  1. If I got a train ticket with virgin trains it would be a bit strange to expect virgin Atlantic airline to sort out any problems I had but that seems to be what you are expecting
  2. I really don't think you can blame skoda for saying not our problem when they are presented with a 10 year old car with a major issue that wasn't of their doing and quite frankly if you really needed the car back and fixed your issue was with the garage that did the work and allowing it to be passed to a skoda dealer on the very remote chance they would swallow the repair was wishful thinking in the extreme.
  3. If its only an advisory on mot I would be tempted to clean it all up as best I could and keep an eye on the situation. I see no benefit taking a nine year old car to a dealer for regular servicing they will always find issues.
  4. What engine? Petrol ? diesel ? what mileage ? you need to give more information or your question is unanswerable.
  5. the mdf if it is telling you you are only getting 36.1 mpg, torsion values above my pay grade I'm afraid
  6. Hi as above the mark may well line back up but there is no way to be absolutely sure the work was done, you need to find a garage you do trust to carry out work. What do you mean the oil doesnt seem fresh? colour ?
  7. Sounds reasonable miles on a tank full without knowing what sort of driving it was doing , if the car was only doing 36.1 mpg you would need to put 15 gallons ( 68 litres ) to do the mileage which is more than car could hold so this number must be a fair bit short of reality.
  8. It is but there is a big difference for 400 quid to replace a broken injector and 1200 to replace perfectly good ones.
  9. At what £400 roughly each it would be expensive to change 3 injectors that were working fine.
  10. Right in my 1.9 pd i get between 500 and 600 but what anyone else gets is going to have very little relevance to what you will get way too many variables . The biggest difference on mpg is the nut holding the steering wheel.
  11. I thought alot of timing belt failures were tensioner related rather than the timing belt directly. If I were in the ops position with a car that has just passed mot but needs improving I may ignore cambelt on the understanding if it went bang I didnt have a great deal of capital in the car anyway.
  12. Hi what makes you think your car may need a rebore ? have you had a compression test done ? I would do the simple things 1st, say a bottle of injector cleaner and then an Italian tune up see if that makes any difference.
  13. It is mad that I can drive a 53 year old car in London with no ulez charge and high by modern standard emissions
  14. we have a 10 year old tdi and it has had no major issues but with ulez in London and who knows when in other major conurbations I have found myself idly looking at replacements 1.4 petrol Seat leons have been catching my eye
  15. Agree with above the conrod problem can happen but as a percent of all bxe engines it is pretty small. Most of the ones I have seen reported had very high mileage and scant service history. A pd engine with good history at 100k miles would be a reasonable risk to take.
  16. Hi I had a strange issue with indicators flashing fast and staying on I was advised to disconnect battery for half an hour and see if this cleared the problem which it did. I think disconnecting the battery makes the cars brain reset. It cost nothing so worth a try to see if it sorts your issue
  17. try disconnecting the battery and leaving it for 30 mins see if that makes any difference. I had an odd indicator fault once and this made it go away.
  18. Unless money was very very tight I would want to change both springs at the same time, unless the other one is nearly new its self. Having one old and one new spring isnt going to do the handling any favours.
  19. The good garage scheme is another place to check for a workshop
  20. my local vag independent turned mine off permanently via his laptop for 20 quid.
  21. You say it started after a service I know coincidence happens but I would check to see if everything was put back as it should have been.
  22. The wheel bearing on my car was audible for about 6 months before I got it changed it was an advisory ( minor) on the cars mot so I had it changed at the next service.
  23. It was about £470 all in, if I were you I would be looking in to finding another garage it does seem you are paying a high price for your work currently.
  24. I have put my bill away already but you need to add on the cost of the oil and the various filters so the total cost was higher than you have come to.
