Superb S3 Winter wheels, which ones to pick ;)
I used a caffyns for volvo parts and they arrived the following day... pre covid mind. I'm surprised by a few other skoda 'parts' suppliers, dropped emails and not heard back. Time and services change. https://seat-skoda.caffynsparts.co.uk/parts/category/skoda-parts/skoda-superb-iii/sport-and-design-skoda-superb-iii/

EASYLIFE MOTOR CLUB JOIN UP SCAM?
Thanks for raising @bobspark Contact your bank, cancel the DD. They should help you with a good explanation. I personally use one card for online, that's linked to a mobile app. I get a mobile notification as soon as anything touches it. Anyone forcing me to use bank/direct debits who I don't know. I walk away from, I suspect you may do too now. I've also moved this to a different forum so it can be seen by more eyes.

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
Well all things need proper medical advice... I guess if you're carrying a few 'paid for' pounds already then, take that into consideration. We don't want to overwhelm joints and stuff. Everything in moderation as I always forget when cake is on the table... I think the idea of rucking is to add some extra load/tension to your routine, without pushing you to run. I can get my heart up to 120/140 without running, I don't want much more. I'm also seeing a cardiologist who's trying to figure something out for me... so I'm cautious to go beyond what I know, although did the other week hit 180 which when I got home was quite relieved to see I was still here. I stopped at 16kg, 8 bottles. Beyond that it felt like it hurt, and I ran out of space in my rucsac. I began with 2x2L bottles of water for 4kg, then 2 loops I know I can walk.. then add another bottle, 2 more loops etc so over a week up to 5 bottles and so on... I like water, because: a: I can stop and drink it. b: I could pour it all away if I began to suffer too much/pain flared up.

Take heed Skoda
Thanks @PetrolDave I do find the touchscreen stuff confusing... like driving along I want to turn the volume down... I know it's on the steering wheel. What can I say 30+years of habits take a while to retrain @Yetiherts I forgot earlier, I tested a MKIII octavia with lane control etc etc... of course I didn't read the manual. I thought it was fairly useless as it kept turning off. Only after getting home and reading the book, it detected a lack of hands on the wheel, I was hovering just above. So it turns the system off, or did. Until someone says something is fully automatic, partial automation is a high risk. Hard enough switching between manual and auto cars atm

Track brake pad options for mk3 Octavia VRS
Not a MKIII experience, but we used to use DS2500's, they maybe old school now too. They will still go hot and dust/cake the heck out of your wheels. The new fluid will probably be enough for the first day, 20mins on /30 off etc. Of course this is where you say you and he used to race karts as a kid As you'll be driving it home, I always found I coasted a bit on the straights, let other faster, purposeful stuff past then get ready for the corner to make it about as right as I can. I found standing on the anchors great fun a few times... anyway, fluid yes yes and yes. Remove all the loose stuff too, including from the boot. Enjoy it, I think you will

Update: Wheels and tyres being combined
All, I've been watching the wheel and tyre forums for a while. Not to mention other forums where wheel or tyre talk appears. Wheel talk is 1/9th of tyres. In a bid to simply forum navigation and management, I'm going to roll wheels and tyres into one... my creative spirit died a few hours back, so it will be called wheels & tyres. You can't really use one without the other anyway, unless your in a cross fit studio, or scrap heap challenge. As always, any thoughts, just say.

Experiment: Cycling Club extended to include other topics for health and wellbeing
After considering where to put a heath/wellness subforum, I opted to extend the cycling club. Partly as a lot of health benefits can be gained from cycling. Renamed the forum to health hub, so keeping one finger on a cycling/car word play as per other subforums. The other option which is a bit more drastic, is to enable a feature in the forums called clubs, which kind of hides the content away in clubs... but would make fewer sub forum categories... I opted for the above first though. Any thoughts or comments, please do, as ever, just say.... right off to upset the wheel and tyre wagon cart.

Superb S3 Winter wheels, which ones to pick ;)
I've only reached up to the alloy option as I don't think they make 18" steel. I think a 17" will fit on the 272, bigger discs than a normal superb. I have the 18" winter tyres, just need to pair them to a wheel, or start a fresh on a set of 17's. The second is going to be far easier to clean I think, well at least once a year...

DTUK tuning box for Vrs
Umm interesting then.. with all bar one remap, well actually, all remaps I've noticed a difference. One of note though, on the way back from having my gratis custom (4hrs ) map done. I had to stop of at the last workshop that mapped the car ( she was a bit of a test bed ) and got them to reset the ecu, the gratis custom one was dire. So not all remaps are positive outcomes either. I'd of thought the tuning box was similar, as in a noticeable uplift, I guess you could take it off for a trip...

DTUK tuning box for Vrs
Whilst close it has one advantage, it can be removed. Welcome to the community. A good tuning box is well worth it over a cheap one, just as a custom map over a generic one is also good. That said, of the past cars I've had of VAG, three I've remapped. I'm toying with my current one to go for a tuning box, mostly down to warranty. If it was beyond 3years, then I'd go for a remap again; maybe.

Take heed Skoda
@Yetiherts there was an article on the bbc about tesla in germany, ruling the use of the screen was akin to a mobile. 3 screen hops or something to change the speed of the wipers in rain. Would you mind attributing the source of that article? I can edit the post for you. TY. I've also moved it, as it's not totally scala specific

So it’s goodbye.....for now
@Plymnick See you soon. It's always interesting to see damage though. You can think what if I or someone was in that side etc. Such a shame though as that looked a lovely motor.

