First service (and potential upselling?)
Forget the fuel treatment. That's just upselling. I had my brake fluid changed at 3 years by my local independent garage. It did make a difference to the car's braking efficiency but I would stay well clear of a Skoda dealership for this.

Fuel Injector problem
I think the recall happened late 2020 or early 2021. There is an internet site which lists all recalls but I don't know what it is called. Someone on here might know though. I was a bit surprised why Skoda decided to change the injectors as my car was working fine. It has been fine since as well.

Fuel Injector problem
If you have the 1 litre engine, your car will be petrol and not diesel. I have a 68 plate Octavia with this engine and the fuel injectors were replaced by my local Skoda dealer due to a recall. Whatever the problem was, it may be the cause of your fault. I didn't have any injector problems with my car before or after the recall though.

1.2 TSI CYVB Air Filter - Just Why ?
Fully agree. What a bad piece of design by VW. They should have made it easy to replace the filter element by simply removing a few screws from the top of the filter housing. Maybe VW have some sort of cruel thing for making people scrape their knuckles unnecessarily. Or maybe they thought that people would break those plastic clips on the top of the housing and would have to buy a new one, no doubt at a huge cost.

What does this do?
The cruise control and speed limiter control were on the same stalk on my 2015 Fabia SEL. I agree it looks like a speed limiter control but why it is on a separate stalk I don't know.

Problem with Key Fob
Thanks for the advice. I think I have just managed to sort the problem out. It seems I had a bad connection within the fob itself despite me checking this first but it doesn't explain why the fob worked initially then died. Anyway, the day to day key seems to be working now which is a relief.

Problem with Key Fob
I got the usual message to change my key fob battery earlier today which I did. I followed the procedure in the manual including holding one of the key buttons for 5 seconds. After I changed the battery, I pressed one of the buttons on the fob which seemed to work (the rear lights flashed) but nothing would work after that. I tried re-syncing the key as described in the manual but no luck. The red light on the key fob doesn't come on at all. I tried yet another battery but still the same problem. I therefore took what I know is a good battery out of my spare key and put it in my day to day key but again the same problem - the key doesn't work and the red indicator light is dead. I therefore put the good battery back into my spare key which seems to work fine. I'm stumped at what to do next apart from buying more new batteries. Any words of wisdom out there on what to do? Many thanks.

Scala SE 1.5 engine. Manual box.
Playing silly buggers gets my vote. Why not wait until January to register the car so you have a 2023 registration?

Mud flaps ( essential or not necessary?)
I have always fitted front and rear mudflaps to my Fabias. I bought them from a Skoda main dealer and fitted them myself. Skoda will charge a fortune for what is an easy DIY job.

Fabia rear seat drop
I used to have a Mk3 Fabia. Previous to that I had 3 MK2s. The rear seats in the MK2s did have a base that lifted and folded forwards so that the seat back could fold down fully. Sadly this was dropped when the MK3 hatchback was introduced but was kept in the MK3 estates. Quite why I don't know as I always found this a useful feature.

1.2 TSI running rough after cambelt change
Looks like it has 4 cylinders to me (I can see 4 connections to coil packs). But the engine doesn't look anything like the 1.2 TSI I had a few years ago.

Water Pump on 1.0 litre engine
Skoda dealer is saying replace the belt at 5 years (will have about 25,000 miles on by then. So am I right in saying that the water pump doesn't need to be changed at the same time as it is on the other side of the 1.0TSI petrol engine than the cam belt?

Water Pump on 1.0 litre engine
Can't find anything covering this. When I have the cam belt changed on a 1.0 litre 3 cylinder engine, should I get the water pump changed at the same time? I'm not sure which side of the engine the water pump is fitted. Many thanks.

Air con service vs regas
If your air conditioning is working OK, just leave it alone. Skoda will try and sell you things you don't really need and usually at a hugely inflated price.

