We'll have to agree to disagree on this one - I've had great experience of Tayna over many cars and many years. The price advantage, the difficulty of getting any organisation to honour a warranty and my lack of trust in Halfrauds is just too much for the local vs online factor to overcome (plus I own a HEX-NET2 VCDS cable so coding takes me 5 minutes).

Was the garage a Skoda dealer, an independent specialist or a general garage? Even from a Skoda dealer this sort of product ignorance is sadly not uncommon.

2014 = MIB1 since the MIB 2 only entered production during 2015 (for 2016 MY?). So yes it's a Columbus, but a MIB1.

Correct, CarPlay and Android Auto are SWaP (SoftWare as a Product) which means a code is needed to unlock it, I *think* the code is VIN specific (many are).

I used to use a micro SD card (plus adapter) of over 200GB with around 15,000 MP3 files on a MIB1 Amundsen with no problems. My first guess would be that it's a slow multi-layer memory card causing the problem as if it can read 1 in 20 FLAC files then the file format is probably not the issue - especially as I've had lots of (non-Skoda) problems with those sorts of SD cards.

I've owned an Audi RS4 Avant with full leather for 10 years which just needed basic leather cleaning before sale, and an Octavia III estate with part leather for 6 years which also needed just basic cleaning. Neither were treated with any special care, just used as family workhorses for 'dump runs', DIY store trips etc.

On many country roads there are no white lines for the Lane Assist system to detect and work, so I would say - AND with the Lane Assist systems.

The basic concept is flawed IMHO. The radar just looks straight forward even when you are approaching a bend, so when a car comes round that bend it thinks you're driving straight at that car - which you know you're not as you can see the approaching bend! If they integrated the radar with the GPS and the maps they could make it better...

When I had a MIB1 Amundsen like that I found several genuine Skoda SD cards on eBay (other auction sites are available) for around 10-20% of the cost of a new one. The year doesn't matter buy what you can, then download the latest available from the Skoda portal and update the SD card. BTW Skoda stopped making updates available after 2020 - 5 years after the MIB1 went out of production.

The BMS will still think the old battery is fitted, which won't be helping.

As said this is the Mk3 forum, you would be better posting in the Mk2 forum.

Of my last 3 cars none came with a full size spare. The 1.4TSI Octavia estate came with a steel space saver. The RS4 came with gunk (but I got a space saver spare which had to live in the boot as the 'spare wheel well' was full of battery - no room under the bonnet). The Aygo came with a space saver which soon got replaced with a full size steel spare.

Take a look in the Octavia 4 forum, and you'll see several owners have reported problems with Front Assist.

AFAIK only on some Audi RS models is ESP off an option - on the Octavia 3 the options are ESP On & ESP Sport, usually by changing the value in byte 29 of the ABS coding Controller 03 - ABS 07 - Coding Byte 29 02 – Stock (for non-vRS) ESC ON / ASR OFF 09 – Stock (for vRS) ESC ON / ASR OFF / ESC SPORT

Assume = ASS of U and ME 🤩

Not gat a photo of my actual one, but I'm ashamed to admit my first student car was a white Renault 6 like this one! It lasted 2 months before ending up upside down in a ditch...

Sadly that lack of product knowledge seems far too common amongst Skoda dealers 😬

From living nearby I can from personal experience say that the priority for the next hub should be Taunton Deane - that gets busiest of all the M5 MSA in the West Country as people seem to like to get well past Bristol before stopping.

Because Skoda didn't move the bonnet lever on RHD cars - on a LHD car that door can be opened using the emergency key and you can open the bonnet to charge the battery, but on RHD cars it's the other door that you open with the emergency key.

Sounds like it hadn't disabled the motion sensor?

I had it several times, usually when the motorway was busy and the sat nav thought it might be quicker to come off the motorway and straight back on - I doubt it ever would have been!

If you look at the Octavia 4 forum there are many people who have been waiting more than 12 months, and some who have been told to expect to wait more than 18 months - so I would treat 12 months with some considerable scepticism.
