  1. I have a DSG SEL and the only time I have got anywhere near your mpg was when I was doing trips along the A14 at Cambridge when the roadworks were restricted to 40mph. I rarely do dual carriageway trips what with lockdown however I do live in a rural area. tom

I like the look of these but am concerned how effective they will be. I can't see how they would protect against another Karoq driver's door as the bottom part of the door would contact first. Go to the Ebay site and compare the Karoq door picture with the Tiguan door picture. The Karoq door position is inset. tom
  3. Official Skoda Yeti bars fit onto studs on the roof rails. The Karoq rails do not have the holes to fit these studs. Do a search re roof bars. Some Lidl/Aldi ones will fit. The Yeti rubber mats, rears and front passenger, fit perfectly. The drivers side just requires one hole punched. I took my 'ash tray' with me, used for parking machine change. The carrier bag hooks in the boot look the same. I forgot to swop any over to get a couple of extras. tom

Wow, they are ugly! I liked the stick on ones on my Yeti, wonder if they are the right size for the Karoq? tom
  5. I always thought the hazy film on the inside of the screen was from the vinyl on the dash. tom
  6. This from the Daily Telegraph's Motoring Correspondent site. "Excellent explanation of how a/c works from Railroad in The backroom forum: Air conditioning works by compressing, condensing and evaporating a refrigerant gas R134a. The gas boils at a very low temperature, -26 degrees Celsius. Under normal operation the compressor compresses the gas against an expansion valve (later in the system). The compressed gas becomes hot and at high pressure which then enters a condenser. Air passes through the condenser which allows some of the heat to be dissipated into the air which in turn causes the gas to condense into a high pressure liquid. The liquid the leaves the condenser and passes through a receiver dryer to allow and moisture which could damage components to be safely collected. The moisture free liquid then passes through a tiny nozzle (expansion valve), on the other side of which is a much bigger space. The liquid then becomes low pressure and subsequently the temperature falls considerably. The low pressure cold liquid passes into the evaporator which is inside the car. Heat from inside the car is drawn to the cold evaporator which then causes the low pressure liquid to evaporate into a low pressure gas, which in turn is drawn back to the compressor where the whole process starts over again. If you don't run the system for long periods of time the gas will never turn to a liquid. The seals in the system can then dry out and deteriorate, causing the gas to be lost." tom
  7. I fitted my Yeti rubber mats. What mod did you do for the driver's mat? tom
  8. Sorry, that as well. Probably a better idea. tom
  9. Thinking of having these wrapped in proper wood finish e.g, walnut etc. On the Yeti you could buy the trim in a wood finish. Has anyone wrapped these pieces? tom
  10. Never saw the warning on either my key or my wife's. Must assume we weren't looking. tom
  11. Aircon needs to be used regularly otherwise the seals dry out. Mine is on all year. tom
  12. Does this mean the bulbs will be available from a dealer? tom
  13. I used the rubber mats from my Yeti. They fit well. On the driver's side only one of the plastic "knobs" is in the right place to hold the mat. It does hold the mat so no problem. tom
  14. Initially some fueling issues, stalled on a roundabout a couple of times (2.0L TDI). Fixed at the next service. Went into limp mode a couple of times, once in London 80 miles from home. Switching off and on reset it. Took it to the dealer who said to plug it in to the computer would cost me approx £80.00. Luckily the dealer found an intermittent fault so didn't charge me. Had the egr replaced for free under the Trust Building Measure warranty (a near £1000 job on a Yeti). No passive dpf regenerations, all active. Fan running on when stopping even after a 60 mile dual carriageway journey thus having to go on another drive to clear the excess diesel. All this while doing nearly 20,000 miles a year, regular runs to Cambridge and London I didn't trust the car after that. Once TBM ran out I looked around to replace it. Initially I was never going to buy another VAG car. Two factors changed my mind, one was driving the 1.5 TSI DSG and the other was I trusted my local dealer. The dealer had a SEL with 60 miles on the clock. I drove a same spec demo on a Friday and collected my car on the Monday. Got a satisfactory P/X deal. I now only do low mileage, under 5,000 miles a year and together with lockdown my petrol Karoq is perfect. Aside from the "fix" problems the Yeti was the perfect car, loved its boxy shape, air of utility, easy parking, good all round visibility. Shame the fix wrecked it. tom
  15. Yes.
  16. I thought my yeti was a more than 10 year keeper. The "fix" screwed that idea. tom
  17. Prise off the lock cover like you do when the battery key fob fails and you need to gain manual entry. tom

I get notification on the centre console on the fuel consumption screen (not the 'Average'). tom
  19. Apropos my question above where the answer was CR2025. I did a search and found on the Fabia Forum that a CR2032 could be used instead of a CR2025, albeit a tight squeeze in the key. Has anyone put a CR2032 in a Karoq key? tom
  20. During the current situation my start/stop rarely comes on even after a 30+ mile journey, as it is we don't do many 30+ mile journeys. If it is a battery voltage problem remember a lot of battery charging is done whilst the engine is not under load e.g. on overrun etc. tom

Any photos of cars with 16" rims? I am thinking about smaller wheels for my SE L. tom
  22. There has been other discussions re this. My understanding is that updates are issued around Nov/Dec each year. Any update done in September will be 9 months out of date, one reason I have my car's annual service done in January. tom
  23. Is the battery a CR2025 or a CR2032? tom
  24. Back in the 90s I had a 3 cylinder BMW K75 bike. It was very smooth and at tickover I could balance a £1 coin on edge on the running engine (revving would make the coin jump off). Being half a 6 cylinder it has near perfect balance (only near because of the secondary vibes). It made a lovely sound when revved. I bounced it off the rev limiter a few times just to hear it. tom
