  1. Camping? - I see no tents...
  2. Surely if the infotainment upgrade was the cause (which I'm 99.9999999999999% certain it isn't) the problems would have happened straight away? It would help if you post the detail of the codes rather than just vague descriptions. BTW when you do a firmware change on the infotainment unless you reset the SVM code (which @pab567explains) you WILL get a fault code, but it doesn't affect operation.
  3. VCDS requires the correct cable from either Ross-Tech or one of their distributors to work.
  4. Coding has to match the current state of the car, so it cannot be coded until after the trailer module etc is fitted - without generating fault codes, some of which may stop some systems working.
  5. USB is a digital data connection but a 2.5mm jack is an analogue audio connection, so no.
  6. Have you tried just copying the files off the D card, this always worked for me? The knowing that I had a backup copy I quick formatted the SD card and copied the unzipped downloaded files onto the SD card - worked every time for me.
  7. Fuel cutoff happens only when engine rpm is above approx 1400rpm, so when in 4th the engine rpm will be above that threshold and fuel will be cutoff but when in 5th the lower engine rpm will mean that the engine is still being fuelled.
  8. Please explain more what you mean by 'mp3' - USB stick, MP3 player, something else? If USB stick or similar how is it formatted?
  9. Nor did my 15 plate have it.
  10. Blame 'Dieselgate", VAG (all makers by implication) have to make their cars default to the modes in which the WLTP tests were done.
  11. The HEX-CAN cannot have its firmware updated to fully decode the longer CAN bus messages on newer cars. Both the HEX-V2 and HEX-NET fully support newer vehicles so this problem is solved with them.
  12. When I retired I went from a 4.2 V8 Audi to a 1.4TSI Octavia 3 and was pleasantly surprised with the performance, particularly the mid-range torque, of the 1.4 TSI so I would suggest you consider the 1.4TSI. Not read good things on here about the later 1.5TSI with ACT which had gained a bit of a reputation for kangaroo starts.
  13. The Skoda update site doesn't offer firmware updates, only map updates! Best way to get a firmware update (if one is available) is to contact @pab567
  14. Some of those require different hardware (ambient lighting & retractable mirrors spring to mind), so no they can't all be activated just by coding/adaptation changes.
  15. VAG group as a policy only build cars to the spec ordered (only exception I know is US spec cars have the pre-wiring for their satellite radio system installed).
  16. I've had Goodyear Eagle F1's on my last 2 cars and had only good experience. On my Audi RS4 they lasted over 15,000 miles - 50% longer than the OE fit Pirelli PZero Rosso, the same as two versions of the Michelin Pilot and only beaten by the Vredenstein Sessanta which made 18,000 miles. On my Octavia after 20,000 miles over 5 years they needed to be replaced not because of wear but because of sidewall cracking, most likely caused by being parked in the strong Devon sun all year round.
  17. All those and simply not testing properly, especially for RHD models.
  18. VCDS or VCP or OBDeleven, or someone mentioned here local to you will usually do it for 'beer tokens'
  19. No, coding changes are needed to enable the MFSW.
  20. This thread may help List of VCDS & VCP Owners
  21. The Highway Code definition of coasting is and is based on the premise that the driver is in control of the gears and clutch, and hence in an emergency where acceleration is required may fail to react quickly enough to restore 'drive' Coasting with a DSG gearbox is a different situation since the car remains in gear and within milliseconds of the driver pressing the accelerator the TCU will re-engage the appropriate clutch and restore 'drive'. Another case of the Highway Code not keeping up with vehicle technology and/or being poorly written.
  22. assume = ASS of U and ME 🤕
  23. Seems this is the real problem that needs solving - not anything to do with the SD card itself?
  24. '11 & '12 plates would have been an Octavia 2 which was a completely different design to a '14 plate Octavia 3. Owners who have switched from Octavia 2 to Octavia 3 have also commented that the road noise ('boom') is much worse on the Octavia 3, seems this is one consequence of the new lighter design.
