  1. make one, i made mine- couple of glass lifters, sturdy tripod and lots of gaffa tape/ duck tape. this one survived a vw caddy with a 1.8T engine transplant wheel spinning off ( the guy was so eager to get some photos, he didnt listen to what i said when i explained he had to set of slowly) so its pretty sturdy. but tbh to get a sucessful rig shot you only need to travel at 3 0r 4 mph for around 5-10 seconds, with a nice smooth set off, so the rig wont be under much stess at all. also if you browse through my flickr you can see loads of rigshots that ive done with this set up http://www.flickr.com/photos/danny_takes_photos/page5/ im going to be doing some more rig shots of my car in the near future, anyone around sheffield is welcome to tag along and have some photos taken if they like, it will most likely be in meadowhall shopping centre underground carpark. ill probably put up a post nearer the time.
  2. you could make a collage of all different coloured film, put it behind and have rainbow coloured instrument lights!
  3. do you reckon you could put a sheet of coloured film ( like what quality street is wrapped in) behind the dial panel to change the colours of the lights? always thought about doing it, dont know if it would work though!
  4. probably leaky door seals letting the water in and its soaking into your carpets, very common problem in fabias. check your rear footwells, if they are like swimming pools ( mine were) then thats the problem. do a search theres plenty of threads on how to cure the problem and even a video on youtube.
  5. i shouted 'Or8 Palin!' at Michael Palin in St. Pancras train station, he just smiled and carried on walking.
  6. the one we have here at work is by a brand called ION. the quality deteriorated a lot when printing at any size above 6x4. as the prints where for customers we couldnt give inferior quality prints to them, so we just stopped using the thing all together. up to 6x4 wasnt bad, for home use it would be okay, but for a business they were still no good. as for other brands i cant comment on what they will be like. i also cant comment on which are good and bad for what ever amount of money, i only know about this one as, like i say, ive used it at work.
  7. it took longer to find a pic of the CH's at the right angle than it did to drop them onto the car, they still arnt 100% correct angle but are close enough, think they are a littel to large too but you get the idea
  8. we had a USB neg scanner and it was good for scanning the negs to be kept on a computer, but the prints were not very good quality. if all you want to do is store them on your computer/ upload to facebook etc then id say go with these, especially as they are a lot quicker than scanning with a conventional scanner. We use a epson v350 which takes about 30 seconds per negative to scan, where as the USB scanner took around 5 seconds per negative.
  9. i have some beuties ive found over the years that ive captured with my camera phone, heres a couple a pub sign with some slight reworking O_o
  10. ok, does anyone know what 2 brand new (8mm tread) goodyear f1 eagles and 2 nearly new (6 mm tread) are worth? then can i get uniroyal rainsports to fit the montreals? IIRC the wheels are the same size and width etc as standard VRS ones. once i have the correct size tyres will my speedo etc work as it should? my car needs the tyres now so i may just have to buy a set of tyres for the wheels thats on it and forget about the montreals :(
  11. hmmm, ok, guess ill forget these wheels then, the main reson i wanted them was that they had new tyres on, if the tyres are the wrong size they would still need replacing so kinda defeats the object of buying them in the first place. guess ill be sticking with standard alloys and just buying thenew tyres for them in the correct size.
  12. Just been out to check mine, as ive noticed condensation in the car and my rear drivers side footwell is soaking wet. is the rear wash pipe on the drivers side? if not this is more likely a leaky door seal in my case. sorry for the slight thread hijacking.
  13. i cant see the extra 10mm in tyre height making much difference, surely putting 17" or larger wheels on it is a lot worse. ill give adrian flux a ring tomorrow and see what deal i can get form them!
  14. yea i have tried confused.com, but they were coming back around £2000. The quote i got from HIC was from when my renewel was due on my polo, i explained i had bought a fabia and was just waiting for the insurnace to run out on the polo before i insured the fabia. she offered to do a quote for it and it came back at £1050 when i said i would probably change the wheels and lower it.
  15. Ive been looking at getting some new wheels on my fab, as its coming up for needing new tyres, and for the cost of 4 tyres ive seen some nice montreal II alloys that have just been refurbed in anthacite and have new Eagle f1 tyres on. £400 quid which i think is a steal providing they have been refurb and with the tyres. i did a quick photoshop of what the would look like on the fab As they are 16s i think the car would benefit from a bit of lowering, i was just wondering if anyone knew an insurance company that covers lowering that isnt goin to rape me (22 years old, 2 years NCB as i was on parents insurance for 2 years, 4 years driving experience in total, no bans points convictions etc) the cheapest ive found is swift cover at £650 but i cant have it lowered as they dont cover that. the cheapest ive found where i can lover it was something like £1050 through HIC but i cant justify 400 quid extra just to lower the car 40mm. any help/ feedback on the wheels would be great. thanks
  16. Noooo! i wanted TH's on my fab :( hard to find 2nd hand 5 studs and cant afford new though. IMO the TH's suit the car, they remind me of the rally fabia. Keskins are very nice wheels too but i still prefer the TH
  17. yeah, good photos! looks like it was a pretty good gig!
  18. You should be able to get the garage to pay for the repair or repalcement of the pollen filter/cover, as its something that should be there. Dealers are bound by the law to sell a car in roadworthy condition and that, in my opinion, isnt in roadworth condition. try here, this may provide a bit more info on what action you can take: http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/advice/problemswithvehicles-sum6.cfm
  19. if you have a roof rack , Thule do a roof rack bike mount, theyre about 40-50 quid. they are compatible with most makes of roof rack.
  20. the fabia ive just bought needed this doing, like moggytech said its the resistor thats gone. i think the resistor cost something like 45 quid ( the guy who i bought it off fixed it before i took the car)
  21. good job, my old car used to get a lot of condensation in it, never thought of changing the pollen filter though. ill keep it in mind if it ever happens to my fab.
