  1. Welcome, memories indeed right colour for the best of them, although I never owned a Pug 205Gti
  2. There was a thing on theolder mkI where windows would open, can't for the life of me recall what it is. I've moved the topic to octavia II for a better chance a current mkII owner knows. There used to be a reset, if you hold the unlock; I think, button down, all windows will drop, hold that till fully open, then the lock button to raise them... I think thats the sequence. Handy for returning to a hot car
  3. Sorry, fit on all kit, erm it depends 🤪 if your right on the border, call them up, I’d go for the look your after, shrink wrapped or shabby sheek. Can’t recall if it’s free returns. One hot wash and it all shrinks right 😱
  4. Sorry, just noticed it was sold elsewhere, honestly I need a new head. Anyhow there are out there
  5. I'd have a look at this one: I thought about VC for a good bit too... When I got mine I was also very torn over DCC or not, and canton was a, well radio 4 sounds great with it Buying today, I'd be happy without VC and without canton. dcc, swmbo insists on puke mode; comfort, but she's getting happier that I'll tap it into spot drive for short stints If I didn't have it, I'd be, ok with the normal ride. It's not like it magically changes the laws of physics, it's a big car and well what goes up, must come down. The one other feature I got it for was the radar cruise which I use a lot. Even if on an a road with nothing in front. The next level L&K had the lane control and traffic blah.. which I didn't think I was fussed by... I might be, a little tempted. But I think I prefer the sportline, it is a lower stance yes, by a few mm, maybe 15 iirc, someone can fact check me The smart lights, maybe, if only for the scary roads of scotland, I'm part moth I think I always look at the lights on coming and lose the kerb. Of course all these nice to haves add up; quickly. I had an ex skoda car a few back and it was fine, a good price iirc.
  6. If only you knew the future... last aug I brought the superb, she's not done much. Then in Oct we had a bit of a life changing medical thing going on... spin forward to today and a camper van is very much on the cards for flying isn't; not covid related. So iceland by boat from denmark etc. But that leaves me somewhat in a pickle on the superb as it's sort of useless in the sense it won't be doing those trips. So my mind wandered to ev, partly as there is still an incentive and for local trips <70miles it kind of makes sense. Then I found out the ev grants had been cut... Then I found out ev van grants are 8k Given it would just have a dog, bik, or climbing kit in the boot, I thought small ev van... job done. Except there's hardly any and the one I saw locally the nissan, has like a 140 mile range. Which is still ok, but not in comparison to the likes of the corsa/leaf. Certainly an interesting game of mental chess I'm playing Heading north I'd have to say I'd be happier on petrol/diesel, thinking those day trips from fort william to skye or go up the west coast to egol and beyond. Really can't work out why none is doing the hybrid as the engine being a mobile genny.
  7. I picked up a sunnto spartan ultra for less than half price last year in black friday deals. I replaced the chest band tracker with a wahoo forearm. In a way I'd prefer a wrist sensor on the watch, but it's already a beast. And if I'm out in rain, using the route/gps, I wear it over my jacket cuff... The trade of like now, sat on my desk bike is I'm turning, but not logging. I did 30km yesterday morning admin session, for 300cal's apparently according to the onboard lcd. It didn't feel like either. Under armour is like audi is to skoda... it's overpriced. checkout: https://alpkit.com/collections/mens-legwear/products/koulin-trail-tights-mens && https://alpkit.com/collections/mens-merino-clothing for the chilly days.
