  1. No good for me. Compared to my standard size of 215/50 R18 this size (215/65 R17) would under read the speed which isn't legal. See https://tiresize.com/comparison/ tom
  2. Like the wheels. Which ones are they? 16 inch? tom
  3. I have only used them once. Didn't bother to use the gear lever to put it into Manual. I just pulled the left paddle a couple of times to get a lower gear for an overtake on a country road, quicker than relying on the kickdown. After the overtake I held the right paddle to put it back to normal. tom
  4. Are they any quieter? Have they improved the ride? tom

See my post of December 23 here: Still think that, aside from under the carpets and the boot floor and spare wheel well, fitting sound deadening is easier said than done. Access to the wheel arches (trim removal) and door skins (door card removal) may be problematical. Has anyone done it? tom

MoT Inspection manual says in Section 5.2.3. Tyres (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles/5-axles-wheels-tyres-and-suspension#section-5-2-1) Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) The inspection of the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is for M1 vehicles first used on or after 1 January 2012. The TPMS warning lamp (see diagram 3) can operate in many ways depending on the vehicle type. You must only reject vehicles if it’s clear that the lamp indicates a system malfunction and not simply indicating that one or more of the tyre pressures is low. Diagram 3. Example of a TPMS warning lamp Note the bit "only reject vehicles if it’s clear that the lamp indicates a system malfunction". Various thoughts: Escalate to Skoda HQ Get it in writing that this is not a system malfunction and the dealer indemnifies you against a MoT failure on this point Get it in writing that you should ignore it Is your insurance valid driving with this warning light on? Good luck tom
  7. Just do a search on Facebook for James Rothwell Dubai. Tom

Thought I'd raise this again. I recently contacted Noisekiller in Royton. They have a kit for the Karoq but haven't yet posted the fitting instructions on their website. They emailed them to me. Must admit I'm a bit daunted by the things you have to do. "INTERIOR OF VEHICLE 5 and 5a Undo the carpet kick strips by the door and slide these pads under the front carpets. Item 5a goes under front seat 6 and 6a These slide under passenger front carpet 6 a under the seat 7 and 8 These fit alongside the side of the transmission tunnel 7 to drivers side 9 & 10 These pads fit under the rear foot well carpets Pads Because of all the electrics in this area adhere these pads under the seat and on the upright of the frame" Access under the carpet doesn't seem too difficult "BOOT COMPARTMENT. 11* & 12* These adhere to the rear wheel arches side and top drivers side 13* & 14* Adhere to the passenger side rear wheel arch and top Pads 5 pads are included to fit on the rear wings" No idea how to remove the trim to get access to the inside of the side panels. The spare wheel and under boot carpet fitting (not quoted) seems straightforward. "PADS Adhere one pad to the outer skin of each door." The last door card I removed was in the 1960s on my Ford Anglia. I'm a bit wary of going inside the Karoq doors to get to the outer skin what with electrics and windows etc. Tom SKODA KAROQ 2017 onwards.docx
  9. Thanks As you gather I missed the chart title under the "MyFuelLog2" headings Aged eyesight is my excuse. to
  10. My original rear wiper judders according to how cold it is. No real problem with the fronts. I use VAG washer fluid and when the screen gets greasy I clean it with white vinegar. tom
  11. I find this very confusing. Are these miles or litres? Is it based on what the car is telling you or "fill to fill" figures What are the single digit figures, (Aug 2020)? I can't believe that you were getting 9mpg at times, are these individual journey figures? Did you really get 99mpg at one point (Dec 2018)? The only chart that makes sense to me is the last one. tom

If you are thinking of towing check whether the e-Niro is type approved for it. I only mention this because two years ago when I was looking to change my Yeti I looked at, and liked, a Kia Niro hybrid. I really liked the car until I found out it was not type approved in the UK for towing. I could legally fit a towbar but not use it for towing, go figure. The only thing I could use it for was a bike carrier. tom
  13. What software/app are you using? Do you have the Ebay link. tom
  14. My left hand gets cold in these circumstances as well. tom

Cold morning today and leaving the house I had to do a classic turn right and accelerate into the traffic. Needless to say I got the front wheels tramping. None of my previous cars (Yeti tdi, Passat tdi estate, Passat 1.8 petrol estate) did this. The car is fitted with Bridgestone Turanzas, that I do not like, a noisy tyre. Is this a peculiarity of the car (1.5 Tsi DSG, FWD) or the tyres. Does it do this with other makes of tyres? tom
  16. Found this thread: And this: tom
  17. Just sat in the car and pressed "Phone". After trying I get the response "Phone not responding", Bluetooth is on. However, I realised that I was trying to get the car to pair with the phone once I got the phone to search for and pair with the car it worked. It has imported my Contacts and I now have the battery indicator at the top of the central screen. Result Tom
  18. Anyone found that they "lose" the little strap you have to pull to raise and lower the rear seat backrests. Having folded the backrest it always seems to get tucked in and out of sight making it difficult to raise. . It would be easier if it was a bright colour so making it easier to find. tom
  19. Very. tom
  20. That's a thought. The contacts are there when hard wired, haven't checked otherwise. tom
  21. It certainly works with my hedge. I am sure the sensitivity cam be adjusted somewhere. tom
  22. Try it in a safe place with a large cardboard box. When it does brake it's instant. tom
  23. When I bought my SEL the dealer got me to sit in the car, connect my iPhone 5 via USB and set it up. I rarely (say never) use the phone in the car. However the central display did always show a little battery graphic with the state of charge at the top of the screen. This was so whether or not the phone was hardwired to the car. I have recently got an iPhone 8 (another of my son's cast offs). I set up the phone and transferred over the SIM card and it works OK. However I no longer get the battery graphic on the car's central screen, even when connected via USB to the car. Bluetooth is set up on the phone. What am I missing? tom
  24. Forget traction. In winter conditions a front wheel drive car on winter/all season tyres will out brake a 4wd car on "summer" tyres. I prefer "stopping" in those conditions rather than "going". tom
  25. Give the car a decent run with the aircon on. Keep it on all the time. I never turn ours off. In two years I have only done 10,000 miles, currently doing lots of 2 mile journeys. tom
