  1. As per the we're 18 topic, I've added 180 tonnes of co2 offset to the pot. This I believe makes the community provision, servers, backups, driving etc carbon negative over the 18years we've been running it... I beleive that and as per previous posts will continue to operate on an offset more than we use to keep the trend going. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjrXXjQ6UDM
  2. All, TL;DR Black friday discounts code at bottom. A little over 18years ago an idea formed and so it began. Now 18years is quite a good run... For anyone in the dark, briskoda, turned 18years this year Over the years we seen thousands of members post, read, learn, share. Over all models in the range, united by a common theme, if not always in agreement. Each month now we see millions of visitors, reading the rich trove of knowledge we have here. The community has grown, shunk, grown, and will always eb and flow, much like a river as it finds it's way through the countryside. The rise of social media was, and remains a concern. Many of us believe the forum approach offers more than the immediate here today, gone tomorrow of social media. But we do need you're help to keep it thriving. Post, share, spread the word, every action helps. Talking of action, climate action. Earlier this year I set about covering our ongoing carbon impact. The internet is a huge contributor to the problem, more so than driving this year We've been cabron neutral/negative for the services we host upon and consume for a few months now. I wanted to do more, carbon negative overall? This milestone seemed like a good point to do it. Looking back, it's almost impossible to say how much we've used to provide the community; we don't have a totally accurate record of trips to data centre x or y, so it's the best of british fag packet maths... I've taken what we use today, <1/2 tonne per month, still quite a bit eh? Then multiplied it back over time, then added a bit on; quite a bit on, because all those odd days here there, older it equipment was more power hungry and so on adds up... In numbers we might comprehend, it's around 250'000 miles. To that end I've offset an addititional 180tonnes of CO2 to cover our earlier years, that's 10tonnes per year, and includes some slack for driving to x and y, my laptop being on doing updates to the site at 3 or 4am the odd night... Going forward we'll be covering our continued use, so continuing to be negative, along with the tree planting programme. You can find out more about all this here: I'd like to thank the current team of admins, mods for doing what they do. I'd liek to thank former members of the volunteer force over the last 18years for doing there bit to bring us to where we are today. Thank you to all t hose who through freedom part with your own hard earned cash to support what we do here. Of course all that we do, would be for nothing without you, the community member. I thank you too, for your time, the dedication by many to sharing info and the helping others. Thank you all for being a part of, and in making this community. It's yours, you made it, each post, thread added a leaf to briskoda's tree of life. To think we've seen marriages, babies, life altering advice and support, and so much more, all from connections, people, through these few pages. Quite humbling, thank you. So it's 18years, time for a party? Heck yes. One small pandemic problem in the way. I'm begining to come up with a few ideas for next year, shows, trackday etc where we can get together in one way or another. We've all got many bridges and challenges to cross before then, so stay safe and keep in touch. In lieu of a party, I decided to make some space in the storage. So a 50% off stickers voucher code, and other stuff to clear from the shop. I guess you could say it's a black friday event... https://www.briskoda.net/forums/store/category/3-merchandise/ Discount on stickers other merchandise of 50% - code: 18years Old models t-shirts discoverd in a box - £5 ea to clear. Freedom, great value as ever from £6 per year.
  3. I also chopped a few trees down in the garden this month and there are 3 more to go :( I'm not counting the 5yard skip full of leylandi weed from one trim... why I didn't grub it all out when we moved in I'll never know....
  4. I forgot to do Octobers tree update in october, so I've just done it now. https://ecologi.com/briskoda?tree=5fc13a725b6349001c70f4cc Another 2tonnes of Co2 offset, we use <1/2 a tonne, and trees, again I've rounded up to 100 trees. Thanks to all joining, renewing freedom and purchasing stickers. Thanks also to those adding to our little forest inbetween. Get in touch if you want your trees in your profile
  5. erm I do I care what everyone posts and how they post. No one is anyones senior by any measure. Oh except me... hehe, I alwys forget that in my utopian dream for a forum... There are many thoughts for what I read when you've typed. This is as close to me revealing them as you'll get, because: We want to make BRISKODA as enjoyable as possible for the majority of our members. Yet with thousands reading and hundreds posting every day, we of course need rules to help keep the place running smoothly and protect our broad range of users. So here are a few key pointers to take into account when using the forums. We have also adopted some simple posting guidelines to help you. Summary: Be kind and respectful to each other. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/guidelines/ So please be a good fella and you know, don't be that guy ;)
  6. This wasn't a thread for exercise bike stats. It was a thread to give feedback on the OP's comments. To achieve a thusand calories burn, thats on my watch a 17km walk with 500+m of ascent and descent over 3hours, and thats only 665. We used to sell those old exercise bikes... To be honest, ferris buler, some blocks, a gto and a power drill on the gaugue sprang tio mind.
  7. A while away from knowing what options exist. but I’d like to yes. all depends on options. I’d like to stand the cost of it too... since we didn’t have anything this year, or last :(
  8. A couple from the lovely Peak District.

News: Our club stand ( pending approval ) will be net free to display on. I'd like to get a mix of vehicles from all ages. There is no restriction and a new one next to an old one is a fine contrast. See below for more details on the 'free stand offer'

First thought watching the interior videos of these newer designs... there's a bit of peugeot leaking through the bank of buttons mostly. I did sit in one of these for an hour to soak it all up. Very tempted I was.

