Catalyst failures are quite common on the 1.2, £300 to replace is massively excessive. Skoda advise NEVER using fuel additives in the owners manual and also on most engine courses techs are told in no uncertain terms not to use any additives.

Sounds as if they may have put too much gas in ?? as if you had a leak that severe you would hear it hissing out

No its massive boost/torque spikes in questionable maps that kills clutches, or re-mapping a car with a well worn clutch

Its usually a comms error, your software or cable will be the cause

This engine suffered with valve problems, the cure was a new cylinder head, get the compressions checked before paying for all those bits
