  1. andyvee's post in Columbus MIB Woes (moved) was marked as the answer
0111 is very old firmware, approximately June 2013.

If you are feeling brave or confident enough to perform firmware upgrades I have the 0202 and 0390 firmwares which will bring you up to date.

PM me if you are interested, it is a fairly simple procedure.
  2. andyvee's post in Problems with new car paintwork was marked as the answer
    Iron contamination.

Get some IronX or TriX (Iron & Tar)

The dealer should sort this for you though, as long as they have the correct products

Got your PM, and if it helps I work at Birchwood if that is easier for you than Rossendale
  4. andyvee's post in Amundsen sat nav maps update. was marked as the answer
Still not offering me the maps for the Columbus from the update portal when I input my VIN, but I've found the file on their servers and posted a direct link
  5. andyvee's post in Amundsen are on SD but 'Clever?' SatNav fails to import was marked as the answer
Just seen you do have an Amundsen, check your map SD card first

  6. andyvee's post in TPMS Error? was marked as the answer
Its because you've changed to winters - the system thinks all 4 wheels are out of spec for pressure as the circumference will be different.

Just do another reset on the TPMS when you are stationary and then go for a drive so it can learn the new values.
  7. andyvee's post in Glove box light - what turns it on/off? was marked as the answer
If you take the lid off you can't miss it - it is massive!

From memory it is on the left hand side near the top - the back of the glovebox hits the plunger to turn the light off.
  8. andyvee's post in coolent prob was marked as the answer
It is fairly simple to diagnose a head gasket failure, they can test the coolant for contamination.

  9. andyvee's post in Laser White - anybody specced it? was marked as the answer
I have seen a Yeti in this colour and it is noticeably whiter than Candy White. I think there were some photos in the Yeti section comparing Moon White, Candy White and Laser White.
  10. andyvee's post in Passenger Window VCDS was marked as the answer
Have look in the debug folder where you VCDS install is, there is a log file that details every change you made.

Moral of the story - always take an autoscan and save it before you change anything!
  11. andyvee's post in Nav instructions on columbus was marked as the answer
Clear all your fault codes first by going in to each controller one by one and clearing from there.

Try unchecking the checkbox for BAP on the Columbus, doing a hard reboot on the Columbus, then enabling BAP again and rebooting again (assuming yours is a FaceLift model). If it isn't a facelift, do it the other way round, enable BAP then disable it.

If you still keep getting the communication errors with Nav and Radio you have a CANBUS issue to the NAV unit. Have you piggybacked a phone kit or MDI or anything off of the back of the Columbus? If so, disconnect it and see what happens.

  13. andyvee's post in Auto climate control, a/c light occasionally on was marked as the answer
Why by a car with Climate Control and then put the system in manual?
Do you have a thermostat for your central heating or do you just manually turn your boiler on and off?
The fuel usage argument has been done to death on here over the years, the AC system is variable, so when AC is not required to either cool the air or reduce humidity the compressor is pumping gas round the system at a low pressure, just to keep seals lubricated. This will put effectively zero additional load on the engine, your heated mirrors or even the fan in the HVAC system will be consuming more fuel. Of course, if the air is required to be cooled to maintain the set temperature, or is excessively humid, then the AC will place additional load.
Many have compared mpg with AC off and AC on across tanks of fuel, and driving style and type of journey have more effect than leaving AC enabled when in AUTO.
At the end of the day it is a Climate Control system, the whole idea is that you leave it in AUTO with AC engaged and set the required temperature. The only times over the last 4 years I have had to do anything other than that is when the front windscreen got a bit steamed up on rainy mornings, and then a quick blast on the demist setting sorts that out.
On the newer systems with the humidity sensors I haven't had the need to do that though, as when left in AUTO it senses the increased humidity and directs cooled and dried air to the windows to keep them clear.

  14. andyvee's post in Folding Wing Mirrors was marked as the answer
Haven't seen folding mirrors on any UK spec vRS yet.

    Elegance gets it :-)

The switch doesn't have the folding position on it, so not something that can be enabled without changing parts, including mirrors, wiring and door controllers at a guess.
  15. andyvee's post in Snow Chains or Snow Socks on 225 40 R18 M&S was marked as the answer
You need to follow manufacturers advice or you may find you are not insured. 18" rims are NOT approved by Skoda for chains.

  16. andyvee's post in rain sensor & wiper speed/interval was marked as the answer
    It's automatic, as you suspected.

Some people don't like it and would prefer a traditional variable speed intermittent.

Ok, sometimes it goes a bit haywire (or it did on my Mk2) but turning it off and then on again in IT crowd style seems to sort it.

Most issues are caused by dirt on the windscreen where the sensor is.