I'd be quite tempted once the range with stuff on; wipers, ac, heaters, is 300+ It's not uncommon for me to head from home in sheffield, to say Ilfracombe, with a few toilet stops, 281miles, but no specific long hour stop. Now I could easily bake two 30min stops in. Heading to scotland, via perth thats 400+ for fort william. Once past the Lake district the driving is easy but hilly. I normally bake a stop in on the a66 and again around perth, both I think I could do with this ev. But could I do it with all the essentials, and maybe the radio on too? That I'm not so sure about. And I know I'd have fun getting to Orkney and back. Ultimately as I've learnt from the above tv show, it's about changing habits, expectations, making more of the journey than the destination. If it wasn't for covid and a few other problems, I've got a 'video' tour planned for the enyaq if skoda press lent us one. And it's mostly based in scotland Where now, I'll need the wipers, ac and radio

Watch a long way up, Harley EV A few points to note, they have a diesel generator on a flatbed following them around; just in case. It's certainly an insight into the reality of EV, compared to previous seasons, the conversation is quite obviously about range...

Welcome. I think you'll enjoy the bootspace and fuel saving. Way back when ... like 18+years ago. We used to have a drive out over some moors, some good roads. Us in our octavias 1.8t 150 4x4's remapped to 180ish... Anyhow we used to go out with various subaru's and lancers... given we were not 'on a closed rallye stage' we kept up... until the long straight bits. This was because our turbos, being small, kicked in before the big turbos, so we were already 'on it' while they were kind of waiting... and of course being moorland roads, they were never straight for long. I'm totally not suggesting anything else, other than, in real life, within real limits You're having fun Maybe not quite as much as you used to have in the wrx on a damp morning, but fun none the less fun, so welcome. MKIII I think from 2014, so here's a great place to start https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/235-skoda-octavia-mk-iii-2013-onward/
  14. I think there are plenty of darker places the whole VAG key/kessy, security model is well discussed and understood. Afterall the key on a kodiaq is likely the same circut board as your RS whatever.
  15. moved to the kodiaq forum. I didn't think modern cars; maybe only kessy, it was possible to lock with keys inside?
  16. Super, no longer the 272 it was.
  17. Added to my Friday todo list
  18. Yep used the citigo in full winters, not studs. Around the peak and trips up to Scotland in winter. i think I felt safer in it than previous octavias. certainly in a recent rain storm it would of handles rain better than the big superb on its wide tyres. something about skinny winter tyres just works. They sort of stayed in the car, through summer. Made some corners fun, but those really rainy storm days, I felt very happy hitting water. winter pros cons however, the Citigo lights were poor For hazard spotting afar, so updated bulbs. And rear drums had a sticky tendency, maybe from salt & heat, who knows, so frequently parked without handbrake on the gearbox in winter. another plus is it’s small, so it heats up quickly, and it’s a small area to defrost, so your fingers will love you. Any car, almost any driver , I’d bet would be in a pickle when you hit ice or black ice. One small plus with the citigo, you’ll be going somewhat slower than a 280hp superb 4x4... I do miss the citigo. oh and I was told by a tyre company exec, the tyre labels for efficiency, noise rain, yeah what we maybe compare tyres on....no validation required. So a manf can claim a, but it might be c. That may of changed in the last six odd years, but take everything with a pinch of salt. And tyres change , kings rise and fall. think it was my roomster I had great fun in heavy snow on a motorway driving around folk, and the little toy Ld discovery following me eventually gave up. problem I always found though, eventually you come to a point you can’t carry on as road is blocked. So eventually learnt not to go out unless I had too Any good winter tyre if you expect snow more than once is worth it. That and a sleeping bag, water bottle
  19. I'd be exploring the option of returning the car. Not sure exactly what rights you have locally/ eu etc. Talk to a local specialist. Explore the option even if you have faith they will resolve. Good luck
  20. Watch this on netflix: Rust Bro's http://www.rustbrosrestos.com/ Flight to Canada and shipping/import still be cheaper than some in the UK
  21. Sorry @FUBAR, going to mess your nice number up with a further 64 trees for freedom and 9 for stickers, so a total of 73 trees, which I'll round up. > https://ecologi.com/briskoda?tree=5f772b16a53e890018f36e0e Another 2 tonnes, ample again. When I said Sept, I meant Oct as that's the sites birthday. So before the 22nd. Will be a fun number to play with and I'll have to do a last minute change to keep OCD ODO tree's in check
  22. Oh and I note rocket! Years ago when they began, I ordered a test winter jacket, think colour options were rocket or black. They didn't have colour swatches on the pages and these were cheap... So I went for rocket. Imagine my horror when the green jacket arrived and not the rocket red one. SWMBO pointed out rocket is green... to this day, which is like 8years ago, rocket is still red to me. If I don't lead the audience, a large number of males over 45 also say red. Healthly youthful ones do tend to say green, but rockets are red, and rocket yes, is green :(
  23. Arh the dreaded mirror shot Hey at least you remembered to wear your kegs. Glad they fit and you approve. I'd missed that they had a thigh pocket, that is indeed handy, I tuck my phone... well it works for me No I have a little bag which to be honest I hate with a passion. I'd toyed with one of these wrap/cummerband things. I tried the arm sleeve things and the wires just snag on brush, I have a common behind me and I like the lesser trails as they are roots and earth over tarmac. I've also got to get a top as I've lost my quite old mountain hardware base to SWMBO. I also use flat, or zero drop shoes like these from freet: https://freetbarefoot.com/product/freet-respond/ For me, as mentioned before they got me off the couch and running didn't feel as hard, yes a bit more painful on gravel but once moving, ok. I have a pair of normal runners too for when I'm going on the fells as they aren't for running then, just light grip over boots.
  24. Welcome, Excellent, a big step up , big box ticked, time to go out What's the failing of the qashqai?