Finance - 2nd year warranty. Want to buy in cash
I have bought a Fabia mk3 and an Octavia mk3 and taken out the finance package which, on both occasions, came with the next 2 services at no cost. I don't do finance so simply paid it off within a few days of collecting both cars. I paid maybe a couple of pounds in interest but kept the 2 services. A stupid way of doing business in my view but I had to protect my interests.

Clock keeps resetting to 12
The clock and trip meter on my 2018 Octavia reset themselves a couple of years ago. My dealer reloaded the software under warranty and it was fine until a couple of days ago when it happened again. As the car is no longer under warranty, I just reset the clock myself. I think this is a software problem. Skoda will obviously not do anything about it now so I will just live with it.

Coil Pack Electrical Connections
Thank you. I'll have another try at the weekend after having bought the tool suggested by nige8021.

Coil Pack Electrical Connections
I've been trying to disconnect the electrical connections to the coil packs (3 cylinder 1 litre petrol TSI) but without success. They are firmly on and whatever I do, they won't budge. I've looked on youtube but no luck unfortunately. Obviously I don't want to break them or the coil packs which need to come out for a service. Can anyone help me on how to do this please? A video would be great. Also if a special tool is needed, can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you.

Coil Pack Connectors
My son has a 2017 1.0 litre Octavia. Earlier today we tried to change the spark plugs but didn't get very far. We had difficulty disconnecting the wiring connector from the coil packs. Do we need a special tool or is there a knack to doing this? We couldn't see an easy way of separating the connector from the coil pack anddidn't use any great amount of force in fear of doing some damage. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Car Behaving Strangely
Had exactly the same problem again last week. Car telling me to change down a gear when I didn't need to. I had a 40 minute motorway journey planned for yesterday anyway so I drove between 60 and 70mph in third gear for about 30 minutes. This did clear the petrol particulate filter and all is back to normal. Still not impressed with this technology which, at the very least, is wasting my fuel and increasing emissions. Has anyone else had filter problems with their petrol car?

Totally Confused Over Correct Oil
My son has a 2017 1.0 litre Octavia without a petrol particulate filter. I have a 2018 1.0 litre Octavia with a petrol particulate filter. My son's car is coming up for its annual service which we intend to do ourselves so I have been researching which oil to use. Looking through this forum, Euro Car Parts and Opie oils web sites, I get the impression his car (without the PPF) needs 5w-30 spec oil to VW 504 specification. Looking a bit further ahead, my car (with the PPF) needs 0W-20 spec oil to VW 508 specification at its annual service although 5W-30 oil can be used quite safely (this in itself is confusing). Skoda dealers seem as confused over this and my local one can't even supply 0W-30 spec oil in 1 litre, 4 litre or 5 litre containers, Are my assumptions above correct or have I misunderstood completely. Please note we intend to service both cars annually. Thank you.

4 weeks old car and gearbox fault
Just simply reject the car. Having such a serious fault, it is not fit for purpose.

Do all TSI engines in Mk4 have GPF
Getting back to the original question, my MK3 1.0 Octavia registered in September 2018 unfortunately has a GPF but my sons 1.0 Octavia registered in December 2017 doesn't. Petrol cars registered from around late 2018 will therefore have a GPF. On two occasions the GPF has been problematical. The car asks me to change down a gear when I don't need to. I have managed to clear the problem by following the advice above but what a waste of my time and fuel. Absolute nonsense when something designed to reduce emissions actually increases them when they don't work.

Spare Wheel
My previous Fabia came from the factory with 16 inch wheels and a 15 inch spare with a 50mph warning sticker on it. Wasn't a problem at all as the tyre sidewall on the spare was bigger than the sidewall on the 16 inch wheels.

Clock & Trip Computer Reset Unexpectedly
I had this problem about 18 months ago. The trip meter went back to zero and the clock reset itself to 00.00. Also sometimes the clock showed the wrong time until I started up the car when it corrected itself. The Skoda dealer said they re-installed the software but the clock showing the wrong time problem is still there. I can't be bothered taking it back again so just live with this problem.