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
Forgot to mention, look up 'rucking'. In short, walking with weight. It's almost as good as running for cardio/cal burn, without the impact, but obviously not as quick. Start of with up to 10% of your body weight in a backpack. Do the same route with the weight on, a couple of times, then without. SWMBO and our little 5km walk around the block, I'm up to 20% and I do know I've done the walk Not forgetting some cooldown stretches for your calves, quads, hams, shoulders, triceps etc.

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
Good call. I could never really run, not without it seeming like a lot of effort. I switched to 'minimal' shoes about three years ago, mostly for the idea of strengthening my feet for climbing. I found I could run, and easily. Turns out the big spongy trainers were encouraging me to heel strike, which is common wearing big clumpy mountain boots. A friend, sadly passed, was an amazing fell runner; bob grahams and all sorts... He bounced everywhere, ran on his toes, actually to the point he could'nt really land on his heel even walking. Calfs like popeye. That was my dawning moment. Try it in the garden or park. Run 30m in shoes... take shoes off, run back 30m, then run back the other 30 to collect shoes. By the last bit your brain should of got you off your heels. Got up to 10k ok, then stopped as I didn't want too much leg mass... mass, gravity all bad for climbing. 29.12.19 I went to far walking and hurt my leg. Still recovering and it f'ing knacks still when I tweak it. I'll add my own topic, as the plan I have for tomorrow involves 80squats and 400step up's and I'm only in day 4....it's brutal, but oddly working. Good idea Lee. Will squeeze it onto my list for tomorrow. Big day... big changes, although hopefully unseen by many, but enjoyed by many. I also found the couch to 5k app very handy, to get going at least.

Offsetting BRISKODA's environmental impact, or planting trees for posts
Thank you to the two mystery planters In the shop is a good idea... except, any transaction I take, has a cost, which I would then need to take or top up on the other side. That is I would not seek to profit from this. However a tree package might appear Like a gold to a bronze and silver. In that sense I don't mind covering the transactions costs, it's only pennies. Got a full day tomorrow, but will see... full if I don't get a good wind behind me on the updates/changes I need to do. Add MaximusPeddalousGufforia to the swear filter But so far, wow... as always, impressed by the generosity & support of our community members, even in these tough times.

What do you Love/Hate about your Kodiaq?
Approved, although I personally felt a little uncomfortable watching it as you seem to be looking over at the camera far more than the road.

Offsetting BRISKODA's environmental impact, or planting trees for posts
So I've added a new profile field. It's a bit tricky, so I'll do manually per planting cycle. You can't edit it, only I can. You'll see it under your profile and along side content you post: Ecologi: My Trees. I might alter it slightly during the day. It will open your trees in a new window. What I may alter it to is a link to a page with people on, which will also link to your trees. See, if, you brought more next week, you'd have two... three and so on. So a page showing planters, and then maybe a link, might be easier. But that's a future problem.

Please welcome me and tell me I'm cool
Good luck on the 1.4... had to think about that for a moment, on a go car, on an orthello car... got it in the end Don't get old. I see you've found a few topics to post in, so a belated welcome to the community.

Offsetting BRISKODA's environmental impact, or planting trees for posts
Yes. I'll do this today. I was chatting with their founder about a few things, partly to make this sort of thing easier. I'll do it one of two ways, I either manually do it, or you can add a link to your trees, each planting has it's own url, eg. https://ecologi.com/briskoda?tree=5f11e3f363ccdd0018d9bef8 is @Rustynuts However some trees will be anonymous, which I suspect is what happened with @Robjon and a couple of others e.g. https://ecologi.com/briskoda?tree=5f12c6d7f13cb80017343247

2.0 TSI GPF Stage 1 & DQ381 Stage 2+
Aye.. some good old tension fun... They do sound better than the current gen too Although I suspect they used a very good microphone and some effects, having never been to a real nascar race. I'd prefer to watch Ronin; crikey 1998! Mainly as my old man had a top de la top XM and I'm pretty sure it couldn't do a tenth of what they did with it. When I used to have my old stereo/sub setup, there is one scene that threatened any loose crockery on that side of the room. Just watch the film, not the trailer, it's full of good old spoilers. Thankfully I don't have a car that sounds like that; nascar 51, when I start it up. I think that definitely passes with age. I would not mind a little more of a signature, or something, if only to give my aging brain a clue about what's going on. Nothing is a waste @Roscio if it's making you happy. We're here for precious little time, you never know what is around the corner. I've lost indestructible friends, one I missed his call and when I called him back he was already gone. Live your life, there is no dress rehearsal. But yes, it's all a total waste, a 10year old car for a grand is probably the most economic.... but you can't drop the hammer ( too many times )

Rear arb / sway bar upgrade
Just for reference of course... Contacted CLP; also a local, for my 272. Since it's my birthday soon and I've done no driving, seems I have spare cash in my fuel card pot Just have to wait till september when our shielding period is 95% done... £260 all in for the H&R 25mm.

Canton Sound System
Similar thoughts Kinyscat. It does take a while. I think it also depends on what you listen to. There is a sound optimisation, for my head, driver, sounds best, but some days, tune dependent, front bias. A good excuse to find a quiet place and try it out.
