Properly set up with a powerful bike you don’t know the trailer is there. That's the risk. I have been within 30mph of the world land speed record for a bike towing a trailer, with the wife on the back and a fully laden trailer. I slowed with the wife yelling down the intercom and banging on my shoulders. That was a long time ago. Old age etc and the wife no longer riding pillion and me struggling to manhandle it around meant me selling it in 2016. I bought a 450cc CCM single at under half the weight, dropping 100bhp that keeps me biking, albeit solo. Apologies for the thread hijack. Tom

Yamaha FJR1300. More comfortable than my two previous BMWs (K75, R1100RT). Wife and I went camping with all the gear in a trailer. The bike didn't know the trailer was there. It was capable of highly illegal speeds. tom

I once bought a new 150bhp sports tourer motorbike without having a test ride. I had sat on a few, I knew it fitted me, it was comfortable and the price was right. It turned into the best bike I ever owned. tom

Thanks, I didn't think of checking the iPhone settings. I checked my phone settings and the App setting for 'ALLOW LOCATION ACCESS' is "While using the App". I will change it to "Always" and see what happens. tom

Now I've got Connect Lite working I am quite pleased with it. One problem is that for an individual trip I get the data: 'Start mileage', 'End mileage', 'Distance', 'Average speed' and 'Maximum speed'. However the journey doesn't show on the map. All I get is the message. "Sorry, we do not have sufficient GPS data to display your trip in map view". I am doing short journeys. How do I turn the GPS on? In the settings on the App the GPS 'Recording of GPS data while driving' box is set, it just doesn't seem to do it. I haven't set the 'GPS for challenges'. tom

My MY19 has an elasticated hook on the underside of the boot floor. Another cost cutting exercise (like the removable torch). tom

Could be worse. A guy I worked with in the 80s scraped a wall on the way home from collecting his his brand new car. It had less than 15 miles on the clock. tom

I have always left my air con on summer and winter over various cars since 1996 (the first time I had a car with it fitted). tom

I keep my cars to the point of throwing them away and have never bothered with extended warranty. Whenever a sales person has pushed it, whether on a car or a washing machine, I always ask whether they are really saying that the car will break down in that time. I am not a betting person. I know an Actuary who works in the insurance industry and he would never buy an extended warranty. 190,000 miles on a petrol Passat estate (10 years). 140,000 miles on a diesel Passat estate (14 years) I only got rid of it because the Scrappage Scheme was too good to ignore. 109,000 miles on my diesel Yeti (9 years). I only part exchanged that because the 'fix' ruined it and my mileage was changing. Now with a 1.5 Tsi Sel DSG and my only (mild) regret is that it doesn't have that rugged look of the Yeti. A great car that gets regularly praised in the press. tom

Petrol cars warm up quicker than diesels. Diesel convert the power in the fuel more efficiently so less is wasted on heat. tom

On my Yeti I'm sure it was on a plate on the driver's side B pillar. Not checked the Karoq. tom

...but the sill jacking point is designed for that purpose. tom

A tip re using trolley jacks. Buy a rubber ice hockey puck and cut a slot in it to go over the sill seam jacking point. I had to also do some cut outs on the underside so it fitted the cup on the jack. Works a treat. tom

Found this: I have previously jumped through some of the hoops above including up to keying the number into the Amundsen. Still getting nowhere so I decided to delete the App from my phone and start again. This time the 'registration' went smoothly and it asked me for the BT code on the Data Plug (didn't do that before!). My phone has also remembered the login and password, didn't do that before either. I can see the battery voltage that I knew must be low because the Start/Stop hasn't cut in for months. Can't wait to drive the car and see what I get. tom

I just don't like the 18" Bridgestones. Size does make a difference. tom

Thanks. Sounds like I have to get my iPhone to discover the data plug. At the moment I'm still trying to work out why my iPhone and iPad can't find the login on my Apple Keychain even though my MacBook has no problem. tom

Hi Do you need to connect your phone to the car by cable? If not how does your phone get the data? The original Skoda Connect I had when I bought the car at the end of 2018 required the phone to be connected to the car by cable. tom

Just tried logging in on my MacBook and the system now knows the car details. At the moment my iPhone hasn't got the App password from the Cloud, so I can't yet connect (it's one of those 'strong' Apple passwords). Once the password is sorted does my phone have to be plugged into the car for the App to collect any data? I can't see how it gets information otherwise as the car doesn't have its own internet connection unless the phone is plugged into the car. Thanks again, I'm getting there slowly. tom

Thanks, there was no way I could get that low with my head at such an angle that I could focus on anything close. However I found a photo online and got it in the end. I was looking too far into the footwell. Didn't realise it was closer to where my knees go than the pedals. Have also been jumping through hoops trying to register on the App. So far I have input my VIN four times just going around in circles (different attempts on two different devices). I have been using computers since before they had VDU screens (yes it was like that once) so I am not a total numpty. Glad the plug didn't cost much, not sure I'll be able to use it anyway if I can't get the App to work. it's not even heavy enough to use as a paperweight. tom

...so ...got my data plug today. Where do I plug the thing in. I have been down on my hands and knees with a torch in the drivers side footwell and still can't see where it goes, albeit bifocals don't help: tom

Sorry to state the obvious but have you tried playing with the seat height? I would start by raising the seat to the highest setting and work down from there. Most of the time people adjust from low to high not high to low. tom
