  1. One thought would be to ask at your local windscreen replacement company. They remove A pillar trims all the time. tom

When I remove the filler cap on my 1.5 dsg I get the classic hiss as air rushes into the tank. This is the my first car ever (in my 50+ years of motoring) that does it. It's not had any effect on the way the car drives, even after 300+ mile between fills. Anyone else had this? tom
  3. Just disable kessy when you lock the car, no need for a faraday bag. tom

My problem is there are too many variables. Does the small spare count as a raised floor or is that only for the full size spare? Does varioflex count as a split rear seat? What works when the seats are not just folded down but folded up? How about when the rear seats are removed? As you can see from above giving a “simple” answer such as “Google” doesn't work, that’s why I am asking here. Has anyone got a similar car with similar seats and also boot protection, if so what and how well does it work? tom edit: On thinking about it, the answer “Google” will work for 90% of the questions asked on this forum, really useful! Have a Karoq 1.5 SEL with “skinny” spare and Varioflex seats. I am looking for full boot protection that will work with the rear seats folded up and if possible with them removed. I am currently using two tarps that are not really satisfactory, something ‘fitted’ would be better. Tom
  6. Not sure what you mean by "internal" but here is one answer. When I have watched tyres being balanced the machine not only shows the 'o'clock' position but also where 'side to side' the weight should be placed. Modern wheels being so wide makes this necessary. tom

For the doctor's cars on previous tours, they used a VW or Audi convertible plastered with Skoda lettering because Skoda were a big sponsor. I just looked at the Sunroq online and the bootlid/hood cover is raised. Will check again today but I can't place seeing it like that on the current tour car. This video is from a previous tour: https://www.wsj.com/video/tour-de-frances-rolling-doctors-patching-riders-at-25mph/2337573F-B017-4C77-9301-FFC501A7AF90.html

On my over 100,000 mile diesel Yeti, post fix and post the free (£1000) replacement of of the EGR under the 'Trust building measure' regens became more frequent. I think this was because of fewer 'passive regens' and more 'active' ones were taking place as a result of the fix. If arriving home I turned off and the fan was running then I would immediately take the car for a run in 3rd and 4th gear to clear the excess diesel. When the tbm expired I got rid of the car. My driving pattern was changing and I no longer trusted the car. It is my view that diesel particulate filters are a flawed technology and anyone buying a diesel (especially on a lease with a lowish annual mileage stated) would have a good case for miss selling. When I was looking to replace the Yeti I was considering a diesel LR Discovery Sport. At least the salesman was honest. He told me that I would need to do a 25 mile dual carriageway run "at least once a week". The local BMW dealer told me it wouldn't be a problem on a new X1, yeah right! I ended up with a petrol Karoq dsg and not looked back. tom

Sorry to put a dampener on this. The dpf regeneration is 'fuelled' by extra diesel being pumped into the engine to raise the temperature. By turning off the engine you have interrupted the regeneration. The extra diesel then washes down the bores diluting the engine oil. It is important therefore to check your oil level more often. If regenerations are interrupted too often the dipstick shows a higher oil level. The Daily Telegraph motoring correspondent has a lot of stuff on this. Here are two for starters. https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/askhj/answer/41640/is-rising-oil-level-a-symptom-of-a-dpf-fault- https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/what-is-a-dpf-and-does-your-car-have-one/ tom
  11. When I was looking to get rid of my Yeti at the end of 2018 I checked out the Niro. We really liked it, however we were surprised to find the UK version was not type approved for towing. You could legally get a tow bar fitted but not tow with it, just use it for a bike rack. No good for me. If you need to tow (even a small trailer) it would be worth checking this out. . Ended up back with Skoda and a Karoq. tom
  12. Had to reverse my 1.5 dsg up a slope last week. I was facing a wall and it was a bit disconcerting when it rolled forward, probably just an inch, before the gearbox got the car moving. tom
  13. Saw this photo in the Carista thread. Is it possible to get a "wood" trim like this for my Karoq? Our car is fitted with the black trim that has a sort of grain which just looks, well, black! A wood trim like this was available for the Yeti and lightens the cabin. tom
  14. My memory is that the Yeti had a spare that was smaller than the full size wheel but not a true skinny spare. Could this be similar with the Karoq but now a skinny spare is also an option. Tom
  15. If only there was a 66db tyre that fitted my karoq! The problem is finding a tyre to fit. 215/50 R18 is not a common size. Tom
  16. Anyone fit any extra soundproofing to their Karoq? I would just like that little bit extra luxury in my 1.5 sel dsg. I intend to go for quieter tyres when the time comes to change and possibly fit 17" wheels. I am already finding the Turanzas are getting noisier as they wear. tom
  17. This got me searching Google. I came across Professional Retrofits Limited who state: "We are pleased to offer a rear view camera systems for Skoda Karoq. Rear view camera for Skoda Karoq is available only in Highline version. Version HIGH comes with additional rear view camera module and it will provide dynamic, moving guidelines, and also it would also provide a two parking modes. Transverse parking, useful to park into a slot which is transverse to the driving direction on for reverse driving into a longer entry and parking mode 2, Longitudinal parking, useful for parking into a slot along the driving direction on a curb. Skoda Karoq camera will start working as soon as you put your car into reverse gear. It shows the area behind your car on your radio or radio navigation system display offering you a clear reversing image with easy-to-follow guidelines." From what I can gather there is also a cheaper "Low" version that I assume is the one fitted to cars with fixed lines. tom
  18. Bought our 1.5 SEL Christmas 2018 and the parking lines do not bend. Other than front and rear sensors we have no other parking aids. tom
  19. Even less hassle is to deactivate kessy when you lock the car. tom
  20. Once I switch off the car it loses its last setting and reverts back to 'normal' mode. However the dashboard centre screen still shows the setting last used despite the car having reverted to 'Normal". It has been previously discussed on this forum and there would appear to be no solution. tom
  21. I don't understand, just turn it off at the start of the journey. Mine hasn't been working because of the Lockdown and the battery not being charged enough. I did a 30 mile drive today and it came back. tom
  22. On my Sel just a twitch of the steering wheel starts the engine. tom
  23. I was thinking of these, still live, looks similar. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/skoda-alloy-wheels-17-Inch/164068220445?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 tom
  24. Thanks. Think I may have seen those wheels on eBay! Using an ice hockey puck has the advantage that you can cut a slot in it for the sill seam. You would need to secure the puck to the jack safely. tom
  25. Did you buy the wheels new? What sort of price? Re trolley jack. If it is the sort with a cup then buy an ice hockey puck (hard rubber) and trim to fit the cup then cut a slot in it so it fits over the proper jacking point at the seam. Tom
