I suppose it depends ... I've had both struts fail individually and I've been able to close by hand. I've also had a fault on the latching mechanism where a few times it was touch and go if it was going to lock .... I was a bit concerned because it was going to have a week sat in an airport carpark !! Not a good time for the boot to be left unlocked.

Agreed you also need to know which strut !

Well that's another year covered ! £410 All component with zero excess pretty good value I think. Like all insurance it's a gamble but I'm happy to have peace of mind. OMG Year 8 !

Guys ... Nor sure about consumption I've only done about a quarter of a tank as I've had Covid but I don't really check it. Engine feels rough with a marked drop in performance. I only put it in as a test and I certainty have the answer. I have a mate who has an S3 who swears he cant tell the difference. Next tank will feel like a free remap

Hi yes I had exactly the same symptoms ... It was the strut luckily I had purchased a year 6 warranty but dealer only replaced one. The other failed soon after and again was replaced under warranty.

Usually use Shell with the odd Texaco if I cant be arsed to drive the extra 5 minutes

Thanks boydee yeah I was pos it finally got me. Feeling pretty sorry for myself at mo it's pretty much like a good dose of the flu. Zero energy, aching all over, bad headache.... This morning though I find I have no smell !! Not much fun but I suppose I'm just joining the ranks of millions of other that have had it.

Before you buy your 280 or 272 make sure its not the less desirable version without exhaust flaps ....

Anyone found it a little stiff going from Park into Reverse ? Happened a couple of times this last week when parked on an uphill gradient.... Enough to make me grit my teeth a bit then say 'OUCH' if you know what I mean ....
