  1. Thanks for that @MartiniB I am downloading now. Fingers crossed!
  2. I got the same message for mine. Maybe the portal is down.
  3. I have a Columbus but on the VW site there is one for Passats from 2014 and one from 2017. As mine is a 2016 SEL maybe I should be downloading the one for cars from 2014?
  4. No it's a PC. I wonder if it's the right download for my car. I looked on the VW website and there are ones for earlier systems.
  5. I downloaded the 2019/20 file and extracted it. I have mib1,mib2 and metainfo2. The car cannot find the update. Am I doing something wrong?
  6. My son used Autoglym scratch remover. https://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/autoglym/scratch-removal-kit.aspx He had a lease car that had a long scratch down the side. I was impressed with the result he got and I used it on a small scratch I had on my car and it almost removed it completely. You have to really look to see anything. It's worth the £19 it cost as that's peanuts against a professional repair, it may save you a fortune.
  7. Thanks for that information, I'll try again later.
  8. As my car is the years old at the end of October I thought I would get a last update of the map. Seems I am too late as it says there are no updates and I should contact my service department. It looks like the three years runs from when the car is built rather than sold.
  9. You don't have to do a long journey. The update will pick up where it left off when you stopped.
  10. This diagnostic lark is getting silly. Not long ago the service tech would come out to the car with you and say, yes it's broken. How can that cost £132?
  11. I hope that's just the remains of polish behind the back door.
  12. Maybe you won't ruin the engine but if anything else goes wrong (and there are plenty of things that can) and they spot the remap that will be the end of your warranty.
  13. Mine appears on that screen, wish it didn't as it's a total load of b******s
  14. I can't hear you, can you speak a bit louder?
  15. I would never let a parking company have my keys.
  16. You just don't get it do you? Rotate the tyres, put £200 in an interest bearing account then when all the tyres are worn out you take out the £200, add £200 and keep the interest you gained on the first £200.
  17. I knew someone would say this. What is the difference between paying for two tyres now and two tyres later or four tyres later?
  18. I swapped mine round. Simply because I want to change brands and I don't want different makes on the front and back.
  19. No I just cannot turn it on. The navigation sound works fine. Funnily enough when I picked the car up today the on/off button on the wheel is working again! There's obviously something wrong with it somewhere as they wouldn't be replacing it otherwise.
  20. The garage has just phoned me and I need all the controls on the steering wheel replaced. It will be done under warranty but they can't get the bits until next Tuesday so it will have to go in again.
  21. My radio has died again. This happened earlier in the car's life and then it was only happening sporadically. They had it in and gave it a software upgrade. I thought at the time that it possibly had just randomly started working again and sure enough it has stopped and started on a few more occasions but not enough to take it in. Now it has died completely. The garage now charges £12 a day for a courtesy car, maybe they should drop the word courtesy? The also said there was a £153 investigation charge that would be waived if it was a warranty job, I thought what do you mean if, how could it be anything else?
  22. You have to put the wiper in the first up position to make auto wiper work.