  8. A huge thanks to 45 people this month newly signing up or renewing both freedom lite and freedom. We've added a further 100 trees to our efforts. I'm settling down on 1 tree per freedom lite, and two per freedom. Then rounding up, because the planet could use a little help and not all trees will make it Remember this is coming out of the pot from advertisers; which you'll also not see anymore of, so less data on your phone, power win, win, and a win. Co2 wise, the server is still putting out a paltry amount in the grand scheme of things. So a 2 tonne offset is still more than covering us this month. I'll be making the contribution later in Sept ( Oct 2020 is 18years since launch of site ) that should make us carbon negative from a server/technology position. It's rough, I can't tell you how long I had my laptop or desktop on for in the last 18years... so I'm going for safe rounding, assuming 24hrs a day. It's been a fun mental game. I've also been wracking my mind as to trips I've done just for briskoda, like driving to milton keynes to meet skoda marketing reps and talk about mumsnet. I've also decided to back fill orders on the basis of 1 tree per order, which is more than I'm doing at the moment. Again, we're trying to be negative, not neutral and overkill is underrated, right? So, in a few weeks I'll be dropping a lot more trees and carbon offsets
  9. The only time I’ve handled wheel nuts that hot was after a track day in an old bmw... there was an odd knocking as we left the circuit to get fuel. I climbed out of the cage, noticed a wheel bolt, thought, oh that’s dangerous best move it... hot... found two more. An amusing aside, but that much heat, something is binding. Edit, it’s with them now, trust, but don’t accept it back if it’s not right. To hot to handle after 1km is not right at all... unless it was down an alpine pass. fingers crossed for you. Stay safe.
  10. That is a good idea... I'd been wary about 2nd hand wheels but I guess so long as they are round Does not even matter if they have chunks missing already... pre worn in
  11. I've had a 4x4 with transmission shake under acceleration. It's a much lower vibration, more like a massage chair on an unpleasant setting. Not visible as such. Putting the worst case on the table, do you have an option to reject the vehicle? Ask the garage to do a full inspection of the suspension. It could be as bad as shy suggests. I've certainly not seen or experienced in any of the superbs I've been in or tested. You mentioned you tried another similar, and had similar effects... that would make me wary of assuming the worst case; ie repaired badly, on your vehicle, unless both were badly repaired. Tyres are just the start, work up from there, I've had wobbles induced from busted cv seals, broken springs... basically anything that moves, or shouldn't move I keep coming back to that second test car doing the same is making me wary it's anything... very confusing. What a terrible start to your ownership.
  12. Welcome to the community Can't really go wrong with a superb estate, next stop is small van I'm on my second, although for some reason despite liking estates, I've had two hatchbacks. Can still sleep in them
  13. Hi, You've made a good stab at saying hello in the right place; welcome to the community. Elegance is a trim level, it has extra bits to the one below. In the citigo at least it's the top of the tree. Yes, they are all hatchbacks in either 3 or 5 door. Elegance would of been on alloy wheels originally. I ran mine on steels. I guess so, so long as the rolling radius is the same and the bolts were suitable. I just had one set of nuts and they worked for 5years. I didn't bother with a spare, I used a can of magic. Only caught me out once in the higlands in winter. I could not figure out why it was pulling so much... anyway at midnight in winter on 'the road to death' I slowed down a bit for right handers... only when I got to the digs did I figure it was a slow tyre. The handy pump got it up the next day, and that afternoon, then the day I was going I took it to the tyre man So I've no idea if you need different bolts... maybe depends on the steel wheels? Hope that helps. The citigo section is here: Å koda Citigo
  14. I guess it comes down to, what charges are applied after 14days? If you're then liable for interest on x, then maybe not. If your just liable for interest so far, maybe would be a good call. You can probably call vw finance and query it on a what if basis, what if I won some money after say 4 months, can I clear the pcp and what might it cost me etc etc.

