  1. And on the basis that my system was making odd hissing sounds, I got a airco “specialist” to come to me and he said it jest needed a regas and two days later the noise returned. Dammit. Should’ve listened to SJ above and others who said said it wouldn’t be low gas. Anyway, I mentioned this to the Indy dealer I use for service when I was there for an oil change and in 2 mins they found the pipe leaving the condenser had leak. To be fair, the “specialist” refunded me the £120 he charged. And to top it all, when I took it in for the AC to be fixed, they found the water pump housing was leaking! Bloody expensive month that was!
  2. Or they turn it on and if it’s chilly, it’s good to go and you’re down £50. (or whatever the ludicrous amount 30mins of main dealer labour is these days).
  3. Yes, you can. It’s in the manual.
  4. I know. It’s a bleedin’ liberty! I called the SMMT to lodge my complaint and they were extremely rude.
  5. The wife’s NSR failed on her 2003 Focus a couple ow weeks ago and the glass is being held-up with a bit of 32mm waste pipe until a new unit arrives and can be replaced. Ridiculously, Ford have not agreed it’s still under warranty, about which I’m absolutely fuming…
  6. I’ve had the alloys refurbed more times than I can remember; the wheels on this car has had a propensity to find kerbs others have feared to touch! 😖 No I’m serious. I’ve never kerbed any of the ‘00’s of cars I’ve had prior to the 280 (OK, OK, so I did rip the bottom of the engine out of my cocar Sierra 2.0l Ghia estate on an unlit centre kerbstone bollard - Merton Council paid for the damage) and whilst it’s cost more than powder coating, I’ve kept them OE as I think they’re a very smart-looking wheel. I also had the worm removed a couple of years ago and, as yet, it hasn’t returned.
  7. In my case, I found there were too many badges on the back and it looked awful IMO. As for the L&K badges stickers well, they're just plain naff. As for resale it won't make a difference, as the L&K script is everywhere in the car; on the gear selector, the passenger side dash and on the four main seatbacks. I debaged it the first week after we'd bought it. I just like the clean look. And I like surprising the BMW drivers when they think "oh, its just a Skoda and probably a diesel "!
  8. I agree. I use mine a lot, primarily for calls. It’s great.
  9. Despite what the news outlets have reported, France wasn’t “unsafe”; the protests and rioting was restricted to a few small areas in Paris and elsewhere. Friends who live in Paris have said they’ve seen nothing of the issues.
  10. Nice one RoscIo and it’s great that you’ve kept the Superb. Briskodian Prykey, who was the original owner of our 280, part ex’d it for a new Mustang GT in Feb ‘21 and it went to the block. It was bought by George Kingsley, a performance car specialist in Chelmsford and I bought it from them in March ‘21.
  11. And it’s exactly reasons such as this which means I’ll never use a franchise dealer again…
  12. It’d be helpful if you tell us the model and year and add a pic of the sensor and broken bit?
  13. Hmmmm. Well, on the basis they’ve been adjusted by someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing too, by the sound of it, I’d get it to a local respected VW indy and get them to check the headlights, because the xenons on ours are great.
  14. How long have you owned the car? What makes you think it’s set to low?
  15. Must be different on the PHEV iv. Only our MKI had a lecky fuel flap release.
  16. Boy, I wish I’d kept SWMBO Panda 4x4 given how much they’re now worth. Loved that car, but the rear diff was so noisy, thought it was time to say goodbye…🙄
  17. Thanks JR. So the TPW went off today on the NSR. When I got home, I found there was a large screw on the centre of the tread, which was good as at least it wasn’t the sidewall, which would’ve killed the tyre. I thought this was a bit weird, so I checked the other tyres and the bloody NSF also had the same type of screw imbedded in the tyre! So I went to a local indy tyre supplier and they repaired both punctures for £30. Bit of a crappy week as I found a small but deep dent, which has removed the paint, at the bottom of the NSR door too. 🙄
  18. What’s the benefit of updating the firmware, JR?
  19. I just checked mine Graham, in it stops 12mm from the edge of the plastic windscreen moulding at the top of the screen. 20-25mm will be far too much, and it’ll foul at the bottom of the screen.
  20. Don’t botch it, Graham - get one of these. Easily cracked the stuck-fast arms off the splines on the MKI and II.
  21. Worth a try. Is there any play in the arms when it’s parked? Also put it in the service position, so turn the ignition on, then off and then immediately push down and hold the wiper stalk and the wipers will rise and park vertically on the screen. Check again for any play in the mechanism.
  22. Hmmmm…. So it seems like it has to be engine or ancillaries, but what runs at a constant speed?
  23. Could also be a wheel sensor. Ours had all those faults when the NSR sensor failed.
  24. Yeah, that’s really annoying. So it stays at a constant pitch, regardless of engine speed? I’m guessing as well as the AC, you’ve also turned off the ventilation fan to eliminate that?
