How much does a 16" steel spare wheel weigh?

Interesting thought :- Does a wheel and tyre weigh more when fully inflated or flat. -
Can't remember who said but " If it ain't broke then don't fix it" And why would we want to copy the likes of Vauxhall and Citroen , not much of a reference to stand up against. Yes, I agree some "noob" has been paid a fist full, to redesign what was already good, and highly regarded in the industry. There's only one person who’s going to pay that "noob" and guess who that is.

I too have the same problem with my FL Octy, and consider this omission to be a major safety factor.

Ordering a new car question
ramonford replied to Dougall's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
If you already have a private number plate that is going onto the car from day 1, can any of this be saved? Dougall Yes. As you have said you already have a private plate and I am assuming you have already had this physical plate on another vehicle belonging to you . Therefore, as you already have the number plates, which were on a previous vehicle, you will be able to instruct the dealer to fit these to your new car. I have done this on many occasions in spite of words to the contrary from the dealer that this can't be done. Many dealers don't like doing this for obvious reasons, but then again you are not here to please the dealer. -
Going to see a car tomorrow - Few questions?
ramonford replied to nickg123's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Sounds like a very neglected car. So many things already spotted, what else is hidden. I think you're on for a hiding for nothing. There are so many other good cars from Skoda dealers all carrying a 12 month warranty, why take the risk. If I were to make an offer for this car it would only be if the seller agreed to get a full Skoda report ( at their expense) and then and only then would go no more then £4.5K -
Would some knowledgeable member please confirm that this correct on a FL

Underbonnet sound insulation
ramonford replied to El Dingo's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Endorse all the above plus when you lift the lid it makes the engine bay well finished rather then some thing that's been forgotten. Its the first thing most people will notice when its not there. Also when you drop the bonnet down is doesn't sound like like an old tin can, but some thing more sophisticated and precision built. Well worth going for in my opinion -
This reply would seem to imply that any domestic/house wired more than 10 years ago is in need of rewiring. However, it might be true in one particular case but it is most certainly not the general one. Most domestic electrical installations within the last 30 years will have been wired with an earth lead incorporated within the lighting distribution. The most reliable and easiest way to determine the condition of any domestic system is to use a high voltage megger and measure the insulation resistance between all the conductors The best advise for any installation without an earth wire would be to install an RCD at the meter board and as close as possible to the main distribution fuse box. This does not however replace the best protection which would be obtained by the installation of an earth wired distribution backed up by an MCB/RCD board. This should only be regarded as short term, until such time as any system recording low insulation resistance, or having no earth wiring, must for safety be upgraded.