I'd forgotten about the parcel shelf, I was lucky I could just about stretch back and tap it shut. I could never really see the speedo for how I was comfortable, so I just had to learn straight up was 80, then drive accordingly or use the fairly well positioned nav. 30's I could see thankfully That and some magnetic lights for the boot, although invariably I'd knock them off. I totally missed when picking it up the electric windows, drivers side, only had one switch... that was my biggest annoyance when pulling up to talk, or SWMBO wanted to ask a q etc I think they sorted that on later models. Fun times indeed.

Yeah that fuel gauge... quite happily plodding up to scotland... na I'm good for fuel... over the moors eek. Lift and coast, lift and coast... My grans old BX, was amazing... with 0miles left I pulled of a dual carriageway; I'd totally missed it gassing away my mate... drove 5 miles to a village, up a hill, parked for climbing, figured I'd hitch to get a fuel can at the end of the day... anyhow it started, hydraulic suspension bah, rolled down the hill Then back, onto the dual carriage way to the fuel station at the end of the slip road. So we reckon the fuel line had a good 20odd miles in it. Fair to say I was incredibly nervous. @RodTucker I agree it's a great car, and not just a first car. Mother in law has one as run about to save getting her vRS out of the garage. I think she prefers it too. I must admit I've lost my love of small lanes since selling mine and getting the super tanker. At least the kamiq isn't a daft size and you'll really like the extra viewing height. Enjoy it. Been trying to get my mum to look at one under mobility, alas, not happening now, too late.
  17. @J.R. nice graph, my suunto and wahoo are not quite as granular as that. I’ve been toying with a less bulky, faffy setup for ‘day’ use. a few years back I was on a long ridge walk in Scotland, big day 5 Munro’s... anyhow keeping the pace up, jogging the descents, my heart was nicely humming along at 140ish for several hours. A thunderstorm was brewing north. Fun to watch, listening to Stephen fry audio book on Greek gods... flash clap. Right on top of me, it had felt up the glen behind me. Dam, turn back into it, to escape, or carry on over two more tops to escape... forward. the funny bit, I could skip the last top and boulder hop over it’s shoulder to the glen.... I put my pack down, and run to the top and back, grab my pack and beline to the glen, passing a 30’ tree... which was black on top from a previous strike... got even more of a wiggle on. My spikes during the escape section were in the 190’s. On The back of several hours sustained movement. No pinges.... get back to the car, a little soaked. Chilling out and the odd pinge... it’s so bizarre... and the cardiologist is slightly flummoxed... so I’m just carrying on, pottering, going for long sustained. having data, whilst not really studying it, is helping me improve. Mostly via how much rest I should take.

Welcome, Thinking back, I had a xantia estate, 1.9diesel, it made 97hp. I think. But I know you could drop the back seats, load it to the roof, and it still chugged along. Mind that was from the 90's. The only thing I don't like about the little petrols is steep hills with lots of stuff/people on board. But thats so infrequent I do like the free revy, peppy almost character they have. I had a 10yr old volvo last year and it's still better in some regards. But eclipsed by many more. The only tech I use, or specifically wanted was the adaptive cruise. Nothing else I felt I 'needed'. And it's a godsend once used to it on the motorway/traffic. Prepare to be startled once in a while if you're driving on a A/B road though. eg your pootling along at 50MPH. You get to one of those bends with the sharp bend chevrons. Maybe it has trees all around it. Occasionally the radar/sensors will think it's a stationary object and you're not reacting, it can't see the road curving away, that your yet to turn... so it sounds a high pitched alarm and a big red warning triangle. 1st time it did it to me I almost went straight on. Enjoy it,
  19. Welcome, 4 Skoda's yep that's you hooked too Can't complain at all at the £40 tax. I'm still amazed how the tax is done, that's a topic for a whole other day

Welcome, That's a lovely colour, I was amazed at the choice of colours in non UK markets. Is that on 16 or 17" wheels?
  21. Welcome to the new greenline. Glad to hear the community is helping, it's what it's all about
  22. Welcome, That's an incredibly clean white estate. I do like estates What's odd, for me, Is we think design changes quite quickly, the return to the angular design a few years back, I had to look twice to see it's from '14... how time flies.
  23. Welcome, er back I think they do win various awards each year for tow car etc. One's never sure how a car wins an award, especially if it's next years car of the year or best car ever, and it's not released yet. But there is something about octavias and towing, you do see a lot of them doing it. Perhaps it's the geometry / length of it.
  24. Welcome, those superbs were used by the czech pm/ministers in their day. Lovely spec. Enjoy it.

Welcome. There are indeed lots of things to explore and discover. I've found a few, and forgotten more
