @thamestrader Is it Shell V-Power 99 ron Superunleaded which is E5 you use or Shell Unleaded E10 (95 ron) ?
  14. Engine oil is a coolant, and the coolant is to bring the oil temperature down to nearer than that 10*oC or more difference. Is the Anti Freeze / Summer coolant / rust inhibitor AKA the coolant at the correct ratio / strength for your use / ambient temps? There is a reason some use Radiator Blinds / Screens in cold weather conditions. To speed up the heating of the coolant / engine / engine oil & to keep an efficient oil temperature.
  15. Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedures / WLTP is really not Real World or World Wide Testing, it is often the figure that is the battery capacity and times the max miles it might go per kWh. 4 miles is one thing, 5 miles often a wish and a dream, and where a 29 kWh gross 27.5 kWh usable times 6 is taking the p!th. eg Renault Twingo EV 163 miles WLTP. RDE2 = Real Driving Emissions Step 2. ICE vehicles. Can also be kidology / fiction.
  16. VW Group Customer Services can be appalling, but that is lots to do with the Contractor they employ. Then the Executive Team @ Skoda UK are pretty damn poor. If you ever get to a Resolution Manager / Senior Team member. They must unplug their brain & sign out their computer weekly and every issue seems to be unique to them. They are 3 monkeys, or TOMMY. Deaf dumb & selectively blind.
  17. The issue is getting someone that knows their Ar$3 from their elbow, and know what they are doing with a pretty simple job that many mess up. The Oil in the gearbox i understand doing at higher miles, but not in the MCU @ only something like 40,000 miles. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/532929-super717
  18. Hopefully the ADAC cleaned up their act and are no longer Little Liars when it comes to VW products. 9% loss of a battery capacity is more than only 8 miles, even if a 100 kW Battery.
  19. There are posts on here from members or a member saying he had advice from Skoda UK, and it was then posted as from a Dealership. Then when they tried getting a Main Dealer to service the DQ200 DSG on their 1.5 TSI ACT they could not get one to do it. But plenty Automatic Gearbox Specialists around that will service a DQ200. Nit that the MCU oil needs changing at 40,000 miles. Unless you want to have done obviously..
  20. @coolman2 Are you in the UK and what sort of ambient temp was there. I would try a charger that is 50 kW max and see what it ramps up to as a max & how long it keeps charging at a higher kW. How long did it take you to get a charge with 40 kW max & how long did it keep at that? I would talk to the Master Tech and ask if there is any information on Skoda reducing Max Charging speeds for any reason. Worth having the Dealership put the car on their Rapid DC charger if they have one to see what is what.
  21. ^^^. Interesting on the failure you had.
  22. @yan101 Where did you read of a revised suggestion of the MCU oil changed at 40,000 miles? Could you maybe put up a link? VW Group have had over 16 years to give any Service Schedule for the MCU oil or the Oil in the box of a DQ200 DSG. There gets to be a build up of stoor in beside the dry clutches.
  23. Software /Hardware not in anyway an issue. eg Black Boxes fitted for Insurance discounts, car trackers as used for Security and Hire, Loan, Company cars and Dealership / Manufacturers Courtesy cars and demonstrators. Now the 4 countries of the UK and Law & Legislation for something compulsory is a different matter. Data / Information Security and a Provider / Contractor. Maybe they could get FUJITSU or maybe Huawei to be responsible for the administration and security...
  24. Motability informed me that their MINI Electric leased to me was part of the trial they were doing with the RAC where over the air they could report issues with the car and alert me. There were issues, but the silence from them was deafening. I was told nothing. They will have known the cars mileage and much else. Well if the system was working...
