Crash resets after airbags replaced and reset battery faults
Worth sharing the scan with the experts here even if there are no battery related codes - there could be other issues that are having a bad effect.

Crash resets after airbags replaced and reset battery faults
I suspect you're going to have to do a fault code scan with OBD11, VCDS or similar to get more information on the cause.

Oil burning
Petrol or diesel, the vRS is available as either a TSI or TDI and both are 2 litre.

How to change Battery for Octavia 2017
I admire your confidence in Halfords, but don't share it - from personal experience over many years combined with posts on multiple car forums the competence of Halfords can be at best sketchy, so they're not a supplier I'd trust to do any work on cars of mine, parts yes but work no for me.

Oil temperature and DPF
When the aircon is recharged it normally includes as well as the gas a small amount of lubricant and (crucially here) an ultra-violet dye. Using a suitable ultra-violet lamp the location of leaks can be seen, allowing them to be fixed.

Best way/place to get vcds
Worth noting that if you buy used and the previous owner has registered with Ross-Tech before you can register for support they need to confirm that they have sold the cable (i.e. it hasn't been stolen) and you have to pay $99 to transfer ownership (and support).

Hifi of Yesteryear vs Today's effort!
In 2015 I was testing a new design of a variable frequency SMPS in the lab with it running at 10kHz which I, as a 60 year old, couldn't hear but when my 40 year old boss walked into the lab the first thing he said was "can't you hear that"? In a recent hearing test my hearing was more sensitive than 'normal' up to 8kHz but dropped off rapidly above that.

2014 Octavia VRS with Canton - what head unit can i upgrade to for smartlink ?
If you want to retain OE units then you'll need a MIB2 main unit (in the glove box) and screen. You don't say if you have an Amundsen or Columbus at present?

Bouncy When Loaded
Bouncing normally suggests shocks as their job is to damp down vertical motion. Have you tried the 'corner test' where you push down on each corner and see if the car does more than just one small rebound?

mk4 Octavia rs
Looking at the Octavia 4 forum it seems delivery delays are very model, spec and country dependent - some who ordered in 2021 being quoted deliveries in 2023! Not just due to chip shortages but also a fire in a factory suppling Octavia trim parts and some parts usually coming from Ukraine or Russia.

Octavia speedometer adjustment VCDS
The legal requirement for a speedo is that it must not underread and can overread by up to 10%. Practically this means that manufacturers setup their speedos to overread by around 5%, to allow for variations in tyre sizes and reduction in diameter as tyres wear. This overread translates to an overread in distance also.

Car doors wont lock, the boot wont open and the car wont start ! ........but other than that its working like a dream ;)
Is this a hybrid? Other owners have reported problem with the 12V battery not being charged properly on hybrid Octavias and a software update being needed at the delaer.

Have HEX+CAN - update to V2 or to buy something else instead..?
I'm pretty sure I've seen on the Ross-Tech forums that Gendan offer upgrades so worth contacting them first to avoid import delays/costs from the US.

Video play - anyone?
What about "The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, no one is permitted to drive if they can see a screen - unless it is displaying information." https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8966729/Shocking-moment-motorists-caught-camera-watching-TV-driving-heavy-traffic.html

Video play - anyone?
In the UK, where The Wanderer and I both live, such a law already exists, and AFAIK a similar law exists in the EU - which is why WHEN A VIDEO IS BEING WATCHED car manufacturers blank the infotainment screens above a certain (very low) speed.

How to add more music tracks
On my MIB1 Amundsen I used a 200GB SD card with over 40,000 tracks on it, all playable - sorted by artist and album as iriches says.

KPH/MPH
A major factor is that we drive RHD cars and most major manufacturers do their physical testing in LHD countries in LHD cars. Certainly this was the case when I worked at an automotive consultancy. The Type Approval of RHD versions is largely a paperwork exercise. With this testing regime problems like KPH/MPH, LHD/RHD won't show up - so IMHO VAG should take from this sorry episode that they need to do more physical testing of RHD cars in RHD countries before launch.

Protecting dc cables
+1 The aim of the regs is to reduce/prevent drilling through with masonry drill bits - which cope easily with plastic trunking but struggle/fail with steel trunking.

Called in for warranty audit?
Doesn't that make the dealer (assuming the audit is done by the same dealer that did the warranty work) both "poacher" and "game keeper"?

Minimum power to charge an Enyaq iV from a household EV charger
AFAIK EV chargers do not take their power exclusively from your own solar cells. If the power generated by your solar cells is less than all loads (including changing your Enyaq) are demanding then the difference is taken from the incoming supply from the National Grid.

mk4 Octavia rs
Remember forums tend to be visited by two groups - enthusiasts (with high expectations) and owners with problems. Having said that - similar issues are being reported with the Golf 8 (same platform) and the VW ID EVs - so it seems VAG may have rushed vehicles into production without sufficient software testing. Personally, I wouldn't touch an Octavia 4 for a couple of years (when I worked for an automotive consultancy a principal engineer at Ford Research in Dunton Essex advised that if you bought a new model in the first year of production you should expect to finish the development for them!). Caveat emptor...

Called in for warranty audit?
Maybe dealers have been asked to check whether all service campaigns and recalls have been applied?
-
Protecting dc cables
The Wiring Regulations advise that all concealed wiring should be covered/enclosed by trunking.

mk4 Octavia rs
You need to carefully read the Octavia 4 forum on here - there are issues with software bugs (some possibly safety affecting) and long delivery delays.
