Either battery is dying, or some environmental conditions are not met to allow stop/start to function. Can you expand on exactly what you was doing when this showed up... was you driving, just started the engine etc
  2. Perfect, it is where I thought it would be, but here is image of locatation, bottom of the oil pan sump
  3. Sounds like you have a bunch of wiring shorting out to ground, and a relay(?) stuck open at one point for the wipers. Might be an idea to locate someone with VCDS to scan the car for fault codes to maybe narrow things down.
  4. You need to get the part number as you said you could get it easily, so VIN decoded or you need to visit the part location and clean up the top to view. The actual brand fitted will be a lottery as mentioned by others.
  5. Already posted about the possibility of having to reset, just not the instructions (which will help others)
  6. Engine number 3/4 letters and a few numbers CUSA12345
  7. Look on your V5 document, and report back the engine code.
  8. Granted they are fugly as anything. Thankfully AGM's are quite tough, just probably yours might not last as long, but they happily prove us wrong all the time. You do some long journeys, so I suspect yours will be healthy as a horse.
  9. Maybe you can chop the existing one and have the battery side that faces the engine fully covered, and the gap away from the engine side? If you do decide to fit the correct size felt, this is part number for my Octavia 096 size 5Q0 915 411 H, no doubt found on the many auction sites.
  10. Hopefully not an AGM, as they need that felt (fibreglass) surround as AGM's don't like heat and it shortens the lifespan. I like the look of a hard plastic case mind you, just beware of the battery type fitted.
  11. It might be the actual switch is kaput, so no matter which you set it to now, it no longer works (I guess it spent 6 years on max setting?) Also, just checking that you have looked at the Brown 25Amp bottom left, 3rd across, just to make sure that we are seeing the same is all. This is for blower motor. Question, I see you are talking about rear window heater, also a 25Amp fuse, just wondering if that is working now?
  12. It's what I was getting worried about when you suggested 096 size, as I was not sure if the OP's shroud would be able to cover the new size. I guess worse case scenario would be to change this, as you say probably already exists a post somewhere. 🤝
  13. Does the plastic tray that surrounds the OP's battery expand (it looks like it has some room to slide open bigger?)
  14. Nope, VAG do not give release notes, all that exists will be a TPI document (Technical Product Information) that will say this is for customer complaint XYZ (rebooting/freezing/etc) You have to read between the lines, but the most basic answer is bug fixes (but no details provided)
  15. Yes that has the markings of an orignal battery. These are the direct drop in size for your car (as you have a shroud around the outside it appears) https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/types/027/ You have currently a 60Ah and 480CCA rating, you will want to make sure you exceed both values or match. There is a Varta D24 a 60Ah with 540CCA that I would fit as minimum Then you have a Varta D15 a 63Ah with 610CCA, as you can see it has more power You have also the Bosch S5 005 made in the same factory as Varta (out of stock on Tanya)
  16. Implication is that if you charge up the battery for 24hrs minimum that it will then clear off any sulphation and allow the battery to store more energy. That is what I suspect he means. Your original, and the new replacment code, if I look at the new code, the image is of a Varta battery also, it is what I have fitted to my own car from factory (lasted over 7 years, and I changed it early) Tanya is one of the most recommended suppliers on the forum for year, and when I was search, it was one of the cheapest. This is the list of all they supply for 096AGM size https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/types/096-agm/ This link is the one I have brought, and fitted to my car https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/varta/e39/ Have a read of this thread here about "Adopting" a battery, in theory you can probably get away with not doing this, though I would recommend you try to find someone local with VCDS and get this done. You can take your old battery to Halfords to dispose of for free, or find someone that might give you a few quid for the scrap value.
  17. That's the battery it left the factory with, was 68Ah, now replaced by 70Ah due to advances. Will reply in about 15mins.
  18. If you don't have 4x4, then odds are this is the part number for the pump & float 1K0 919 050 AB I cannot confirm that 100%, but odds are as I say that it is, ideally you need to look for that number printed on existing fuel tank pump. The actual OEM choice can vary, https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/1k0919050ab Not sure which is fitted at factory from the above link (as OEM supplier, and could be more than one) Recommend you confirm the part number fitted, and then look on eBay to see if you can locate the OEM brand from some listings. Unless someone can state they fit brand XYZ. EDIT: Possible Siemen's VDO https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403937908643 if you take a look at one of the pictures and zoom in.
  19. Take a picture of what's fitted.
  20. Yes in about 5 minutes you will have file
  21. https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskmark/ I am sure we could test, but need a few runs to get evened out results
  22. The tl;dr is that exFAT with 16K cluster size gives you the most free space available for map storage. As you can see from the same card formatted with NTFS/FAT32/exFAT, the NTFS has the least free space, and exFAT has the most free space for maps. Some images to show the space used/free on same card
  23. Most likely in NTFS format, this has a larger overhead of data for the "database" of files stored in the NTFS structure. FAT32 on the same sized card will have more free space available to use, again down to the "database" of files stored being smaller.
  24. There is no "update on this" You yourself will need to get out a multimeter and check Voltage after it's sat overnight and post up your findings. I replaced my 2015 original AGM battery as it was starting to get "lazy" but I never left it until it fully died, as I didn't want to be stranded. I could have gotten another 2-4 years out if it, the lifespan varies depending on too many factors to list... If you don't have a multimeter, you could try a garage that has a drop tester or somewhere than can print out the CCA rating of the battery now.
  25. In a few minutes you will have link via PM
