1. For anyone looking for this part number for the revised sensor it is 076 906 051A Exhaust Temp Sensor Should the part number of the origional sensor 03G906051A be entered by the parts dept. into the computer, this will be automatically superceeded by the newer revised part number. Skoda Ireland have been very good and said that they will replace the sensor & software update FOC due to the fact that there is a Safety Bulletin on this issue. When this is completed I'm cutting out the DPF and replacing it with a straight through pipr that will accomodate the sensors. I don't have time at the minute so i'm going to get it fixed . I'll have it in such a way as i will be able to switch back to the OEM if needed with the use of a coller
2. What about the clear "C" part of the rear cluster and the Fog-lights, Would probably have to do the rear lights from the inside ! Not too sure on how easy it would be, BUT if there are lads here splitting headlights to spray the inside of them, then sure anything is possible !!! Tom:thumbup:
3. As Joe from Chipped Ireland put it to me yesterday """"Cut the bitch out, and if you have any problems with lights or sensors, i won't be long knocking them off for you"""" http://www.chippedire.com/
4. No problem at the minute Carl She's in Limp Mode due to the DPF. Serviced her about a month ago and i have a sneaky suspicion that the oil may be the cause although it does say 507.00 long life for soot filters, i have my doubts. I always drive her @ 2K revs on cruise which should kick in the Regen if it ever needed it. I'm stumpped at the minute and depending on the price of the new Temp sensor will be seriously considering a DPF delete on the car !! Back To Topic. :P Might buy the Film anyway and just do the Fogs. I can toy with the idea of the Headlamps in my own time. Do you know anyone with this done in the Blue Film ?? Thanks Carl Tom:thumbup:
5. Straight through pipe shouldn't be a problem with hall the sensors attached Great news! Removed the DPF on leon fr - SEAT Cupra.net - SEAT Forum See attached above for a DPF removal on a Cupra Fr TDI
6. Morning All. The Octy gave it's first bit of bother on me ever last sunday ! DPF light illuminated on the dash telling me to do a Regen. Did the regen @ 2100 RPM in 4th with it held on Cruise and was about 15 mins in when the Glow Plugs started flashing . This was closely followed by the Engine Management light and a message saying to visit workshop , and then the worst of al....... Limp Mode :thumbdwn: Anyway a quick phonce call revealed that it's an Exhaust Temp Sensor thats packed up on me and that no amount of regens will work !! Apparantly this has to be replaced by a Newer Revised Temp Sensor From what i was told it can be replaced easily and accessed from the engine bay just at the manifold. Could anyone supply me with a Part Number Please for this NEWER revised version of the sensor. By the way i'd say i'll still have to get a few light knocked of with Vag-com. Depending on the price of this Sensor i may consider a total DPF delete on the car. I'l manufacture a replacement pipe that will hold all the sensors in place but i'l just bypass them on Vag-Com. I beleive there to be about 5 or so. Has anyone done this on their Pd 170 ? I would like to hear. 2006 BMN 2.0 TDI Many Thanks For Viewing Tom:) If anyone can help and they require my chassis number, would they mind sending a quick PM .. Thanks
7. Very Interesting . . Optic Blue On A Race Blue Octy !!!
8. Remove the lower bumper grille trims adjacent to each Fog Light. This will give you ample room to put your hand in and reach the rear cover of the Fog -Light. One thing that would be tricky would be to carefully disconnect / reconnect the Earthing Wire as it is Part of the Rear Cover . Simples Tom
9. So i got my Drivers Fog-Light smashed by a stone a few weeks back. I rang around and was quoted astronomical prices from various places for a Valeo replacement. Then a kind parts man {Kev} supplied one for me at the right money {Much Appreciated} Wasn't going to bother fixing it but the light in the dash and the annoying message on maxidot : Attention, Front Drivers Fog-Light Defective was annoying me So yesterday i decided to change it . Had it looking like this :rotz: I HATE VW SPLIT RIVITS THEY ARE FECKERS TO REMOVE So i replaced them all [7 in total] with Ford Focus ones that have a Posidrive Head :P If I Ever Catch That Stone !!! Finished .... Just In Time For Pints !! Moral Of The Story Boys & Girls . . Turn off the light in the dash with Vag-Com .. It's easier
10. Took mine off variable as i don't like the idea of it. But i still use the long life oil as per instructions Service every 8 - 10 K By the way, anyone notice how much of a pain in the backside it is to remove the lid for the oil filter ... nothing but cursing from me the last time !!

13. So there is no need to remove the headlights ? ? Cheers Mate
14. All my cars including current Mk4 Golf, Toledo, Octavia, had difficulty engaging reverse gear sometimes. I just put it into 1st and roll foward an inch or so and then retry .... Bingo !! Would this have been a similar issue to that of your wife's car, where she would engage 2nd and roll forward and then engage 1st ?
15. Drivers fog light was smashed by a Stone on Friday/Saturday Sunday morning i went to remove the broken unit. Had to remove the Headlight to get at two vertical screws . The Fog trim & Bottom Left Grille Trim After a lot of cursing , i finally had the Fog light loosened but i couldn't take it out, as there was no room for it to go anywhere. Contemplated unfastening the horn but , this still wouldn't be enough. Am i right in thinking i have to remove the Front bloody bumper to replace a fog light !!! If so, Can someone PLEASE direct me towards a proper method to removing the front bumper !!! I will be buying a new unit and i might as well get a fist full of those clips that will enevitably break or disfigure when removing !! Much appreciated Tom
16. Isn't 38-40 mpg a bit on the low side anyway ? My girl does 48-52 mpg Average trip is 30 miles Mpg starts off around 38 and quickly builds up. Never drive her above 2K revs until shes warmed up. Would the addition of a chip increase this Mpg further as they should spread the distribution of power over a wider band ?
17. Use a rougher grade to gegin to break the surafce of the chrome. Once done, begin to use your increasingly finer grades. (Two will do grand) and when finished clean with a cloth damped with white spirits to remove dust. then spray two light coats of plastic primer. Then two coats of paint. Your first coat of plastic primer may show up some descrepences to that would be the best time to sand them down using a your fine grade paper. HTH Tom
18. Evening All, I've been trying to research whether anyone has done a catch can mod on their PD 170. The nearest i've found is on an Altea Oil Catch Can fitted - SEAT Cupra.net - SEAT Forum I've been out inspecting the set-up on the octy. I removed the recirculatory pipe that runs from the top of the rocker cover, to the air intake pipe just before the Turbo. I looked to see whether there was any residue of oil, and it was full of it ! This oil is being forced into the cylinder and burnt during the combustion cycle... Is it any wonder that they need a Particulate Filter !!! Anyway. I'm itching to know has anyone done this mod on their PD 170. Or could anyone in the know advise as to whether or not there needs to be a vacuum created by the turbo to suck the vapours / gas from the rocker cover. Could i just place a catch can inbetween the outlet of the rocker cover and the inlet of the air intake. Or maybe i could do some VTA (Vent To Atmosphere) that has been done on the older PD's (110,130 ) Please see attached photo's below of the pipe in question. Hope to get a good disussion going here about the topic. Thanks Tom Pipe Assembly Pipe Removed From Air Intake. Oil slick Found To Be Entering The Intake
19. I've asked this question an numerous occasions when reading other threads, but to no avail, I would certainly be interested in doing this mod.
